gen. Mattis (mad dog) eager for confrontation with iran
That is one of reasons Obama replaced mad dog! Do you want us to go to war with Iran?????
|
Nice fear monger
Obama only wanted YES men around him!!!! Pentagon insiders say that he rubbed civilian officials the wrong way -- not because he went all "mad dog," which is his public image, and the view at the White House, but rather because he pushed the civilians so hard on considering the second- and third-order consequences of military action against Iran. Some of those questions apparently were uncomfortable. Like, what do you do with Iran once the nuclear issue is resolved and it remains a foe? What do you do if Iran then develops conventional capabilities that could make it hazardous for U.S. Navy ships to operate in the Persian Gulf? He kept saying, "And then what?" There is also a belief that Mattis and Obama differed on Iran. "A particular point of disagreement was what to do about mischief Iran is exporting to other countries. Mattis is indeed more hawkish on this than the White House was," writes Ricks in yet another post. "National Security Advisor Tom Donilon in particular was irked by Mattis's insistence on being heard. I cringe when I hear about civilians shutting down strategic discussions. That is exactly what the Bush administration did in late 2002 when generals persisted in questioning whether it was wise to invade Iraq. That led to what some might call a fiasco." Source |
mad dog
Mattis quote, "be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill whoever you meet"

yes to his Marines going to front line
:beer3: His appointment sends a strong message. What do you think our enemies are saying among themselves now? Do you think Russia will do a flyby on one of our ships now? North Korea? Sure beats Obama bowing to everyone!!!!! https://qph.ec.quoracdn.net/main-qim...t_to_webp=true http://i782.photobucket.com/albums/y...47590852_n.jpg |
Gen Mattis...........A great choice. Probably will not get confirmed by congress. He scares liberals so much they mess their shorts.
|
We will seee if Trump's advisors are doing him well.
I would like to think Trump would not offer up a candidate unless he was fairly certain the approval is reasonable to expect. We shall see. It would be nice if we Americans see the valid reasons for choosing him. And let our enemies fear the reasons why he should not be the nominee. As for the nick name "mad dog" it has been written the only people he tolerates that name from are those under his command. |
Mattis would also need a waiver from Congress in order to be confirmed.
he is not 7 years retired, but should be ez to get. Mattis, 66, would join a Trump national security team that already includes retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn as national security adviser and Rep. Mike Pompeo as CIA director. |

The waiver from the senate requires 60 votes. Trump's own senator Kristen Jillibrand will vote no. |

Taxes were also raised to pay for the Korean War.

Also some Dems will vote him esp former military |
Quote:
Sen Jillibrand said as soon as the speech was over that she could not vote yes. The GOP will need nine dem votes to pass this waiver. Sen Schumer needs to negotiate with GOP to see what he can get in return for providing those nine votes. |

Wow, next you'll tell us U now support Trump.

Actually, you all should read this FROM JANUARY 2013.
"Word on the national security street is that General James Mattis is being given the bum’s rush out of his job as commander of Central Command, and is being told to vacate his office several months earlier than planned. Why the hurry? Pentagon insiders say that he rubbed civilian officials the wrong way — not because he went all “mad dog,” which is his public image, and the view at the White House, but rather because he pushed the civilians so hard on considering the second- and third-order consequences of military action against Iran. Some of those questions apparently were uncomfortable. Like, what do you do with Iran once the nuclear issue is resolved and it remains a foe? What do you do if Iran then develops conventional capabilities that could make it hazardous for U.S. Navy ships to operate in the Persian Gulf? He kept saying, “And then what?” "Inquiry along these lines apparently was not welcomed — at least in the CENTCOM view. The White House view, apparently, is that Mattis was too hawkish, which is not something I believe, having seen him in the field over the years. I’d call him a tough-minded realist, someone who’d rather have tea with you than shoot you, but is happy to end the conversation either way." The Obama administration’s inexplicable mishandling of Marine Gen. James Mattis | Foreign Policy This makes much more sense than all the conspiracy theories and the political intrigue. |
Rumor has it that his lifelong singlehood is because he's a closet gay, which would actually be a positive as then maybe some of the homphobe's on the right...will become disabused of their negative stereotypes of homosexuals.

Having said that I don't think the Warrior Monk is gay |
Some say that CNM is gay, but we believe in diversity here, so all is good.
Gillibrand said she feels that Secstate should not be military, but civilian. Is she totally wacko or what? Powell was a retired General and he was Secstate. |

But hey, I don't judge by sexual orientation and I certainly don't try and use it for denigration...so good luck. |

The Great Ancient Greece is gone...so having gays in the military in the long run...didn't matter...did it? So there's no benefit from having gays in the population. I do thank you though...your post made me google gays in the ancient Greek army. |

Gillibrand was talking about Sec of Defense, who is required under federal law to be a civilian. This law has been on the books since 1947 and no waiver request has been made since 1950. Democrats can prevent Mattis from getting the waiver, and therefore will not be confirmed. |
He's a done deal for approval
Please research a bit before posting However, Congress almost immediately allowed for an exception for George C. Marshall Mattis has the endorsement of Senator John McCain, a Republican and Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Armed Services Committee member Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said he's "confident the waiver allowing him to serve as secretary of Defense will be approved by Congress." |

Time for the left to either get on the wagon or sit back and shut up. Either way is the "PC" way to handle the situation. |
Quote:
After some verbal bombs, he will get the waiver and then go through an ordeal till confirmed. You folks need to get out and see how it works. It is difficult to not be confirmed...,now Sessions will be the biggest problem. |

Please list eight or nine democrats that Trump can pull out of his hat to support the waiver that Mattis will need get to confirmation. McCain and Graham are republicans. |
Quote:
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D., N.H.), Rep. Adam Schiff (Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Michèle Flournoy, a Democrat who was seen as a top candidate to head the Defense Department under a Hillary Clinton administration, said Mattis would be an “outstanding candidate” to head the Pentagon. more will will come it still 60 days away |
Quote:
The George C Marshall waiver happened in 1950, when Harry Truman was president. A lot has changed since then. Quote:
That is two democratic senators, still need six or seven more. Only the senate votes on the waiver, and there must be 60 votes to pass. |
Keep your shirt on
the glass is always half empty to U I suppose |
Peace Through Strength
The- thread is called Gen Miattis (mad dog) eager for confrontation with Iran. I believe in the phrase peace through strength. It seems to me counter-intuitive to allow nations who are clearly evil and aggressive to operate with impunity. 9/11 should have taught us a very important lesson. And the subsequent attacks in Asia, Europe, Africa and America on innocent people by these evil doers are not going away. Iran, is a sponsor of terror.
I believe the mistake we have made for a long time is ignoring our generals and trying to politically fight our wars. If you objectively view Trump's choices he is making it clear to our enemy that the Obama strategy from leading from behind is over. Trump by his own admission does not favor war but he is also a guy who deals in present realities Personal Best Regards: |
Well said
