Lopez pool bar

What's going on with the oasis , grill at Lopez, ?

Bogie Shooter 08-20-2017 07:52 AM

In what regard? Open/closed, clean/dirty, cheap/expensive.....what?

59again 08-20-2017 09:52 AM

Is the pool bar under the management of the Legacy Restaurant?

If so then changes may be coming soon. We had a disappointing experience at Legacy recently and expressed our displeasure about it. Being members of their frequent diners club yesterday we received an email from someone representing the management group basically saying that they have heard the disappointment of "loyal patrons" and they would be reinstating old menus and happy hours.

Lottoguy 08-20-2017 10:46 AM

They use to have that burger special. Looks like they will bring that back again. I peeked in there last week and saw just two people in the entire pool area. Nobody eating or drinking in the bar area. Let's hope this works out for them.

Tawarmbrod 08-20-2017 10:54 AM

Terrible food, terrible prices, and the worse chairs you have ever sit in at a restaurant. Can't believe still in business

Chi-Town 08-20-2017 10:56 AM

The Lopez pool bar should be a huge draw. Hopefully, they will get it right.

The same management @ Hemmingways--and they're killing it too-they said they're got to revamp the menu their too

ALSO been told the owner had given control to a management company--this is what happens when you abdicate control--number crunching is all that matters and you lose customers

billmcnall 08-20-2017 12:37 PM

After golf we go as a group down to Glenview because of the prices and choices at the Lopez pool bar. We used to always stop there before the reopening.

drcar 08-20-2017 01:41 PM

Always stopped there before, then they revamped it, beer way over priced, food poor. Now we also stop at Glenview, hope they go back to to the prior service, we will go back

Hemmingway has bad chairs also, no arms and skinny

rubicon 08-20-2017 04:27 PM

 so funny! I had a friend once order a whole bowl of lemons and proceeded to make Villages lemonade.

Chatbrat 08-20-2017 05:57 PM

water is free $3.00 for the lemon

Bottom line;
If the original owners of the restaurants at Lopez and Hemmingway's have contracted out their operations to the detriment of the dining experience then the only response one can give is to not dine there until things change.

When we first came to TV in 2016, Hemmingway's was "The TV Fish Restaurant". Now, not even on my radar. Very sad and I hope the owners either take back control or sell to someone more serious about food.

Chatbrat 08-21-2017 05:28 PM

Hemmingways was our go to place on Sat-tried it 2 weeks ago , could not bring ourselves to eat anything on their menu--waiting for the promised new menu--none of the frequent patrons we know have been frequenting the place ,either--

rjn5656 08-22-2017 06:01 AM

Haven't bee back since the revamp.

Golf-Tinker 08-22-2017 06:51 AM

The NEW HemingWay's

New chef - he's great - new menu, new management. Give them another try.

Fanastic food, service at Lopez. Wonderful ambiance. The complainers will always be the first to shout things down and the last to compliment....very child like....and not reliable information...

Chatbrat 08-22-2017 08:02 AM

If a restaurant is good it gets good reviews--as of 2 weeks ago Hemmingways is a no go--we would go there once a week prior to going to NC in June, we we came back 2 weeks ago the menu is a totall loser and top shelf items are no longer covered during happy hour

Top shelf is under Happy Hour only at Happy Hour times.

Chatbrat 08-22-2017 11:30 AM

Bonny I have to disagree with you @ Hemingway, we were told the only so called top shelf that was covered was Stoli-- they might have changed their attitude--the top shelf drinkers have gone to other places

I was told last week that top shelf was on happy hour only during the regular happy hour which I believe is 4 - 6.
House brands happy hour all day.

Bogie Shooter 08-22-2017 03:00 PM

I'll put my money on Bonny's reply.

Chatbrat 08-22-2017 06:10 PM

We paid our $$ for Chopin and were told its not an happy hour beverage---it happened to us ( @ Hemmingways NOT Lopez)--we were comped by the bar staff and we left this is truth

I do know that they have changed it a couple of times.

stan the man 08-23-2017 08:00 AM

Most of my friends who drink top shelf liquor can afford to drink it, and do not go to happy hours because their drink of choice is Cheaper.

Bonny 08-23-2017 08:08 AM

Actually, it doesn't really matter anymore because Hemingways has been sold. They are closing Saturday evening and reopening 9/8. The family that owns Red Sauce, Johnny Rockets and Amerikanos are the new owners.

Aw Man 08-23-2017 09:04 AM

We've been to the main restaurant at Lopez 8 times in 3 years.
Wonderful ambiance? I agree.
Fantastic service? They're batting .500.
Fantastic food? Wish I could agree, but I can't.

raynan 08-23-2017 09:13 AM

That's really good news, Bonny. That family has done a great job turning around their other restaurants. Should be a big improvement.

yabbadu 08-23-2017 02:25 PM

What are the chances the new owners will want golfers to eat there????

I'm sure they'll love it. :icon_wink:

Chatbrat 08-24-2017 11:37 AM

Just called Lopez, Bonny os correct top shelf "there" is covered from 4-6, since we only eat @ the bar, chances of getting a seat are slim to none, because of the happy hour prices on the cheap stuff all day

Of course she's correct. Bonny KNOWS her restaurants!
