Once again the Democrats....

move to deny the right of the people to vote for their representatives.

RICHMOND, Mass. -- Gov. Deval Patrick said Friday that President Barack Obama had personally talked to him about changing the Senate succession law in Massachusetts, and White House aides were pushing for him to gain the power to temporarily replace the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy amid the administration's health care push.

They changed the law previously do deny a Republican from appointing a replacement for Kerry should he have won the white house.

It is on subjects like this, the Dems trying to change what they put in place

to accomplish their mission when Romney ran and now to undo it because it is, again, something they need. Isn't there something obviously wrong here? Isn't Obama's involvement sorta obvious self serving and shouldn't he at least make it look like he is able to rise above such lowly political flip flopping of the laws? It would not be so obvious if it were not the reversing of what they asked to be put in place previously.

This is an excellent one for some of his supporters to come back to us and let us know why they think it is OK for these Dems to keep changing the law to suit their specific political purpose.

Remember watch what he does not what he says!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This president is very unique...he has considerable political skills unlike what we have seen over the years.

He has the ability to make you think he agrees with your position and then do exactly the opposite !

He has mesmerized a large number of folks with his style of speech and his great oratory skills.

"He implies, he misdirects, he misleads" (Charles Krauthammer) and he does it with such deftness.

His goal has not changed since his youth. Just simply check out the background of many of his czars.....extreme far left......and he will disavow anyone who may hold him back (Rev Wright, Acorn, whomever).

I just wish folks would take off the blinders....read what he is doing quietly while making them swoon with words !

And the Republicans didn't do that in Texas? We both know that either side tries to get an advantage. Obama didn't start this Kennedy asked for it in a letter.

Guest 09-23-2009 04:30 PM

And Kennedy would be ......a Democrat!!!!!!!!!eh??

That as he approached his death bed went to bat to get this change made....so the people of Mass would be appropriately represented (excuse mebarf). Partisan politics to the end.....how very impressive...barf

I love it when a wrong is justified by pointing to another wrong!!!!

But if I don't point to the other wrong then no one here will acknowledge it. In Texas they even tried to track where the Democrats had fled through Homeland Security....

Both parties are partisan....so what else is new?

Bush bashing is right out of the Saul Alinsky playbook. Demonize the opposition. Nowhere is that better demonstrated in the treatment of Bush and Chaney.

I surely didn't bash Bush nor the administration. My comment was about one person and one person only. And was in response to someone else asking God to save us from Obama.

I beleive that Dick Cheney is a totally evil person.....end of story

Please show me where I bashed Bush in that post. I didn't demonize the opposition I made a comment about a single person.

I had never heard of nor studied Saul Alinsky until Bucco brought him up on this website during the election. Not seen the Saul Alisnky "playbook" although Bucco did post the rules for radicals again on this website.

Not a radical nor a socialist.

How does appointing a temporary to fill-in until the scheduled special election "deny the right of the people to vote for their representatives"?

Ok I did....4 years ago the legislature changed the replacement law from a Governor appointment to a special election. Now they changed it back to a Govenor appointment until the special election.

So in a few months everyone will get to vote...if the election hasn't been called off how, as your post 1st line states, are people being denied the right to vote.

Snakes

Yoda..I don't know why there is any surprise about the political manipulation !! Remember the snake story..A guy was walking down the road and he heard a voice yelling "help me". He looked down and saw a snake who pleaded with him to pick him up and take him across the road. The guy said no since the snake would bite him..The snake said no and promised he would not bite him so the guy picked him up. As soon as they got to the other side of the road the snake bit him. He was shocked and asked the snake why he bit him as he promised he wouldn't. The snake said, "but that is what snakes do."
Why is there any surprise that a politician would be manipulative, dishonest, lie, cheat, put himself above the people. That is what politicians do..Obama is no different..!!

Guest 09-26-2009 09:13 AM

I believe the point being missed is the Democrats

changed the law to prohibit the appointment of a temporary to maintain full representation by the Republicans....and the law was changed.....NOW, when the shoe is on the other foot...... when the Dem hypocites want to desprately preserve their representation (magic bulldozer 60), they want the law changed back so a temporary can be appointed and oh by the way....MAINTAIN THE MAGIC 60.

To the average American this smacks of changing the rules to suit ones purpose, not once but twice. To the politicians it is just a continuation of doing what ever they can get away with maintaining the party position, even if it means BENDING the rules. To the political supporters....they all seem to go along, blindly, with what ever deeds their party pursues.

The law change is blatant politics first.....to :cus: with rules and laws. It is what is wrong with our country today. If you can't win....cheat!!

Directions of Country

Anyone who is not scared with the direction of the country and the current administration must be burying their heads in the sand. I don't care if you are a democrat or republican the current direction is truly scary and it demonstrates what happens when you have no check and balances in the government.

Guest 09-27-2009 09:41 AM

This is really a pretty sad statement to the extremes the political parties will go to.
In 2004 this law was changed in MA before the election as Dems were concerned about a Repub governor selecting a Repub replacement senator should the Dems have won the election. But the Repub amendment to allow a temp appointed replacement pending an election was shot down in the legislature. Fast forward to 2009 and now it is ok to change the law, because it favors the Dems, to what was proposed 2004. Hypocrisy at its best.

But it was ok for the Repubs in Texas to alter the districts to their advantage and then, when the Dems got out off Austin rather than vote, the Repubs tried to illegally track them down.

Both sides try gain an advantage.....

While I'm assuming REH is talking about the period of time from 2000-2008 about the lapse in checks and balances, I find it offensive, or at least totally naive to say theat "Anyone ... is burying their head in the sand."

I thought this Board was now avoiding personal insults,,, and your comment is a personal judgement not based in fact.

At least we have an Attorney General now who is committed to obeying and upholding the laws of the land, not conveniently "forgetting" any attempt to circumvent the laws of the land at the bidding of his patron.

Why was no one scared after 1 yr. of Bush/Cheney, 9/11 occurred on their watch or lack of? Where are the WMDs and oil paying for the war? To quote the tea ******* "the government can't run any thing effectively," let's privatize the Pentagon they haven't won a war since WWII!
People are rightfully wary of the government after 8 years of being run by a bunch of incompetents/liars, if these guys were contractors they would have been fired after 1 month the job but that wouldn't have been patriotic. To paraphrase PT Barnum, "There's a sucker born every minute, less if you just wave a flag or claim God is on your side."

Actually 9/11 occurred on the Clinton watch. Bush was a pretty new President at the time. Clinton passed on OBL several times prior to that and pretty much decimated our counter intelligence agencies, much the same as BO is doing now.

Bush was the president for almost 9 months...

IT DID NOT OCCUR ON CLINTON'S WATCH

Bush was on vacation when he ignored a security briefing 5 weeks before the attack....
