Moving to TV hopefully soon

Hi Everyone,
I'm so excited as my husband and I have bought a lot to build in the Village of Sumter. Now we just need to try and sell our home!! We presently live in Palm Harbor, Fla. but relocated years ago from Buffalo and Southern Indiana. We've been to TV several times and decided to finally retire. It's so nice to see so many positive things written about TV and so many friendly people. Can't wait for the "experience". Cheryl

Hi Cheryl....Congratulations and welcome. :beer3: My sister and her family lived in Palm Harbor for many years....a nice area, but I am sure you can't wait to get to TV. We are in So. Florida and looking forward to our permanent move in February.

champion6 09-05-2009 06:58 PM

Welcome, Cheryl. Is the Village of Sumter in The Villages? I can't recall hearing of it before.

graciegirl 09-06-2009 08:09 AM

Welcome! You need to tell us more about the house you are building. Which model is it?

dacl1616 09-06-2009 08:56 AM

Yes, it's below Lake Miona close to Cane Gardens. It's very new.

army one 09-06-2009 08:59 AM

You will be as happy and as busy as you want to be here. Welcome

dacl1616 09-06-2009 08:59 AM

We're building the Chatham. My mother, who is 82, lives with us and the house is split enough to give her (and us) our own space and privacy!!

dacl1616 09-06-2009 09:00 AM

That's great!! I hope I'm on my way there by then. So you're from Utica originally?

Yes, right by it. Just to the west!! It's on the bottom west side of Lake Miona. Actually, we didn't even know the name of it until we looked on our lot survey!! We're going to take a ride up there today!! I need a little fill of walking around the square.

Great to hear from you. You're right, can't WAIT to get there. I'm just learning how to reply on this so I did send you a message to your mailbox too!! I think I was using the wrong icon before.

Me Too

dac1616,
Congratulations! We bought a house Friday. It's in the Village of St. Charles. We are on Dove Hollow Run, and close to Pennecamp. We can't be too far from you. We are very excited. This went much faster than we anticipated. I'm sure you will love it here.

graciegirl 09-06-2009 12:58 PM

Welcome Kitty and Cheryl.

It is so wonderful in TV. I wish we could just get there full time.

katezbox 09-06-2009 02:35 PM

Cheryl,

It sounds as if you are in Pennecamp or St Charles (or St James, if they have started building there.) I have not heard of a Village of Sumter. The Morse Family builds under the corporate name The Villages of Lake Sumter, Inc. Could that be what is on your map? The only Village I know of with Sumter in it is Lake Sumter landing - where the cottages are. But then again - we have HOW many villages with "Bridgeport" in the name?

swrinfla 09-06-2009 04:06 PM

kate:

Bridgeport at Lake Sumter
Bridgeport at Lake Miona
Bridgeport at Miona Shores

Now, that'll confuse anyone!

But, I think you're right, that dad1616 confused things.

Not to confuse folks, but I flew over TV this morning with my brother. There's disturbed ground out where the Brownwood Town Square will be, but no sign of other construction south of CR466A.

Hey Kitty,
I hope everything goes ok for us. We bought a lot and now need to sell our home. Hopefully it happens. We took a ride up there today just to look at the lot again and go into Lake Sumter. We just love it. I really feel bad when I leave. So where are you from? It's really nice to hear from you. I haven't really been on here though I signed up a year ago but I'm going to update my picture and keep in touch here as it makes me feel closer to the "move".
That's great that we're close by. We'll have to meet up one of these days!!
If you get the chance to write back, please do. I haven't mastered this website yet so hopefully the response will get to you ok!!
Look forward to hearing from you,
Cheryl

First, I love the picture as I'm an animal lover and have dogs of my own. Well, I'm really not sure what it's called where we bought as there aren't many homes there and nothing really says!! The name of our street is Lake Ridge Drive and you do take Pennecamp to get to it. I'm going to email our realtor and find out. This is really pretty funny that I don't even know the village but it's pretty bare right now!! I'm lucky I know the street!!

Do you think you might be there full time soon? How often are you able to come?

Welcome to The Villages! I'm sure you've done your research and it's not an issue, but since there was some confusion on where you were buying a lot and building a home, I just want to make sure you're aware of the bond and yearly maintenance assessment that go with that lot. Since you're building a premier model home in Pennecamp, that will definitely be a few dollars. Sometimes we get caught up in the excitement and don't pay attention to the details. Good luck selling your current home and building the new one!

katezbox 09-07-2009 09:28 AM

Dacl,

Welcome, welcome! It is just beautiful over there in Pennecamp. I hope you will be very happy here in TV.

We're well aware of all the charges. We've been there several times looking. We had no idea of the village though since it's not really posted and where they're building it's not even on the map yet!! We've looked in many villages but didn't find quite what we were looking for. Our contract papers don't even mention the village only the parcel and street. We're also well aware of the litigation going on between TV and the IRS. That's probably our biggest concern because after moving there we don't want to get another assessment fee for thousands and thousands to help pay the IRS back. Thanks for the info. though!!

katezbox 09-07-2009 04:59 PM

Dacl-

I just looked at The Chatham and it looks beautiful. I think Ivy was referring to the bond associated with each home - not the VCDD bonds that are at issue with the IRS.

I realize that. That's why I wrote back that I am well aware of all the expenses. Our bond is 45,000.00. I was just saying that if the IRS wins, everyone's going to be paying about that much more!! After all they're looking at a 360 million payback. I don't mind the first bond but I certaining don't want to be assessed for a second one.

katezbox 09-07-2009 05:42 PM

I absolutely agree with you.

I think Ivy was being cautious.... if you search this forum many folks seem to not understand what they bought into and are surprised at "extra" costs.

Sorry if it cam off that I was implying that you didn't get this... I didn't mean it to at all.

I understand. I appreciate the thoughtfulness because it would be a heck of an expense to creep up on you.
