Akan People.

Akan people - Wikipedia

Wish people would learn more about the different groups of people in Africa like the Akan people rather than just lumping them all together. They seem quite different from one another. Like Native American tribes such as the Lakota, Apache, Cheyenne, Paiute, etc.

They are some very well known men and women who have their ancestry in the Akan people. Ashanti people - Wikipedia

List of Akan people - Wikipedia

I had some Lakota members or half-breeds in my U of MN Law School classes or running around in the halls as well as Paiutes at my high and middle schools in Reno, Nevada. Had a class in Native American history with many of them at Earl Wooster High School.

Your term 'half-breeds' is a derogatory term. I would think that an "educated" man like you would know better. An appropriate term would be 'mixed-race'.

Wow, seems like you've invited conversation on the term half breed [emoji15]

I suspect that is what they called themselves ??

Lots of Rap songs where the term 'N!ggers' is also used. So, what's your point?

DNA test them...they either have the Neanderthal or Denisovan DNA or not. Blacks have neither.

Blacks have different ancestors and are therefore a different species scientifically but not politically. Imagine the fate of the 10s of millions of poor blacks living in the inner cities the day the government admits they're an inferior species.

In all due respect for posters please enlighten me on exactly where we are going with this type of thread?

What purpose does it serve?

Racism was eliminated with the court cases such as Brown v Education and it was eliminated with legislation such as the 1964 Civil Rights Act, etc etc.

What we have now are radicals being lead /paid by shadowy figures wanting to create discord disharmony and anarchy for their self interests.

My God this nation elected a black guy for president not once but twice.

There is a lot of racism on this Political Forum. I am trying to counter it so people do not get the wrong impression of people here in the Villages.

And Obama was probably about 1/2 African. He is a mix of a lot of ethnic groups.

Consider the following:

"Only white people are capable of being racist, according to a workshop hosted at Ohio State University.

The workshop, titled “Interrupting Racism: Tips & Tools for White People,” is part of the university’s “Ally Week of Action,” according to The College Fix."

Again we have shadowy figures stoking this racism nonsense for personal gain.

You do not have to defend residents of The Villages. Every community has a few of these haters. Indeed they come in all colors and religions.

Why continue to give them a platform?

That's what is wrong with the media today its all tabloid. we spend more time and thought to celebrities marital problems or divas attacking one another than we do on news that materially affects our lives.

I have defended your posts on many occasions and many of those seemed "off the wall". However, there seems to be no rhyme or reason for your starting this weird thread - and then to call some "half breeds running around in the halls" is just too strange. Just think about how others will react before actually posting!

Sometimes, the best idea is to think about what you are about to post - and don't post it.

Yes, I did think about posting this.

I am referencing a half Jewish/Lakota friend of mine from back then. A prominent Judge now in St. Paul, Minnesota and a daughter of a very well known lawyer who defended the Indians who were at the Wounded Knee demonstration in 1973.
Wounded Knee incident - Wikipedia http://www2.mnhs.org/library/findaids/00229.xml

Why is it so strange to try to get people to learn about the different ethnic groups that make up people on a continent almost four times the size of the United States?

Don Baldwin and others are constantly talking about blacks and these blacks come from many different countries in Africa with many different ethnic histories. The Akan People are one of these very large groups.

Oprah Winfrey's DNA Results.

Oprah Winfrey’s Surprising DNA Test – Ancestry Blog

I was wondered what Oprah Winfrey had in her DNA and if this was from the Akan people but she seems to have ancestors in other parts of Africa.

What's the point of this? To get posters on here away from thinking about black and white and focus on the countries and/or groups of people various people-- including posters-- come from.

My DNA would probably be Irish, Scotch, English, Welsh, Spanish, Moor, German, Austrian, Prussian and maybe even some Akan people far back.

It cost a hundred bucks to have your dna analyzed. Sounds to me as if your thinking about it. I did it a few months ago. Not a life changing event for me but it could be for others. The fact is, people lie. DNA doesn’t.

This is from my various relatives extensive Genealogy research which they traced to relatives coming to America around the 1680s from Great Britain on my mother's side and 1880 from my father's side from Germany.

My younger brother married a Jamaican woman who is probably from the Akan people as far as her ancestry goes. Older brother married a Brazilian woman first and later a Virginian of German descent.

You're obsessed with the Akan people...here is their history:

"Oral traditions of the ruling Abrade (Aduana) Clan relate that they originated from ancient Ghana. They migrated from the north, they went through Egypt and settled in Nubia (Sudan). Around 500AD (5th century), due to the pressure exerted on Nubia by Axumite kingdom of Ethiopia, Nubia was shattered, and the Akan people moved west and established small trading kingdoms. These kingdoms grew, and around 750AD the Empire of Ghana was formed. The Empire lasted from 750AD to 1200AD and collapsed as a result of the introduction of Islam in the Western Sudan, and the zeal of the Muslims to impose their religion: their ancestors eventually left for Kong (i.e. present day Ivory Coast). From Kong they moved to Wam and then to Dormaa (both located in present-day Brong-Ahafo region). The movement from Kong was necessitated by the desire of the people to find suitable savannah conditions since they were not used to forest life. Around the 14th century, they moved from Dormaa South Eastwards to Twifo-Hemang, North West Cape Coast. This move was commercially motivated."

They're NOT "native" Africans IF they migrated from the north through Egypt.

Once again...the Muslims came in and wrecked everything.

These are NOT "Negros". They may be "black skinned" but I bet genetically they're not Negros. Or they ARE and their "oral history" is full of sh!t.

Akan Philosophy of the Person (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy)

This is interesting.

Curious? Does anyone think that the French are superior in DNA to the English because William the Conqueror's forces won the Battle of Hastings in 1066? That was the Norman Invasion of England. That battle could have gone either way.
