Longtime AM-640 WLVG engineer reportedly arrested on child porn charges

The article states he prefers infants and toddlers....!!!

He has been working on the Villages radio for a decade.....working with the villages schools.......driving the Villages radio van.....with the Villages "fun Team"

Still in disbelief......whats happening in todays world....?

I don't think that it's today's world. This has been going on for centuries. It's just that today we hear about it through the internet and all of the other sources we have. Years ago it was covered up.
Families didn't want their names involved and the justice system was much more lenient.

Thank you Gracie. I too had to take exception with the title of this post. We seem to be so quick to taint everything and everyone no matter how remotely they are attached to something bad.

Child abuse/porn is a real hot button with me, since children look to adults to protect them and we oftentimes do not. There are many people who exhibit despicable, deplorable behavior. Unfortunately only a small percentage of them are caught, and you cannot tell who they are just by looking at them

As adults we need to step back and ask ourselves questions when we see "unusual" behavior. Eg., the 'favorite uncle' who likes to tickle children to excess or giving the child many gifts out of proportion to the relationship to the child. This website discusses what abusers look for in their "prey": Understanding Abusers - Building Stronger Families -protecting children against sexual abuse.

We must also mentally check off behaviors of children we are around that may lead us to wonder if we should report, document or question further. We are not the experts, nor are we in an environment where we are exposed to many children, but must still remain alert.

There is a website (Abuse Victim Profile shows the individual behavior patterns | The Lamplighter Movement) which lists behaviors that help identify children who may be at risk, which includes:
People pleasing
Insomnia
Weak boundaries
Low self esteem
Cutting or self injury

The engineer happened to be working for a company which is popular with many Villagers. I am sure those at the station are appalled as we are. Let's just do what we can to protect our children.

I think you are an alarmist. I also suspect you may have been the victim of abuse and see the boogey man in every adult that is friendly with a child.

I had some of those "favorite uncles". They were the kindest, most generous men. I still think of them and am glad they were in my life. They weren't pedophiles. They were simply good men who loved their children and their family's children.

Lets stop with the pedophile hysteria. Pedophilia is no more rampart today then it was when we were children.

No I was not abused and had a very happy childhood, thank you very much. If one read my post more carefully, they will see that I referenced *unusual* behavior, not relatives who showed the normal love for a child. I urged people to pay attention to what is going on around them and not assume that everyone has a "normal" childhood.

There is a special place in hell for those people who exploit infants/children/teenagers/young adults/adults/seniors for their perverted aversion to porn. :boom:

I had wonderful scout leaders in cub scouts, boy scouts and explorers. But a friend of mine whom I met at age 25 had been taken to a scout meeting by his mother in Oakland, CA. His mother never took him back when the scout master lisped "Oh Mrs. B..., you must bring G... back again". One must be careful!

I know what you mean, innocent untill proven guilty. But the evidence on his phone, work computer, and the fact that he was caught in the sting offering up one of his own family members to a man in Canada makes his guilt pretty clear.

Child abuse of any sort is a hot button for most adults in this nation. The church has long been a child abuser haven for these perverts.
70 years ago when I was a kid we were warned by the older boys at Sunday School which males to stear clear of, (two actually) as they were a 'bit funny'
They got away with it because no one would believe that such a 'good man' could do such a thing.
Worlds not as naive as we were then, but it still happens.

Within the entire spectrum of human sexuality there is a connection. Homosexuality does not connect any closer than heterosexuality.

I think the poster just used the word aversion incorrectly. The definition of aversion is "a strong feeling of dislike, opposition, repugnance, or antipathy (usually followed by to ): a strong aversion to snakes and spiders." However I think all get his point.

I imagine my friend's mother had resided long enough in the Bay Area to be able to identify the characteristics of a homosexual pedophile when she saw (and heard) one. Perhaps heterosexual pedophiles as well... His mother managed a 60 unit apartment building so she had to be a quick and astute judge of character. She called them as she saw them, I suppose. Good for her! She most likely saved my friend from being sexually abused as a child!

My former wife was raised Roman Catholic and went to parochial schools from Kindergarten through high school. In grade school her family lived in a small rural community in New Mexico, a state where the church sent its "problem" priests, alcoholics, pedophiles and so on, probably because the locals were relatively poor, unsophisticated and sufficiently cowed by authority to be reluctant to question the church. Anyway, she noticed one priest in particular liked to reach up under the skirts of the little girls and pat them on their bottoms. She intuitively kept her distance from him. Later on they lived for a while in San Francisco. One day when she was about 12 she was walking her 5 year old sister and they got flashed by a guy wearing a raincoat who was naked underneath it. Moral: There are sickos of every flavor everywhere. Pay attention to what is going on around you.
