Women's Rally in Orlando
Anyone attending the Women's Rally at the Lake Eola Amphitheater in Orlando on Saturday January 21st at 1 pm? I'm planning on driving and could take some other peaceful advocates and defenders of women's rights, safety, health and families.
|
I would dearly love to go, but my husband is in home hospice and I can not leave. Best wishes to you. My spirit will be with you. Thank you for representing the women in our great nation.
|
I'm going! There is a group of 50+ ladies taking a bus and the cost is $25 each. Not sure if there is room available, but I could check if you like? We're keeping our fingers crossed that the weather holds out.....thunderstorms predicted for Saturday :-(

Women make approx 80% of what a man makes performing the same job in this country. Anybody who believe that women are treated the same as men are either naive or ignoring the obvious. Women in this country have come a long way in the last century, unfortunately, they still have a way to go.

all I can say is "meow". for goodness sake all the op did was offer a ride to like minded people. he or she did not ask for commentary. I have a dog that required medication several times a day or I would go.

To the OP, go and enjoy yourself. |
heck, I'd be going to Washington if I didn't have a sick dog. Any sense of equality women feel now was hard won in the 70's. I remember coming out of college and no matter what job I applied for I was automatically given a typing test. and told if a man applied for the same job, I'd never get it. Also, that I couldn't get a credit card on my own...the list goes on and on. It's too easy to become complacent.

I asked what it was about this rally that made people want to attend. No answers. The website provided is typical same ole, same ole. I would go to D.C. If it was the right rally. I would not go if it is a bunch of victims whining because they are victims. IMHO Volunteer at schools, churches and organizations where you can help young women improve their lives, Not a rally for a cause you can't even explain.
|
Why am I attending the rally?
Why am I attending the women's rally? I am a straight white woman, wife, mother and grandmother of six little girls. The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of my friends: people of color, the disabled, the GLBTQ community, people who have religious beliefs that are different from mine, immigrants. We will rally throughout the US in numbers too great for the new administration to ignore on their first day in office. We will march and stand together in solidarity with our partners and our children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families -- recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.

That sums it very well!

GG thats a very childish response. Im not a woman and Im not going anywhere, however, I have 2 daughters and 3 grandaughters that Im concerned about. I dont understand why women shouldnt try to make life better for themselves and their families.

........ What I find very interesting and puzzling, is that those women who would attack their own gender for standing up for equality and rights are the same ones who now benefit from those like yourselves...who did the same thing in previous generations. I just don't get it. |
