The Buzzcatz - new band at LSL last night

8 piece band:
lead male vocalist- excellent
lead female vocalist - excellent
six musicians - excellent
backup vocalists - excellent

And the sound system was top notch.
An unbelievably tight production at LSL tonight.

This group is in a league of its own.

Couldn't agree more. You are right best band I ever heard here. They also play every type of music. From 40s swing Michael Jackson, Paul Simon, the twist era etc. etc. Hope to see a lot more of them .

Thanks for the review. Hope to catch them the next time.

New Band

Caught a new band (new to the villages) last night in Sumter Landing. The Buzzcatz play a wide variety of music from swing to Sinatra and Dean Martin to rock and roll to disco and Motown. The band consisted of 8 members including both a male and female singer (both fantastic) and a horn section. They are scheduled for Brownwood on December 4. I think they will be a big hit in TV and draw crowds rivaling Rocky and Scooter.

Thanks for the tip! I'd like to see The Villages entertainment enter the 1970's (at least) since there are many of us here now who know that music!

I watched the video, nice sound, clean, some of it sounded more like dinner music, I guess Journey was the rockingness song I heard. I guess none of you have seen Johnny D and the Starlights out of Orlando, been playing here since spring and everybody at the square can be heard saying they're better than Rocky. I've seen them once at each square, and I'm catching my fourth show tonight at LSL, I'll be leaving early because it will be packed.

This is a band that plays the roots of rock n' roll, Buddy Holly, the Everly Brothers, Chuck Berry, Roy Orbinson, to name a few. Be there or be square. Here's a sample.

Johnny Dee and the Starlights - Legends in Concert: BUDDY, ROY and HANK - YouTube

They've had 3 backup girl singers everytime I've seen them, the photo only shows 2 girls, but they've had a 3rd girl, a red head everytime. Johnny, not his real name, has played Buddy Holly in the play The Buddy Holly Story and auditioned for Broadway traveling version and won the part but had to back out because he has two young children.

I've seen Johnny Dee and the Starlights three times also. They are great. The three girls (the Starlets) were there with one change I noticed the last time.

The Buzzcatz are not the same for comparison as far as material goes. Forget the video and check them out at their next performance. It would be interesting to hear your take.

Hi Guys! Thanks for the nice reviews on my band, The Buzzcatz! We had a BLAST at Sumter Landing and will be at Brownwood on 12/4, Spanish Springs on 2/4, and a special VALENTINE'S NIGHT show at Katie Belle's on 2/14 (you heard that here FIRST - we just booked it TODAY!). Not sure why we are listed as "classic rock", but our band covers lots of styles and sounds and we still have alot more music to play for you all. I look forward to meeting all of you soon and to being a part of the great entertainment offered at The Villages! THANK YOU for your support!!! - Ricky
