New Construction?
As I was traveling to the Walmart near Oxford, I noticed teams of surveyors and dozens of marker sticks being placed in the huge lot in front of Bealls. By chance, does anybody know what might be going to be built there?

Petsmart?

I heard from the cousin of a friend that it is Costco.......isn't it where pets mart is going
|
Petsmart is going in West of Bealls. This is the big lot South of Bealls.
|
Pet smart is on the side of Bealls where the machines are working I believe the Daily SUN posted . IF THIS is the piece in front of Bealls then it's something else
|
No way costco there. Not enough room.

Petsmart will be built west (to the left) of Bealls. Additional parking will be added to a portion of the vacant lot between the existing parking and Wedgewood Lane.

I was asking the franchiser of the Jersey Mike's location in front of Target if he had given up on putting in a second location in TV. Last year he opened a second location in Mt. Dora when he couldn't find a suitable place at Brownwood. He said they were putting in a small strip center next to Fresh Market and he was hoping to put a Jersey Mike's in there. They had requested their usual size footprint, a 1200 sf store at Brownwood and TV told them they had to rent at least 4,000 sf. They were unable to go into any of the new shopping centers at Pinellas, Traverse or Rohan because TV gave Subway an exclusive on those.
Nationally Jersey Mike's opened 197 stores in just 2015, which put them over 1,000 locations. They are now America's fastest growing restaurant chain and currently have 1500 locations either open or under construction. |
4000 sq. ft. Minimum???

Trader Joe's would fit in that area maybe. |

Subway but no other Sub sandwich restaurant such as Jersey Mikes? I suppose this is good business but this policy certainly stifles competition.

It's not about competition. It's about locking in market share for the retailer, and revenue for the developer. Nothing wrong with good old capitalism. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |
It was announced what is going in front of Bealls but now I cannot tell you what it is. Whatever it was was nothing that was exciting for me. So it definitely was not a Costco!

http://barclaygroup.com/wp-content/u...-B-4-24-17.jpg From the map on the Barclay Group website, there appears to be a motel on the east edge next to Sand Hill Executive occupying 3 acres. In the far northwest corner will be 8 buildings each 3 stories with 36 apartments in each building on 21 acres, that would be just south of Tamarind Grove. In the southwest corner will be 10 office buildings each 6,000 sf. The Circle K gas station would be in the middle at the intersection with the red light and across the intersection appears to be where Aldis will be located. Behind the hotel adjacent to the Village of St. James will be senior living on 7 acres, it appears to be one large long building with a courtyard. Next to senior living will be 7 buildings of varying sizes of retail, probably good locations for decorators, shutters and blinds, etc. TRAILWINDS VILLAGE | Barclay Group |

Don't forget about retail space for another mattress store

I'm not certain, but I don't recall any mattress stores in Villages retail space. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |
Jersey Mike's is 1000 times better than the Subway crap. They could go across the street from Traverse Plaza. That is not under the iron fist of TV.

They might try Trailwinds as I understand there will be a strip mall in there. Also, suppose to be a strip mall on the north side of 466A just east of Burke's BQ. Eventually, Jersey Mikes will find a spot......

Great, you'll be one less person in line at Jersey Mike's, you know they are America's fastest growing restaurant and if you go in the Lady Lake location and don't see a line, it must be 9:00 at night. 50% more expensive, quality costs more, everybody knows that. You even said they said they cut meat for your sandwich right in front of you, maybe you prefer the meat cut out-of-sight and stored in the under counter cooler until you order that Italian BMT 6 hours later. Jersey Mike's Cheese Steak Sub with grilled pepper and onions cooked while you wait, or you can go to subway where the cooking is done in a microwave. http://ot-foodspotting-production.s3...JPG?1397532278 |
Never heard of Jersey Mike's. Looks like another sub shop!

Love Jersey Mikes - just had the #9 Club Supreme on rosemary parmesan bread yesterday...

If you don't want to wait in line, you can order online and pickup at the time that you specify, bypassing the line. They make a nice sandwich. Jersey Mike's |

Wonderful food isn't always found where they serve booze. Number one fact of dining. I am so glad I can cook. I can fix what I like. It has to be good or I have to be tired to leave my own cooking. Gourmet Chatbrat. Get the Cabbage Beef soup, only served on Wednesdays at TooJays. And the half brisket sandwich on rye with horseradish sauce and have a glass of Yeungling with it. Sweet. Well not sweet...but you get where I'm goin'. |
This thread is supposed to be about construction near Bealls. Sheesh! :loco:
