Not there physically but my appetite is always on the move. "LACE DOILLIES"? At first I thought it read "Dollies" I'll refrain from comment. F16 |
[QUOTE=KathieI;197238]LelaandJane, found this on the gourmet club site. Couldn't find it in TV phone book, hope this helps. Let me know if you want to go there with Nonie and I to chuckle about the doilies...
Sorry Topicop .. I apologize for the hijack. :police: Nonie, just be sure you don't stuff any of those lovely lace doilies in your pocket! I know that you find them irresistable. |
Nonie. I can crochet. I grew up with doilies all around me. I am sure it is like riding a bicycle, crocheting doilies must be in my DNA. I will make you lots of Doilies. Oh Nonie, You will be so happy!;)

I just heard about this restaurant today from a neighbor...she gave it very high marks...and now you all are talking about it.Wow. Guess I will have to go...it will be like going to Gramma's with the lace doilies.........
|
Beady, you dont have to go that far, comming to my house is like going to Grandmas, I just cant offer you anything to eat 'cause kitchens and I dont get along!!!
Gracie, How sweet of you to offer to make me doilies!! However I think my better half would hit the roof because he just made me sell a gazillion doilies at the auction. Anything I bring in this house from here on has to be snuk in( is that a word)? and hidden before he gets home. :sigh:: |

I received an e-mail from a friend in Dayton OH who told me about it. |
Went there for my birthday in January. I had shrimp and grits (fantastic) and my husband had country fried steak. Sorry we did not have room for dessert since the cakes looked out of this world.

Shrimp & Grits is a Low Country specialty, the Carolinas do it best. Where is this place? Can we plan a night out?:icon_hungry: |

Let's be serious now, people. Does anybody really east grits? Really. Be honest. Actually eat them?
|
Okay, I clicked onthe link and went to the menu and it has a few things I have never heard of but sounded good. Any idea what Dixie Caviar and Redneck Nachos may be?

Wonderful Southern Food
I have had dinner at the Cotillion Southern Cafe many times and always enjoyed it. If you go there you must know that they do not serve any alcohol but do allow you to BYOB at $2.50pp.The menu is small, but it does seem to have something for everyone. The shrimp and grits are with cheese grits and while I was not a 'grit fan' this combination is awesome. With the dinners you get soup or salad - they only have one salad dressing - a homemade almost poppy seed like - you can buy the dry mix at the restaurant to make at home. The entrees are in the $12-$16 range with the crab cake platter and seafood platter a little higher, so it is not cheap eats. They also have some sandwiches and dinner salads in the $10 range, but I have never tried one. You simply must try the desserts even if you have to get a slice to go. Definitely two thumbs up - but remember it is southern food and not for someone on a diet.

Wonderful!
The cheese grits there are wonderful! Vetman even loved them and he doesn't like cheese or grits!!!! Go figure!
Also, I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but you should have reservations. There are not that many tables and I've seen them turn people away. |
I like my grits Al dente.........http://www.millan.net/minimations/sm...tchsmiley2.gif

Dont forget to make Reservations..
We went just a couple weeks ago, food was great. Very small place so make sure you call ahead just in case. I guess you can walk in and take a chance...I don't know but the couple we went with advised reservations so we did.
Save room for a desert...Oh yeah!!!:o |
We tried this restaurant today and got right in, but it was after 2:00 pm.
The grits were the best I have ever had. The fried shrimp was pretty good. But, the cakes are the best. My husband & I shared hummingbird cake - it was great. I came home and looked up the recipie which I will store with all the other recipes I am going to make some day. We will definitely go there again. We did get the only open table at 2:00 pm. Portions are large - I noticed most people had take out boxes with them when leaving. It is definitely not low calorie, but kind of a special place. |
Went there for lunch yesterday. Had shrimp salad on a flaky croissant and sweet potato fries. And based on previous recommendation saved room for dessert. Key Lime cake, yes cake, to die for. Will definitely go back. On my favorites list now.
|
We stopped by accident one evening. When I walked through the door I thought that I had gone back in time. What a lovely place. The service was first rate and the food was home made. Great place.
|
Sounds lovely! I can't wait to get there to visit this quaint little restaurant...:crap2:
