Wolfgang Puck

I know there is a Wolfgang Puck restaurant at Disney Springs. Has anybody eaten there or any other of their restaurants? Since there are plans for one at Brownwood, just wondering what to expect. :welcome:

Ate at his restaurant in Vegas----very good.

I've had dinner at Spago's on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood a few years ago. It was excellent, but not holding any hopes that this new place will be comparable.

clekr 05-11-2017 01:40 PM

Went to the one in Vega 10 years ago. It will be $150 and you'll have to go to McDonald's afterwards.

I said it was good. Not cheap, not plentiful, but good:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl: Besides, in Vegas, you can go sit down at a slot machine or BJ table dinner, have 4 or 5 free drinks, and you won't remember the portion size or the bill:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

CFrance 05-11-2017 02:29 PM

What was said is that it will be a Wolfgang Puck designed restaurant. I wonder what that means. As in the Guy Fieri place, does that just mean Puck will lend his name? I dunno. $150 for dinner is not going to fly in TV.

is that $150 per meal?????

redwitch 05-11-2017 04:01 PM

Dusted to go to his restaurant in San Francisco a lot before a play. Rarely dined there, but thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers and pizza at the bar. Prices a lot less at the bar and portions were more filling. Dining there for a full meal was fine dining at its best -- pricey, small portions but great taste, presentation and service. It was a great place to go for some pampering.

"A great place for pampering". "And appetizers and pizza at the bar". Sounds like this was something for everyone.

Of course, regarding this Brownwood restaurant we will have to wait to see if it will be similar. I still wonder if anyone has been to the Wolfgang Puck at Disney.

As usual, The Villages Gourmet Club website has some details of the Wolfgang Puck restaurant. Interesting!

In California~ the butternut squash soup was AMAZING.....(also approved by the hubby!)

pauld315 05-11-2017 05:32 PM

Probably be a lot like the one in Charlotte NC. Not really high end.

Yes have been to Pucks at Disney Springs many times. Downstairs you can have pizza sandwiches great desserts and there's a bar on the other side. Have eaten there many times great food, I don't find it overly priced. Upstairs is more upscale dinners The food there is excellent also. I'm comparing it to eating at emeralds over at Universal. Excellent service and good food in upstairs part. I can't say that we spent more 60 or $70 for dinner. But we are not big eaters.

He also has a quick service with great eat in or take away. Breakfast pizza is really good

Menus

Well, there's an interesting disparity in the Wolfgang Puck menu at Disney and the Wolfgang Puck menu in Las Vegas, both in food offered and prices.

Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe Menu - Disney Springs

CUT, Las Vegas - Wolfgang Puck

Which incarnation do you expect in The Villages?

Spikearoni 05-11-2017 09:11 PM

We went to Spago in LA. While we enjoyed the meal, the best part of the experience was that Betty White et al, was seated at a nearby table. I couldn't keep from eavesdropping on their conversation. Such fun!

Looks about right for The Villages and the menu looks good.

We dined often at Wolfgang Puck Grill in California before moving here. I actually tried and failed to open one in Brownwood when it was first under development. I found the number of permanent residents in TV would not come as the prices would be higher than most, and the developer wanted unrealistic rent. I wish them well and will patronize. Since Brownwood took a long time to catch on I am glad I backed off. $150.00 is not realistic, this is no Spago.

Wolfgang Puck

A number of years ago, Puck opened a restaurant in Sawgrass Mills in Broward County. It lasted several years before closing due to lack of business. I operated a large Jewelry Exchange 2 doors away and they were overpowered bo Cheesecake Factory. Their menu was uninspiring.

justjim 05-12-2017 09:34 AM

Doran, you are spot on, Brownwood has taken a bit longer than Lake Sumter Landing to develop. With some of the recent announcements, (especially development south of 44) it appears that Brownwood may see a "flurry" of action.

The new hotel and Wolfgang Puck restaurant will be a good addition to Brownwood.

Had dinner at restaurant in Orlando. I thought extremely overpriced, menu options very limited, portions small

CUT in Vegas is a high end steakhouse. A very high end steakhouse. Think Kobe beef, Huge lobster tails, top quality grass fed beef, etc. If you're on a roll ( hey, it's Vegas), it's well worth it at an average of $100 per person.

Disney Springs is a totally different story and menu. Very good food but a lot less $$ than CUT.

Wolfgang has several food concepts out. Which one this will be is TBD but I've never had a bad meal at any of his places. And for sure, I'll be going to this new joint before I hit the Guy Fieri place.

perrjojo 05-14-2017 09:53 AM

Disney has a Wolfgang Puk Grand Cafe and Wolfgang Puk Express. Two totally different experiences.

waterlily 05-14-2017 10:49 AM

Wolfgang Puck & Gut Fieri's are just franchises. Think Bonefish Grill.

Chatbrat 05-14-2017 12:45 PM

cookie cutter food with a designer touch

EnglishJW 05-28-2017 03:30 PM

We had lunch this winter at the Wolfgang Puck in Disney Springs. Maybe it was just a bad day but the meals (presentation especially) were not at all satisfying. The staff was friendly but that was about the only positive thing we would say about the experience. Oh, nice views from some tables.

Mimivillager 05-28-2017 04:04 PM

Hubby and I ate at Wolfgang Puck in Disney Springs before going to the Cirque de Soleil next door. Food was OK. They charged hubby $1.50 for ice in his gin and tonic. (6.25 +1.50) They did not tell him up front. He noticed it on the bill.

They don't charge for the ice. Here is what the charge is.
************************************************** **
Guests are noticing a line on their receipt that reads something like, “$$ROCKS $2.00″. I thought I might try to explain that you are not actually being charged for the ICE.
The ‘rocks’ you are paying for is an up charge for the additional alcohol added to your drink. When a guest orders a drink ‘on the rocks’ or maybe ‘up’, typically you are getting an additional .5-1.0 fluid ounces on top of the standard single shot.Standard shots vary with every establishment. The majority will give you a 1.5 oz pour with a mixed drink.

It's very European sophisticated to charge for ice.

Mimivillager 05-29-2017 06:08 AM

My hubby was not asked if he wanted rocks or not. Typically, that is how a g&t is served. 1.5 oz is plenty. We have never seen that anywhere else in the world.

Although I rarely partake of alcohol, the thought that ice would be an additional charge...is astounding to me. :22yikes:

What's next, adding the cost of the glass and a napkin?

KennyP 05-29-2017 06:42 AM

Crazy how everything turns to price.

JoMar 05-29-2017 09:26 PM

JoMar 05-29-2017 09:29 PM

And did anyone read Bonny's post which is a logical explanation?

It wasn't even $150 per meal in LV unless you did some serious imbibing of expensive spirits.

Wolfgang Puck

Heck, why don't we just write this place off before we even know what is planned. Yup, that's the ticket!

And no homes in Fenney will ever sell, and the golf courses aren't worthy of playing, and the sky is falling...why are we even living here?

Oh, and I'm going to park poorly forever - SHEESH, get a grip people!

Amen to that! [emoji41]. And they should get away from the keyboard and take a walk once in awhile.
