Lobstah Roll dilemma
Had lobstah roll at Beach Plum in Hampton, NH on Sunday, had one today at Sullivan's on Castle Island in South Boston. They are both best I ever had, all lobstah, only a hint of of butter on a toasted NE type hot dog bun. The view from both places is beautiful and free! Can't beat it.

I care and I'm jealous. If you're still up there stop at Lena's Clam Shack in Salisbury Beach. Same family runs that in the summer and Lena's down here in Silver Springs on Rt 40 Nov-May. And why doesn't any supermarket down here sell NE style hot dog rolls with the split top?

Omg! Another Lena's fan. Please don't provide directions or respond to any questions. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |
Know Lena's very well. Will be in Maine next, I'll add my favorites from down there then!
Oh, I should also mention the baked scallops at Landfall Restaurant in Woods Hole, the best eva ! Just eating our way thru NE........ |

You must have lobstah 3 times per day if you are a true New Englander. (Vermont doesn't count). Try a lobstah omlet for breakfast. Lobstah roll for lunch, and lobstah newburg or a baked stuffed lobstah for dinnah. Pure heaven. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

Should lobster rolls be served hot or cold? Seems to me northeast of Boston they've been cold, with mayo. West of Boston served hot, with melted butter. I prefer the melted butter.
|
Best lobster roll IS found at Red's Eats in Wiscasset, Maine.
Downright delicious and the lobster roll contains all the meat from the entire lobster. |

Been there. You are understating the fabulous flavor. But great effort, and I understand your love for the lobstah. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

Mine is perfect. I have no accent. I am from Standish Maine. Ayup ayup! (Ayup is a backdraft) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |
Best Lobstah roll down here is at the Celebration Town Tavern. They're so close to the airport I believe they have fresh New England seafood flown in daily. Ipswich fried clams, Large delicious scallops and cold water Maine lobsters. It'seems about an hour from The Villages
|
lobster rolls are served cold with little bit of mayo. Boiled lobster or baked stuffed lobster is served hot with drawn butter. Beach Plum now has 3 restaurants in NH (Hampton, Epping and Portsmouth). They are WONDERFUL. Their lobster bisque is the best I have ever had (huge chunks of lobster meat, not just soup) and I was born and raised north of Boston.
|
Best lobstah rolls are Bob's Clam Shack in Kittery Maine! The best fried clams and scallops too! Located next door to Kittery Trading Post, Kittery, ME just off Exit 3 on Maine Turnpike!
|
Best lobster roll at Fat Boys in Brunswick. The lobster can be cold but the buttered roll should be freshly toasted

Ok, we all have our favorite lobstah places! But I think we all agree that MA, ME, and NH are THE places to enjoy. My son in law told us about Red's the other day, might have to check it out.
And paper1, my accent is off because I grew up in the land of the best cinnamon buns in the entire world, Philadelphia! Lived in Boston area for about 35 years. Feeling a need for lobstah omelet. |
OpMoochler, any idea brand name on those buns? I can't find them.
|
Has anyone had a lobster roll on the Veranda of The Chatham Bars Inn in Cape Cod? Last year it was $35+ per lobster roll and I can honestly say it was worth every penny. We could not finish the roll, I'm going back this year just to make sure I was not imagining it.
They have elevated the Lobster Roll to food fit for the Gods! |
Red's Eats in Wiscasset, ME. By far the best Lobster Rolls.

The Maine Dinah!!

Here's a photo of a lobster roll (minus one bite) from James Hook & Co. in Boston. Delicious.

Around here check out the food trucks. We've had Cousin's Maine Lobster as seen on Shark Tank up at Buffalo Ridge and at Mount Dora.
