The Village of Fenney?
Hi all, question, does anyone know how far it is from Fenney to the federal state prison? I have heard that at night you can see the lights from the prison from Fenney. Is anyone afraid to buy a house in Fenney do to the prison being close?? We have looked at houses there and would like to live there but a little afraid of the prison....

Ask your agent! As for lights at night...take a drive and check it out. I wouldn't be too worried about living there...it's not any different than living here in the more established areas with the accessibility of "any" people who probably won't do you anymore harm than anywhere else. Just read the local papers and social media. We took the drive down there out of curiousity and found the place to be quite pretty. It definitely will improve in beauty with time!

Depends on what part of Fenney, probably 1 mile at the nearest point.

There are always things that can be out of the norm anywhere you buy, thieves, sex offenders, barking dogs, all night partiers and on and on. A lot of homes are being sold and occupied right now in Fenney. Don't believe everything you read on TOTV.....go find out for yourself. 99% of TV is just fine, including Fenney. |
The latest satellite photos on Google Map now show many of Fenney's streets. On the link, that's Fenney on the southside of 468 and Coleman is directly below (south) off of 501.

I would guess the odds of a prisoner escaping from a federal maximum security facility would be extremely high. And should a prisoner beat those odds and escape, he's not sticking around to taste the food and drink at the Fenney Grill. I would not give Coleman a second thought if you like the area.

LOL all great answers!! Thank you all so much!! I really love it in Fenney!! You all have made my mind up!! Thanks again!!

Believe me, you're safer living there than you are in living close to parts of Miami, Orlando, Ocala, Wildwood, Leesburg..........

I don't think there is anything to worry about. If, by remote chance, a prisoner did escape and make his or her way to Fenney, he or she wouldn't be able to get in because it is a gated community and that person wouldn't have a gate pass!!! :loco:

Spent our first night here yesterday and I didn't notice the lights. It is very peaceful here once the workers go home I wish it would stay this way but no chance the way they are building. Have zero concerns with the prison. This is a great area a lot different than the northern villages. Bad for some good for others. We like it

If you live in Fenny, and get arrested and serve your time at the nearby prison, your significant other won't have to travel far for a visit.

Most prison escapees try to get as far away as possible as rapidly as possible so living relatively close should be no problem. They may head up or down the turnpike or I-95 after a quick stop in LSL or SS for refreshments. lol
Now if it were Guantanamo i would feel otherwise... |

If coleman is that close, might be a good place to volunteer with the ministry.

I'm sorry but I cannot understand why you would knowingly move next-door to a federal prison. Those are not Boy Scouts in there. But Hey, to each their own. I'm sure location will be great for resale

I would be more concerned about living near power lines or a nuclear power plant then Coleman, in fact I wouldn't own a lot that bordered on fresh water in Florida. I have a thing about gators in my backyard. Both units at Coleman have been built since 1995 so they have state-of-the-art facilities for monitoring and with a lot fencing and guard towers.
Did you know that TV is within 45 miles of this? https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...ar_cropped.jpg I would live in Fenney before I would many parts of Orlando, or home of Disney World, Kissimmee. They have the distinction of being the worse city to live in Florida. https://media1.fdncms.com/orlando/im...1.14.58_am.png |
To each their own. Not for me. Power plant doesn't thrill me either but at least it's not behind the bushes in my backyard.

It seems hard to accept the hypocrisy of your and others posts bashing Fenney. I read nearly every day of the dregs of society doing all kinds of things in other villages.....and very little is said that "I sure would not live there" etc. As well it shouldn't be said. I really don't see what is accomplished by these naysayer posts regarding Fenney. |

Well, better the devil you know locked up than the devil you don't know living freely nearby!

Maybe they could just put up a sign by the prison that says Lifelong Learning College.

The bashing will continue by those with that personality. We live here in Fenney and would not choose to live in any other village. The Prison is not a concern, when did anyone ever escape from there and if there was an escape was anyone local harmed? For that matter how many prisoners escape per year from Federal Pens in this country and then do harm to innocent civilians???? From reading the **************, most of the crime around TV is up north or in areas surrounding the northern Villages. Everyone has concerns in life but this is not one of them as far as I'm concerned. It is extremely peaceful here especially after the workers leave and every day there is something newly built to see whether it is a home, part of a golf course or another amenity. Fenney will do just fine bashing or no bashing.

Not quite. While there is a serious max level, there are lesser levels as well. Including trustees who work outside their living area. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

Congratulations. I'm pleased you are happy in Fenney. And you are correct, the prison should not be a concern. You probably live in the safest area of central Florida. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

I've lived close to a prison before. No uprisings, no noise, no problems. Because of the prison, Fenney may be safer than where you live...think about it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |
