Gate Cards

I would like to purchase additional gate cards so we can keep one in each car and each golf cart.

Will they allow more than 2 or do they only allow replacement of lost cards?

Where would I go to purchase?

Thanks!

Yes, you can purchase additional gate cards. Go to 984 Old Mill Run (Lake Sumter Landing). The entrance is in the vestibule beside Starbucks. They're $15

It is my understanding the latest version of gate cards have an improved antenna.

I think that's correct. They called and asked us to return our old gate cards and substituted new ones.

I have one of two cards that quit working, will they replace that for free or do I have to pay the $15.

I believe they come in pairs......since the cards are coded and are cataloged to your residence. When they cancel the one that failed in the system it also cancels all other cards assigned to that residence. That means you will get a free one for the one that failed but will have to buy the second one and third and fourth. We did the same thing about 6 months ago. However, that was 6 months or so ago, things might have changed. Best is to call the District Office.

e-flyer 05-31-2017 11:39 PM

Thanks for the info. I really only need one for our car, so I'll wait until I lose remaining card or it quits working. :-)

Bring your registration. I had three cars, had to show that before they would give me another gate pass.

What if you have two cars, a motorcycle and two Golf carts, can you get 5 cards?

Gate Card Services

When replacing gate cards, the homeowner should bring all remaining gate cards as they are issued in sets of two. Lost or stolen gate cards will be replaced at a $15.00 charge per card. Homeowners can also purchase additional gate cards for a $15.00 charge. A total of four gate cards can be issued per home. The payment types accepted are Cash, Check, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover.

If the homeowner can not be present to replace a lost card or to purchase an additional card, the homeowner must complete the Gate Card Authorization form and have it notarized.

New cards are exactly same as old cards

I just talked to gate card services and they stated that there is no improvement in the gate cards, a ten year old card is the exact same as a one day old card. There is no improvement in range.

rustyp 06-01-2017 06:04 PM

One does not need a gate card unless you are exiting / entering at the Berlin Wall on the historic side. Go to visitors entrance and push red button. I never carry one on the golf cart - too easy to get stolen. An aside rumor mill says stolen cards were being sold to enter the Berlin Wall after outsiders were shutout for $50. I've played every executive and championship golf course in The Villages and did not need a card to get there.

ColdNoMore 06-01-2017 06:37 PM

The gates around here, while giving some a false sense of comfort and security, are actually just... 'horizontally hovering speed bumps.' :D

jchase 06-01-2017 06:46 PM

I have three cars and two golf carts, so the answer is yes you can. I just had to show my registrations to my cars.

alanmcdonald 06-03-2017 01:25 PM

Well, we replaced our two cards from 2013 and bought two new ones. Even though they said the cards were no different now, the new ones open the gates far easier.

dolphin 06-05-2017 08:41 AM

Only two cards. Simple solution. One card in each car. Hit the button when in golf carts. Just as easy as card

DMWalters 06-05-2017 10:14 AM

We lost our two original gate cards, and paid for replacements. We were told that they will only replace them once. From reading the above posts, it sounds like we can purchase additional ones? How many can a residence have?

I was just in the gate pass
office to get new "improved" gate passes. The gal said that they are not improved...same gate passes. She said that was just a rumor going around. She exchanged mine anyhow. I hope there is not a rush on the gate pass office due to this rumor...they will have to hire more people😂

OhioBuckeye 06-05-2017 12:49 PM

I don't know why anybody would need more than 2 cards or an extra one for another car. Just go through the visitors side, they can't keep you from entering, they're county roads. There's no need for an extra card. As far as a replacement for a lost card, I think there might be a fee for it & if there isn't a fee, then just tell them you lost it. I had a card that wouldn't let me enter or exit the little gate to go to WalMart at Paradise because for some reason I got my same card back from my first home & the little gate at Paradise wasn't there then. To put it simple we couldn't keep our first home gate passes because they said they had to issue new ones for our 2nd house, so I don't think you'll get a 3rd card. Hope this helps answer your question!

I agree, however not all entrances to The Villages have a "Visitors Side", e.g., the entrance from CR 466 to Belvedere.

How can that be if we are not a gated community?

 Be careful THE RED BUTTON DOESN'T BITE YOU! Also it's pretty easy to use.... not to many moving parts!:coolsmiley:

I don't use that particular entrance, but does it have a little red button on it?

If so, then I'm guessing it's the same as the 'visitor's' (or even the 'resident's') side of other entrances.

Southern Trace, off of 466, has only one gate and you can push the red button and the gate opens immediately.

We're not a gated community.

Gated communities don't allow the gates to go up almost immediately...after pushing a button.

:agree:I would think anyone who doesn't know that either doesn't live here or is really uninformed.

Perhaps you did not understand the original question.

Allegiance 06-05-2017 07:01 PM

The implication was that since it was not a visitors gate it had no button. Knowing we are not a gated community I asked if it was possible. Please reread my question and the thread before you cast insults.

Oh dear!

Moderator 06-05-2017 07:04 PM

The original topic was the process to replace gate cards. Please stay on topic and don't direct comments AT each other.
