Obama – Epic Failure
Weren’t we told by Obama the auto companies had to be saved and that bankruptcy was not an option? Government must intervene he said. So he pumped billions of our tax dollars into Chrysler and they ended up filing for bankruptcy anyway. So in the end we really didn’t need to spend all those billions of our money on Chrysler.
Now I’m hearing that his union friends are going to end up with majority control in the company even though they have less money invested in bonds than the private investors. I’ll bet GM ends up doing the same thing. I smell a huge Obama rat. So from a political standpoint it appears to be an epic failure. I think from Obama’s standpoint he’s getting exactly what he planned for. Government and union control over the big three… or at least the big two for now. Add in control over a few major banks that fund the auto makers and you have a nice little package for the government. Who’s business will be taken over next? I also understand the tax cut for 95% of all American is gone too… another big lie. "If you earn under $250k you won't see your taxes go up one dime." Yet another lie. Just wait until the tax increases hit the middle class and watch what happens to the economy and jobs. Obama owns this economy now and from where I sit I see nothing but a huge failure. The economy is still tanking and his policies have done nothing to help and in fact will continue to damage far into the future and our kids future. You can’t blame Bush forever… It’s Obama’s baby now and he’s making a mess of it. Next on the list? The health care takeover. I’m sure the government will do a fine job running it. Just look how well they did with social security. Oh I forgot... it’s bankrupt too. |
It's going to be a long 4-8 years for a lot of people.
No one seems to be offering up what the alternatives might have been if the current adminstration hadn't been elected. Not much comment either on what preceeded all of the current messes that we're in. Going back to the recent elections, I feel the best man (of the two) for the job won. |
I don't think either one was worth a <blank> but my money says McCain would be taking a different path. I guess if one is a fan big government, higher taxes and out of control spending then BO was a good choice. Personally I think he is an complete disaster and time will prove it.
How do you feel about spending billions and billions to save a company that ultimately filed for bankruptcy anyway? I think there were plenty of alternatives proposed and in Obama's promised bipartition spirit he listened to none of them even though he has ZERO executive experience with the economy or anything else for that matter. |

Quoting the starter of this thread.
"Government must intervene he said. So he (Obama)pumped billions of our tax dollars into Chrysler and they ended up filing for bankruptcy anyway." Gee, too bad this was done by George Bush prior to the election. Chrysler was hanging on by the $4 billion Bush gave them. So McCain wouldn't have done anything different either. http://www.economist.com/business/di...ry_id=12833915 God, don't you just hate details? |
No, I love the details. Bush should have been taken to the wood shed as well for doing such a stupid irresponsible thing, in fact I think he was. We lost. Bush started it and now Obama has hyper-accelerated it.
Don't assume that because I think Obama is an abject incompetent failure that I blindly supported Bush like Obama supporters blindly support Obama. |
BTW, Bush gave them 4 billion. Obama gave them 8 billion more just the other day.

At some point in the evolution of the current administration
the party faithful will have no choice but to cease looking for the blame as in who did what and when....the facts would also bear out their backward horizon for the "blame" extends past Bush!!!
So, HOPEFULLY, when that point arrives we can look forward to a discussion about an issue(s) encompassing the here and now....what was done? what did it yield? what was it supposed to do/yield? Executives own what they inherit from the day they take the job. During my stint in corporate America it was never allowed to blame a result or lack of result on the predecessor. Real....and I mean REAL corporate management and boards of directors know why they have a new executive (just like voting in a new POTUS).....the big difference is the new executive must produce results....not words about who did what. As posted many times before....I patiently await any program from the new administration that defines exactly what is to be done and when on a given issue. How much it will cost. Where the money will come from. Who is responsible. And when will the results be reviewed that show progress or not. The above is not possible because lawyer types...you know the politicians don't know how first of all. Secondly there is no one to hold them accountable. And we the people certainly won't. Never have. Never will. Want proof? Just check the roster of the do nothing, been in office forever dregs that constipate Washington that are repeatedly re-elected by we the people. Looking back for blame is a partisan waste of time adding no value in discussion or results obtained! BTK |

Tricare - "It’s pretty much a given fact that the men and women serving in our country’s Armed Forces aren’t paid a whole lot. A large majority of them are living paycheck to paycheck, barely getting by. Many of our Veterans are in the same position, some even worse off, as evidenced by the numbers of homeless veterans in our country. When I read about this particular proposal to cut Tricare benefits for Military Families and Veterans I was none too happy.
A recent report from the Congressional Budget Office details just one proposal that would increase out of pocket expenses for medical care for Military Families and Veterans, while others would lose their VA benefits altogether. Other proposals would raise Tricare fees, co-payments and deductibles. Veterans whose medical condition isn’t service related could end up no longer being eligible for VA medical care at all." ----------------------------------------------------------- "The Department of Veterans Affairs' 1,400 clinics and hospitals suffer from hundreds of problems, including worn carpet, damaged floor tiles, leaking roofs and cockroach infestations, a department report released Wednesday shows." "Who's been minding the store?" said Murray, a member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee. "They keep putting Band-Aids on problems when what the agency needs is major triage." Government health care coming to a store near you... |

Premature?
By my calculation, the current president has completed about 7% of his term. It's probably premature to heap too much disapproval (or praise) on him at this time.
A lot can happen either way in the remaining 93% of his first term. |
That's what's so scary, 93% left to go. If the first 100 days are any indication we should be adding the hammer and sickle to the flag by 2012... to cheering crowds I'm sure.
Maybe by then my IT job will be reassigned to a government run bakery somewhere turning out hundred dollar loafs of bread. |
Hammer and sickle? Come on
|
I've already been fitted with my new Mao jacket j/k.
I see the glass as half full and look forward to the remaining 93%. There's a lot that needs fixing. |
Remember, Khrushchev told Eisenhower's Ag Secretary that his grandchildren would be living under communism. His grandchildren would probably be in their 40's or 50's now. I think before it is all over, he will be right.

The problem is, career politicians never fix anything, as fixed things mean no problems. |
I’m just being facetious but given the last 100 days, this is no America I would recognize and with 93% of his term left I’m shaking in my boots thinking about what we’ll look like by then… or what will be left standing.
I was just listening to Obama’s take on the supreme court from an interview eight years ago. He clearly said he was in favor of appointing supreme court judges that have a feeling or empathy for people on the “outside” who may not have resources to protect themselves. I guess that comes from his community organizing days. I was always taught that judges make decisions based on the law or the Constitution not feelings or empathy. He also made very clear statements regarding (and he used the term) redistribution of wealth. Now just look at what he did with Chrysler. He screwed the private sector bond holders, paid the banks off via TARP money for their loses and gave control of Chrysler to the unions… who are run by democratic supporters btw. Bet you he does the same with GM. Forget about liberal or conservative. Never in my life would I thought we’d see this in America. This guy and his twisted ideas are so radical I can hardly believe it. Crap sakes, he's starting to make me miss Bill Clinton now. Obama is dangerous and out of control. |
I'm with you, dklassen. I knew it was goiong to be bad, but didn't know it would be this bad, this fast. I still would like to know how the economy just happened to crash a month before the election. Everyone keeps talking about how horrible the last eight years were. I disagreed with a lot of things Bush did, but I don't think they were that awful. It seems to me things started going down hill after Pelosi and Co. took over.

All this crying makes me barf
Maybe that was a little harsh. Just telling a co-worker, sure am glad Obama is around. Gives all these people something to complain and wine about. Someone slap me for coming and looking at Politcal again. Did obama run the country in the ground in 100 days. Could bet the farm on it was like this when he took office, but I guess it depends on what book one reads. Sure is funny the market is making a run. Oh Snap that is Because of the Republicans, Forgot????????????????? :girlneener: |
Pres. Obama is not the problem - his "handlers" are. Every action he has done so far does not show him as being independent from 20+-plus-years-in-the-House Speaker Pelosi, 20+-years-in-the-Senate Leader Reid, and the others with multi-decade DC time who have written the platforms, paved the way, and now are collecting their debts. Pres. Obama is just too new a face with too few folk owing him to have the impact he's getting "credit" for.

After reading some of these posts, I'm afraid to leave the house!

If your significant other ran up fifty or sixty thousand on your credit cards in 100 days I wonder if you'd consider yourself run in the ground? |
If he's that effective in running it into the ground in only 100 days, just think what he can do to turn it around in 200 days..

This fact, plus if you read the book "The Shadow Party" which details the plans by George Soros and a few others who had such hate for George Bush (BEFORE Iraq) that early on in his first term they began a network dedicated to taking the Democratic party over and moving it ultra liberal involving 4/5 unions, non profit activist groups (Think ACORN and MOVEON). For more on this "shadow group" see... http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/g...asp?grpid=6706 Read it...it is absolutely stunning... Now, all of this BEFORE Barrack Obama and all of a sudden they find a young man with skills they never imagined who was trained all of his life in radical viewpoints and tactics (The Shadow party is all about radical behavior). This, a guy, who lived and trained all his life for socialism. NO, I do not believe in anyway that President Obama is the source of our problems, HOWEVER I do believe we now have the PERFECT STORM. A socialist leaning President trained and schooled in the far left, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY he has a congress controlled by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid (I might add that much of the time those roles are reversed in that Pelosi, especially, controls the President...see a pork filled "stimulus" bill that not only had not the voting members of Congress read but neither had the President). This "perfect storm" sets the stage and in a mere 100 days they have shocked everyone by taking advantage of every crisis to demean our position and then save us ( a tactic espoused by Saul Alinsky....one of the folks who Obama modeled all his behavior after). Thus I fear greatly for our future !!!! |

Thank you for your kind and intelligent words. I supplied a website but there is a book !!! Have you read the book ? It was witten by NY TIMES best selling authors and was a bestseller, but of course....if YOU dont agree with something, it must be some nut job !!! Oh and the FACTS on Obama all public history and included in his TWO AUTOBIOGRAPHIES...sometimes both of them agree on facts ! I might add, since from your short personal "shots" at folks and your generalizations, that you dont read much...it was on the Times bestseller list the first week published and frankly speaks also of right wing groups. But then again.....I keep forgetting if YOU dont agree then we all are nut jobs ! |

I already made my feelings clear about Bush. Obama dog piles on 10 fold and we're supposed to cheer because he's Obama?
He took Bush's screw up and elevated it to unbelievable proportions. Add on a radical left wing agenda the likes of which this country has never seen and you have a recipe for disaster. A perfect storm as on person here put it. Also don't forget that Fannie and Freddie were major players in the collapse and that blood is on no one's hands but the democrats who controlled it and blocked every attempt to fix it. The very same people are now spending and wasting trillions more of our tax dollars all the while conning people into believing that they the government still hold the solutions to fix it. All we need to do is keep printing money... trillions of it. |
50-50 might be what the spin doctors would like
the rank and file to believe....if not from them them from whence dist the 50-50 cometh?

As far as Obama's training and background it is all established fact and not a conspiracy that he idolized Saul Alinsky and practiced all of his rules while a community organizer. Oh, wait a minute..unlike most of us...you are a PARTY man...you care only whether the person has a D or R after their name....never mind !!! |

It was their watch. Barney Frank is an idiot. But your first sentence read "Weren't we told by Obama that the auto companies had to be bailed out" and the answer to that is "No, we weren't, we were told by PRESIDENT BUSH." |
The basic problem is one of the oldest in the books: Democrats are mind swept to TAX and SPEND, PERIOD! As Michael Savage, of the Savage Nation has said, "Liberalism is a mental disease."
