Does anyone have Progressive Auto Insurance? Do you recommend them?

We have them and do not recommend them. We have been shopping around and have found another highly rated company for less money.

Could you share the name of that company?

We are also shopping around. Tried Progressive for house insurance, they will not write for our address, we are within 5 miles of reported sinkholes.

I would never use Progressive because I know enough about them to go elsewhere for coverage.

what are some of the reasons you wouldn't use them???

I had the same feeling when I signed up with them and was going to express that thought some time last week but ended up getting into a dueling match about net worth or some such foolishness with one of the elite of TV ON TOTV'S. I would change in a minute if the price is rite. I Sound like Monty Hall. Please tell us what you know Kemosabe. :highfive:

I have them covering a seasonal trailer in Ohio, two boats, and two cars, least expensive provider. About two years ago had some trailer roof damage due to a storm. They came right out the next day and covered a brand new roof, no hassil. So far I'm happy with the service and price.

I wish when people are responding they would give a reason for liking or dis-liking... not just I know enough not to use them???

We had them is PA years ago and then we received a better price from GEICO. We have had GEICO for years and only one claim that went very smooth. We never had a claim with Progressive so I can't make a comparison.

I have had had GEICO for 40 some years and they are great but their rates are exploding. Can get Progressive for $350. Less. To good to be true???. Same coverage. Don't know what to do.

Have had progressive for 8 years now, first in Ohio and now in Florida. Monthly cost has gone down almost every year. Paying around 75 a month for 1 car and 250 deductible.

My advise is contact an independent insurance agent. Show them your current GEICO policy and the offer from Progressive. Ask them for a quote from a third company. You will then know if it's "too good to be true."

By the way, having had "GEICO for 40 some years" is not relevant to making your decision.

Flo or The Gecko? I like them both. Life can be so hard. Truth is these type of individual and personal recommendations are based solely on someone's personal experience with maybe one incident. One never knows the actual circumstances that influence a person's likes or dislikes. Just read what they cover, how they do claims, and compare that to price. Insurance is a funny product. We buy it, and hope we never use it, and most of the time we don't.

Just switched from Traveler's to Progressive because it's saving me almost $300 a year. Policy has been in effect less than a month, so no issues to discuss. I do like the savings, however.

AAA. I always shop and can't find anyone to beat them. We have them covering everything but life.

Very long story short. Thirty or so years ago I had GEICO.
My car was parked on a parking lot-engine was off. Some lady in a huge car thought? she could squeeze by my car from which is was removing stuff and railroad tracks. Her mirror hit my opened door forcing it further out and she folded up my door. After getting her plate and paperwork. Listening to her screaming it was my fault. I happened to have a camera in the car-they were film days. I saw a repair guy on a ladder laughing at what she had done and I got his name and phone number for GEIKO. I had and still have a high deductible-far less costly. GEICO lost the pictures I had sent so I had to pay to get them reprinted,
GEIKO never contacted the witness I provided for them-I know because I called him. It took GEICO a year and a half to get me my deductable. I had the right to rent a car under my policy and the line from Geiko was. "We will see what we can allow." After all was done, reminder, I was legally parked and my engine was off. Geico doubled my rate, claiming not the accident but that I was in the wrong zip code or????????

IF ANY QUESTIONS AFTER MY POST-I AM NOT A GEIKO OR IS IT GEICO FAN. tHEY DO REGULARLY CONTACT ME TO TRY TO SELL ME INSURANCE. The old quote fool me once it is shame on you. Fool me twice it is shame on me.

HINT-we all, me included, think when you stay with a company for a long time, you are marked as a loyal customer and get a lower price. You need to shop your insurance every few years. When, you stay witha company for a long time, you do not get a lower price,
you are marked as a bit of a FOOL and they will try to charge you more.

For sinkhole insurance and for hurricane insurance, it will be difficult to get if it has lapsed. You will also find that they have a high deductible. You might want to contact VILLAGES INSURANCE. This place is an economic powerhouse. You might want to have THE VILLAGES backing you up.
