It is very important to me to know if this Sonny's will smoke their own meat or use pre-cooked meat, and just re-heat it. I do not see any sign of a smoker anywhere around the building. Not all of the Sonny's cook it's own meat. The Sonny's in Bellview cooks it's own.

Good question. A lot of bbq chains smoke their meats in central locations, and then many of their restaurants re-heat and serve the meat from the locations which smoked the meat.

Does Sonny's in Leesburg cook their own?

Cinco 05-27-2009 07:47 PM

Can't answer 100%, but several weeks ago, while at Too Jay's, it looked like a huge smoking unit was being moved into the building. They had the street blocked while they unloaded it. If it wasn't a smoker, I can't image what it was. With that said, I'm not an expert on restaurant equipment.

I got spoiled

I got very spoiled on what I felt was the best BBQ in the world... Sconyer's in Augusta, Ga. The place became so popular I believe the owner ultimately became Mayor of Augusta. Anyone else ever eat there?

Just got back from having lunch at the new Sonny's. They were doing a practice session prior to opening officially tomorrow, Friday the 29th. Everything was great and the staff were excited. We asked our server whether they cooked everything here or at a central location and she said that it was all done in the restaurant including the smoking and the baking of biscuits and desserts.

We'll be back.

Sonny's BBQ

Love Sonny's.....so glad they are here.

vitacr 06-21-2009 08:08 PM

Sonny's

Ate there today for lunch - was great - unlike most other Sonny's.......this one has a "bar." The service, atmosphere, food and prices were great! Join their online club and print out a $5 coupon to be used on orders $25 or more. We used ours today. I'm so glad we can reach this one by golfcart and don't have to drive to Belleview anymore for Sonny's............:2excited::o
Happy Days,
Vitacr

I had lunch at Sonny's last week and it was about what I had expected. Nothing to fly the relatives in for but acceptable. After I finished my meal I did call the manager over and invited him to join me in a brief discussion. There were a couple of points I wanted to share with him that are a particular irritation to me:

1. Elder Speak - - - I find this offensive and just downright rude. When a twinky 19 yr. old girl brings me my food and says "here you are dear" or "would you like something else sweety?" I get heartburn. I have never seen this young person before and I am most assuredly is NOT her "dear" or "sweety". I am her customer and should be treated respectfully.

2. When I am eating a meal do NOT run the carpet sweeper beside, behind, around or under my table. All this does is lift the dirt in the air so it can find a happy home on my plate.

I know this may sound like the grumbling of a grumpy old man but I'm really not, so I say. I will comment that the manager was very understanding and not pleased to here of these behaviors. He assured me there would be a staff meeting shortly and these items would be on the agenda.

I thanked him and wished him and his staff good luck and good business in their new surroundings.

I might be a little too fussy, but I can't smell smoke anywhere near the Sonny's in TV.

You can surely smell smoke around the Sonny's in both Bellview and Leesburg.
