Typical treatment in The Villages

It's nice to read your positive post. A similar encounter happened to me back when I moved here in 2008. Entering a tunnel my cellphone slid out of the golf car and down through the sewer grate. Fortunately, it happened to land on a ledge but there was no way for me to get to it. I contacted the maintenance department and they dispatched a truck with 2 employees. They removed the grate and one of them entered the abyss to retrieve my cellphone. And, yes, neither of them would accept a gratuity of any kind.
It's wonderful to read that this sort of benefit still exists here.

Mountaineer, we had a flat on our golf cart just as we started to play and one of the Ambassadors insisted we use his cart and while we played one of them pumped up our tire well enough to get us home.

I love this place and it's people.

Typical here. We had one of the big wigs from a country club come out and help us change a tire. They gave us a loaner to use. Somebody know how to please customers. Sort of what we expect.:icon_wink:

Thanks for all the good news - although we shouldn't accept anything different. It is The Villages after all. What a wonderful place!

Typical for the Villages.....that great. But I lived in a major city and people were willing to help. The Villages is nothing special for help. Nice people are everywhere. You dont need to move to the Villages to find them.

Was at the gym today and forgot to put my lock on my locker!

Worked out and everything was there when I returned. It's the second time I did this!!!

Where I came from, it would be a miracle if everything was there but in TV, it's commonplace.

I agree that there are many, many, many, reasons to love the Villages. So often we focus on the little things that go wrong and forget all the things that go right. I get so tired of all the doom and gloom in the media and entertainment. It takes a toll on us and on our younger generation. We need to focus on what's right in our communities because that's what we'll see more of. Friendships, clubs, hobbies, and smiling gate keepers, what more can we ask for?

I have heard that Hill Top has some of the nicest views in the Villages.

A Sumter County cop stopped when my car broke down on Morse and stayed right behind me until a tow truck came. This was back in the late Fall 2005 just after we moved here. I wrote a letter thanking the Sumter County Sheriff for having so courteous an officer. Sheriff Bill Farmer sent me a nice response back in a letter. I also got to tell him a little bit about my survivors' rights project which he acknowledged. I did not use the 224 and 613 numbers I sometimes do. Which is par for the course when dealing with someone who is just hearing about this effort of mine for the first time.

There are nice people in as well as near the Villages as well.

I would write them a letter. I mean whoever runs this Hill Top course. Not sure if any of these people will see it on TOTV.

Why wouldn't we expect this? I have not found ANY rec employees, ambassadors, starters, or restaurants that don't try to be courteous and helpful to customers. Most time it's the employee having to put up with nasty customer? Hats off to hill top guys for not charging for the gas, gas not cheap or convenient to get.

This is probably good time to to remind us to think ahead. Especially with rentals. I never jump in rental and just drive off without checking the fluids, inspecting for body damage. Why cause I will be responsible for any damage that not prior identify. I dang sure don't want to be on the road with low tire, low on oil or anti freeze.

Along with gas, oil is also important fluid in gas golf cart. Might be good time to remind to do pre-inspection on our golf carts before day travel which would include gas, oil, tire pressure. I be willing to bet majority just jump in and drive off, most newer carts at least have gas gage and some even have low fuel light. We do know unless you put nitrogen in tires, air pressure will loose a pound or two month due to temperature changes. So if we haven't checked our tire pressure in while I'll be they are low.

We moved her in 2008...Happiest 9 yrs of my life...I'm black and blue from pinching myself to see if I'm dreaming...and I feel sorry for all the moaners and groaners but I realize TV isn't for everybody..to them I say adiose and hope you find happiness elsewhere

The villages are great, hope the developer stays on board till it's time to croak.

Very complicated Henryk but I am getting a lot more smiles about it here in the Villages. Look at my threads in the Political Forum and you should be able to tell.

Shortly after moving here we pulled into a parking spot on the Square and it happen to be near to a man and his wife who were having golf cart trouble. We were pleased to be able to help. About a month later I was riding with my golfing buddy when his cart "gave out" near Arnold Palmer's. Shortly a guy came along and gave us a tow.

One good deed deserves another!

The villages should be in the dictionary under pay it foward.

If you are pulled over in your cart, the majority of people will stop and ask if you need help before moving past you.

You often read about expensive items being found and reported. All of the volunteering here is so amazing. We have so many people who lead groups or teach art or ceramics for years and never make a dime.

So many good people!
