Any of us who are on Medicare and/or Social Security are participating in 2 socialist programs.

Not voluntarily. The money was forcefully taken from us. So, in essence, it is already ours. These programs were created, knowing that many Americans are lazy and need a nanny to guide them and direct them. So, because of the few, the many have to suffer it.

I disagree, yes we all contribute to Social Security and Medicare. At the time of retirement some of us will be means tested if you have an annual income above the acceptable limit you will receive less or no benefits.

Some of us will live a long time, some shorter and some never live long enough to collect benefits.

In point of fact it was created so that American workers would have some form of continuing income after retirement.

My former company had a defined benefit pension but few companies offer that now.

Social Security and Medicare will become even more important to American workers in the future.

Of course they are...and MANY make their money through generous welfare programs. Who do you think profits when 50 million Americans are receiving food stamps? That's $5 billion a month in money being given out to but food products. Kraft, Tyson...they make a killing off welfare money.

That's not true. You do NOT get less SS or Medicare based on income. You should not make such statements when you do not know the facts. The only limit to SS is if your contributions to SS were low or high, but you do not receive less SS or Medicare benefits due to being wealthy.

A couple who make more that $170,000 in a year you will be means tested and your premiums will rise.

A single person will be means tested at $85,000.

Wrong! That has nothing to do with SS. And you pay for Medicare A all your life so that you don't pay a dime for it when you retire. You are speaking of supplements such as Medicare B, C, D. which are ALL optional.

Your turn to weep and all you didn't even have to read and misinterpret.

SS is paid, based on how much you contributed. You do not get paid less for being wealthy. Medicare A is paid for by the time you retire, UNLESS you did not pay any taxes, such as an unemployed spouse.

By the way, you do NOT pay premiums for Medicare A.
