Villages crossed Florida Turnpike
So while driving around the Fenny area this afternoon, we stumbled upon a group of people off 503. There families have been living in the Adamsville area for 3 generations.
There road has been reciently paved and we inquired about that. They informed us that Sumter County/&The Villages has bought up most of the county roads off 501 around Fenny and they need paved roads for the possible 18k per day traffic....? supposedly Sumter county has taken 2 homes in her neighborhood that back up to Fenny for roadways already under eminent domain laws .....wow They and there neighbors are selling all the town.....as a unit........$250k an acre....so cool......although she didn't feel the same way. They are loosing there neighbors and friends and she was not excited about that. I said......I still don't understand how the villages will get over the Fla Pike. She said they already have....a little south of the Okahumpka toll...The Villages built a bridge over the turnpike and they own all the property from Center Hill to 44. I wasn't sure she was correct... So when I got back home, I google mapped it, and she is absolutly correct. The bridge is there and seems an easy stretch from 505 to 468 or 44.....villages named it Southern Oaks....or so they said. So now I know why Fenny is there....it will become golf cart accessible to the town squares and the other golf someday. Very interesting.... |
Does this mean the build out is not here? ;)
|
"build out" funny? never gonna happen....

Anything at all will do to support this rumor.. If it is so I will run naked through the square. And no one wants that! I bet what happened was that The developers bought the property from them at a good price............. |

Sumter county/The Villages, took there homes...sale price?.... can't prove that until google maps shows at the end of 503 attached to Fenny homes torn down, which shouldn't take too long to update....but if you drive down the road, it is newly paved. The adamsville town acres/streets will go up for sale by the end of the week....all together...as one big acreage. As far as the Fla turnpike golf cart bridge...that can be seen today.....in person...or on google maps |
The bridge on 468 across the Florida turnpike is a golf cart bridge? What is the speed allowed for car traffic? If it's 45 MPH or higher then golf carts will not be allowed. I will try to take an aerial picture of the bridge from the Cub tomorrow.

Sure enough there is a bridge to nowhere south of the plaza...
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ok...!4d-81.9822582 Google Maps Not really sure that proves anything - or has anything to do with the Villages. It must have been there for a long time - Google earth is over 2 years old in this area- it still shows the entire village of Hillsborough as dirt... |

My guess is that it was built to provide access for a farmer (Bailey?)...when the toll road cut through his/her land. I'm sure it could be used for a golf cart trail though and maybe the developer plans on doing just that...but The Villages didn't build it. Unless, The Developer was planning on expanding all the way back in...1964. :D Bailey Road Over Sr 91 | Bridge Inspections | Sumter County | theledger.com | The Ledger | Lakeland, FL Quote:

It will be a new interchange with the Florida Turnpike...and IT IS being paid for by The Developer. |

A manager at Walmart told me, Costco bot the bridge.

Now that Bailey bridge could be key to this. That's assuming they've bought up all that land. Wonder what shape that bridge is in? |

The link I provided is the inspection of the bridge made in 2013. While it isn't in perfect shape, it gets a 96.4 'Health Index' and I'm sure it would be fine for golf carts. Here's the link again. Yeah, looks like a few issues. It needs standards upgrades. But would likely do the job. |
If it is true that this bridge will enable golf cart traffic over the turnpike, there still would be an issue getting across 44 to connect Fenney and future development to the rest of The Villages
|
Looks like one of the bridges they use to move cattle etc. across farms split by highways.

Rt. 468 is NOT a Golf Cart roadway and you can't cross Rt. 44 in a Golf Cart. As for eminent domain the government has that power. I'm not saying the Developer can't request that those properties be taken but there are a lot of assumptions here.
|
Why would TV even be concerned about a golf cart bridge?? All they want is to sell homes, they don't need a golf cart bridge. I think they will have more rental carts at the executive courses to accommodate the Villigers south of the Turnpike that want to golf.

The are at least 4 roads south of 468 ......503...503A-E ect... these roads will soon connect to 501 as will Fenny. Sumter County must have done eminent domaine there property.....to make access for the new development.....on behalf of the Village of Fenny ... they paved and widen a road just reciently that has existed for 20 years plus? for what purposes would the homeowners that have resided there for generations lie? If you take a drive back into that area you will see that the power and gas lines as well as water are being put into place. This is evident from all the flags hanging everywhere... all up and down the turnpike all the way thru to Hwy 48 which leads to Center Hill. The villages is making it way south and sumter county is paving the way. The once peaceful homeowners are probably not that happy with the progress....but hopefully they will be happy with the fat checks they recieve for there property.... |
I heard that the villages, in conjunction with Costco, whole foods and trader Joe's bought the bailey bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Seriously, if this is true, there will never be a build out. Not sure if that is good or bad, I assume bad for any significant property value increases. |

Iam 95% certain that I traveled Bailey road years ago in my car when I lived south of Leesburg in Royal Highlands. If I remember correct, it comes out on Rt. 27 south. Not a cart path.
Anyway, a lot of speculation and rumors but few facts about what the Developer might be up to south of Rt. 44. Patience is a virtue---we will know in due time. Fore! |
Could be eminent domain, but I seriously doubt it. More like an irresistible purchase offer I would guess.

another little tid-bit I heard yesterday is that the 468 turnpike access has been delayed due to funding.
Supposedly they Villages funded the 468 roadways but is not going to contribute to the Turnpike ramps?. But, I can see they seem to be building a frontage road from 301 to 470 so? Sumter county decided The 301 turnpike "Wildwood" access will now be improved instead. Who knows... |

Go to Google maps and you will see that there is no indication that there has ever been even a dirt road...on either approach. |

Here's what it looks like from the southbound lanes of the Turnpike, just south of the Okahumpka Travel Plaza.

Picture take today from the Cub. It's here and goes all the way to Orlando. A pipe line that is. Not a golf cart in site:icon_wink:

Thanks for the photos, they are better than Google Maps and in yours it can be seen that the bridge could easily be used as a cart path to cross the turnpike. |

A good selling point is, if you work at Coleman Federal Peniteniary you could walk to work. For those who aren't quite ready to retire, prison guard jobs start at $40,000. It's not just blue collar either, they have openings for nurses, drug counselors, medical officers and so on. :icon_wink:

Walking is good news, bad news. The bad news, it could be a two-way sidewalk.

GREAT PICTURES....... let me ask you.......do you really think that bridge was used to heard cattle across the turnpike..... I have seen enough Bonanza to know they could probably never get cows in close enough with the cows moving in a herd.... seems like a few would maybe end up on the pike. I think some thing else....or someone else created that bridge.....?humm... not that I care cause I don't, I think this is actually going to be awesome....bigger...more fooderies...shopping....love it.......BUT when my supposedly informed Sales agent, that I have trusted her advice for many years, explains (lies) to me that Fenny will NEVER have access to The bubble and that I should really look into buying in Fruitland Park/Lake county....because that is all there is going to be left to buy? Thats when my blood pressure goes up.......and my defenses start to react.....and I get angry.... |
