Urologist - Looking for recommendation

Can anyone recommend an excellent urologist? I'm looking for someone that will thoroughly explain any procedures and take the time to answer questions. Having an efficient office staff would be beneficial also.

There are many at Advanced Urology in Oxford. BUT, I would call the 18th Ave (Ocala) facility to setup the appt in Oxford (if Oxford 466 is closer for you). There are two groups under one roof in Oxford (one is Ocala - Oxford, the other is Leesburg - Oxford). You want the prior. (there are also two waiting areas in Oxford with two front desks). Also, you do NOT want to go to the Ocala 3rd (Dr. Jo) office. If you have any issues getting an appt...I know a few people there that can take care of you.

Dr. Saumil Karavadia at Advanced Urology. 352-260-0055

From my personal experience, he is excellent.

If appointment is for a woman then Dr Flaherty is excellent. His office is in the Speciality Care Center near the hospital.

Dr. Taub of Advanced Urologists did a robot-assisted laparoscopic simple prostatectomy for me this summer and did an excellent job.

Dr Karavadia, Advanced Urology would be my first choice. Takes his time to explain and answer any questions you may have. Time well spent.

I am a patient of Dr. Jo. He has been very good for me (kidney stone issues). He is very busy and wait time is a problem but I like him and he was available when I was in pain with a kidney stone so I will stick with him. It is worth the trip for me from the southern part of The Villages.

That is the thing - wait time - Paul Jo is a very gifted MD and a nice man. Maybe just maybe a bit quick to break out the robotics. But, for the drive, the schedule and the time...I would see Taub or Karavadia (or one of the others) in Oxford. If I was going to go to Ocala, I would go to the 18th Ave facility (and see Taub).

He performed the Rezum procedure on me in October with great success. He has been my doctor since 2013 and I find him very knowledgeable and he has a great staff as well. You are in good hands.

Another vote for Dr. Dersch. His explanations make sense and are not cloaked in " medical speak ".

If your having prostate concerns I would highly recommend Dr Patel. He has done over 9500 robotic surgeries. Check out his web site below. He is with Florida Hospital in Kissimmee Fl. Well worth a hour trip.

A friend of mine went to Dr. Young, had an in house procedure. Could not get the bleeding stopped, went to TVR, they rushed him to Ocala.
I recommend Dr. Dersh at Advanced he was selected by Style Mag as one of the top 100 Doc's in Florida.

mrbgull 02-03-2017 06:41 PM

Dr K at Advanced, worked for me
