2 Dog Limit in The Villages
I would like to call all dog owners to look at their deeds and restrictions that they agreed to and signed when they bought their homes. At least in Santo Domingo, but probably throughout The Villages, you are only allowed to have one dog per household. In the Santo Domingo 'Declarations of Restrictions' it is item 2.23. I can't tell you how many dog walkers I see with more than one dog. Where do you go to complain about this and make these people follow the restrictions?
|
Posted in the Other Thread - Why Do You Care?
If they are not bothering you, why do you care? Maybe some are dog sitters and prefer to walk more than one at a time. BTW, my papers don't say how many.....just that they are not to be a nuisance and does not say anything about dogs....just pets. I don't think just being seen can be classified as a nuisance. (Hope I spelled that right.) IMHO

Deed Restrictions for each section of TV
The overall Deed Restriction document for The Villages does not mention a number, but at the end of that document there is a sentence that states that it is a summary and please take the time to read your Declaration of Restrictions for complete details of your responsibilities.
So - where I live it reads (in part) like this: Section 6. Birds, fish, dogs and cats shall be permitted, with a maximum of two (2) pets per Homesite. So you better not put two fish in that fish tank if you have a dog. |
@ dogs
Well, my Santo Doming restrictions specifically say dogs are limited to one per household. And they do bother me because these 'peopel' let their dogs pee in my grass. How obnoxious can you be. And don't tell me it doesn't hurt the grass. I've owned dogs and the grass turns brown where they pee. Also it's illegal to have the retractable leashes. They are limited to a certain length, I think 7 feet and are not to be retractable.

Where is the poll survey ...........?
I'd like to place my vote in the poll survey under Section B part A:
Section B ....... Get a Life part A ...... who cares? World global warming, Middle East castastrophe, unemployent at an all time high, economic meltdown and now we got to worry about how many dogs and where they pee. Write a letter to Al-Quaida and the Taliban. Ask them what they would do. Geeeeeesh! |
Please don't feed the trolls.
Ignore him...he is only baiting you guys. |
Keedy,
WhY not post your address so we can come over and pee on your grass? I don't think you'd like it a bit.. |
Gosh, we are getting testy!

Back to the original question -
Try calling Community Watch at 753-0550 and see what they have to say. Or try Sumter County Animal Control at 352-793-1470. (Our Covenants and Restrictions states, "All city and county pet ordinances should be adhered to." Ask them about the specific pet ordinances and hopefully they can explain to you exactly what your neighbor's dog can legally do/not do on your yard.) Or call an attorney - wait - that's will keep the attorney's wallet green, not your lawn. |

I am puzzled when I read things like this and wonder where so much animosity comes from toward dogs and dog owners. I don't have a dog, we have cats, but I so enjoy seeing dogs taking their owners for a walk and I love to visit my friends who have dogs so I can pet them and play with them. I have to think that people who feel like this are afraid of dogs. I am almost 70 and I have never had a dog behave aggressively toward me. Perhaps I am just lucky that I have never had one scare me. |
I'm sorry, I should stay out of this, but you guys just gave me the biggest laugh of the week:a20: I left NY state to get away from people who complain about where dogs pee. Someone said "get a life" and "who cares". Funny those same thoughts came to my mind Handie |
I don't have a dog. I was going to, but my future husband (as of Friday) had to put his sweet dog to sleep yesterday. I hope to have another one soon (don't worry, we don't live in Santa Domingo), but I wonder what motivates a person to start a thread that he has to know will alienate a large portion of his neighbors! And then, when most people have commented on that one, to start this one and continue the anger!I don't think this is as much about dogs as it is about a discontent life and a basic intolerance of other people's lifestyles.

Someone doesn't like dogs peeing on his lawn and all of a sudden he's discontented with life? Are you kidding? Get a grip...

You express concerns that newbies/wannabes might read scandalous posts such as these and be disillusioned about TV. First, TOTV is not TV. Theoretically, there's about 70,000 residents of TV, full and part-time. The percentage of those who are active posters on TOTV is minuscule. Additionally, TOTV has other posters. There are a few who are former TVers who delight in denigrating everything Villages. There are those who've never been here or came once for a long weekend in 1995 who consider them selves experts. There are the professional nay sayers who swear the place would collapse without the unselfish dedication of the POA and there are those who have their daily dose of "I love Gary Morse" kool aid before their morning coffee. And there are those who just love to argue politics. But the vast, vast majority of residents really don't give a damn. They get their news from the Daily Sun and the other available newspapers. They really don't care that much about the topics we discuss. They found a great place to live. They love to play golf, bocce, or paddleball, bowl, or gather for bingo, bunco, or bridge. They go out for dinner with friends and have monthly driveway happy hour parties. The have the grandkids down for swimming and shuffleboard and Camp Villages. Most of these people have never heard of TOTV or have no interest. Most a decent people, some phenomenally so, but some are blithering jerks. Some are a joy to be around and some poison every group they join with their negative attitudes. They're people. ` |

Don't forget the memorial of and investigation into the death of MICHAEL JACKSON  |
Ghosts
Those people who go around looking for ghosts with all the latest equipment, claim they saw the ghosts of Elvis and M. Jackson. They were fighting and making all kinds of eerie noises. When they moved in closer they saw Elvis on Michael's chest and he was violently banging Michael's head against the floor yelling at the top of his lungs, " That's for marrying my daughter!!!!!!!" :cus:

This creates a problem
We have two old dogs and two cats and plan to move to TV. Now I don't know if we can. We travel for months at a time with all four and never have a problem. I knew there had to be some problem with TV. I think I found it. I could never part with one of "our family". Puts us in a real conundrum.

Just do what most do, move in with what you have and
live life like you normally do and no one will ever comment of take any action.
The so called rule is really a guideline. Guidelines include averaging and common sense. How many have zero? Who counts? One/two/three/four? Ditto. Don't let the pet counters stop you from moving to TV. Let's look at the pet "guideline" the way most here view the speed limit....bring on the herd!!!! btk |

More pets
Section 6. Birds, fish, dogs and cats shall be permitted, with a maximum of two (2) pets per Homesite.
So if there are 50 homesites on your street then only 100 pets would be allowed. Alot of my neighbors don't have pets so I guess I can go shopping for a few more.:a20: |
What I know is what I would personally do.....I would move
to TV and not worry about the pet count.
There are several in our village that have more than one dog and it bothers no one.....as one would expect here in TV the majority are responsible owners, hence no issues....except count. I merely use the comparison to the speed limit for a practical conscience lightening example. The speed limit is much more enforceable and almost no does the speed limit.....the pet count is virtually impossible to enforce (who has what number of birds?...cats?....guinea pigs?....snakes?...etc? So if you have no regrets breaking the law and driving faster than the speed limit where you endanger you fellow neighbors lives.....violating the pet count that is impossible to enforce.....and endangers no one. It is a non issue in my opinion and an individual decision. I wouldn't hesitate a nano second. btk |
this is all a joke right? I sure hope I dont have a neighbor who has nothing better to do than troll and gripe all day.

I'm sensitive to enforcement of deed restrictions. It happens when you least expect it.
There are thousands and thousands and thousands of residents who do some kind of little business from their home. Tree trimming, ebay, home watch, computer repair, whatever. We were issued a citation from the deed restrict office that TOTV can't operate in The Villages because it violates the "no business in The Villages rule" Our server is in Alberta, Canada, our business office is in Pennsylvania, our IT office is in Tennessee, but we get some mail here at our house, so we're in violation. Now we have to get a PO box outside of the Villages. Who wooda thunk? One of our members turned us in. |

You have made an important revelation here. So important that I think it deserves a new topic and I would like to respond to it there. Perhaps titled "What constitutes a commercial activity in TV? |
mitchtofla please chill out!! We live on the corner and every dog that passes our house pee's on the grass. I don't think it will cause my early demise so I don't care.
We have friends who have two dogs and one who has two cats and I can't imagine why I would ever want to "report" them. Are you the guy who calls the archetectural committee every time you see someone working on their house????? I have far too busy a life to care who has what. Glad you don't live in our wonderful and friendly neighborhood. |
Keedy, I concur.....pee-ple pee-ple who need pee-ple are the luckiest pee- ple in the world....as long as they don't live in Santo Domingo!!!
