Gun Bill
Has anyone heard of this House Resolution?

Voting for it would be the kiss-of-death for any rural or semi-rural politician - Democrat or Republican. |

I clearly will never understand why you need to take a concealed weapon into church or a bar..... |
IF
If it is concealed you would not know it so why do you care.

HE PULLED IT AND POINTED IT AT ME I really cared when he did that. |

Cologal, what's the rest of the story? Yoda |
Being a gun enthusiast and a trained liscensed to carry
citizen.....and member of several shooting organizations, world wide....I am aware of their almost impeccable record for safety.
I also understand there are abnormal incidents in any statistical universe...in this case those with CCW permits. I would understand not wanting to discuss details of such a personal incident....but since it was offered for discourse it would be extremely helpful to understand how such an anomaly occurred. btk |

If you look at the post I have to be in the wrong either I did something wrong to provoke the gun owner into pulling a gun or if he didn't have a license then it doesn't matter that he pulled the gun and I am just a liberal blowing smoke. The point is HE DID HAVE A GUN IN HIS FANNY PACK AND HE PULLED IT OUT If he had shot and killed me would I be any less dead because he didn't have a license? To answer the question what did I do? I saw the man throwing rocks at a dog as I was driving by. I rolled down my window and told him to stop. I won't repeat what he replied. Nonplussed I pulled over, got out of my gun and got between him and the dog. Again told him to stop....when I turned around to return to my car he pulled the gun, in a true cowardly fashion. When I turned back I was looking at a BIG silver gun. The rest of the story is I followed him home...then went to the police station reported the issue and ultimately he spent the weekend in jail because he couldn't make bail. So I did bring charges....even came home to testify but they gave him a plea deal....don't know what it was cause no one called me to let me know. I will say again...On a liberal scale I am center left. Socially liberal and financially conservative. |

But it did change my prospective...before this incident twice I have stood up to men hitting women in a public place. Both times in a parking lot...now I can't take the chance...because I can't be sure if the guy has a gun. That is a sad thing because often these women can't or won't stand up for themselves. |
It seems to me that any man who would throw rocks at a dog or beat up a woman, just might not care if it was legal to carry a gun or not. Gun laws will only affect law abiding citizens.

cologal, very interesting account of your encounter.
I am intrigued by the change of events....from being in a position to be held at gun point, then resolved to being able to follow the the person who did so.
Anyway the circumstance has nothing to do with legal gun ownership, by the majority who we would all be thankful they are armed. Guns are not the issue....the people who have them illegally are. The gun is no more responsible for the violence than the eraser on a pencil is responsible for misspelled words. btk |

On some of this I can agree...but access to guns can be an issue. Like the shooter at Virgina Tech....he had a history of mental illness no way should he have been able to buy a gun. If a man or women has a history of domestic violence they should NOT have access to a gun. Just look at the number of children killed this year by their father. I think just 2 weeks ago a family of 5 was wiped out. This would just be common sense. |
