THAT NEW LAND PURCHASE UPDATE (Big Yellow Church)

Was at the "Where does your money go" talk last night at Savannah Center. It lasted about two hours, and was very informative.
During the presentation, the new land purchase of 20 acres and the old church building was discussed. They are looking to make this a very special recreation area. With the strong possibility of adding another Putt & Play like they have in the new Fenney location. The new pool will be much different then what most of the other recreation centers currently have. They figure it will take about 20 months before everything is in place.
The current building at this site use to be the former church and is in excellent condition. It will be turned into a recreation center. They said the building will probably only need minimal changes. The outside area is what they want to really concentrate on.

I really like this answer. But to answer your question, it is on HWY 42 at the north end of The Villages, between Buena Vista and US 301.

If this is the Church near Chatham Acres then this is an unbelievable plus for the people in the extreme existing northern end of The Villages. Must have found some additional space to build more homes up that way. The building is a whopper.

The "Big Yellow Church" is.........

First Baptist Church at the Villages (This is a link to the web site.)

This is the old church that sits behind the current and much larger 1st Baptist Church on 42. It was purchased for 2 million and is golf cart accessible from SE 79th Clearview Ave in Calumet Grove.

On Route 42, about 1/2 mile west of Mullberry Rec Ctr.

They are building small mini farm houses next to this planned upgrade. They are between 5 to 7 acres lots. It will be called Chatham Acres and they already have a sign up there. This will be great when it's finished!

If one follows this forum, you will recall there has been numerous threads about the new building and lack of recreational facilities on the north end of The Villages. I think this new rec center will address some of these issues and will be a great addition for all in this area.

I would imagine it might go to pay on the new church and fellowship hall (which they will loose) that they do for the needy.

Horray, finely some good news for us northerners where facilities are limited above el Camino Reno. Hopefully it will be the Rohan of the north! I think the only developer money is going on the pool rest last time I read about it was law suit money funding majority?????? But, please let correct any errors I may have said from previous information passed out.

I'm really surprised the developers don't snatch up the 40 acres beside Phillips villas for sale. They could put another 300 or more on that plot???

"Only the Shadow Knows?" You couldn't be more wrong.

The Church publishes an accounting of income and expenses, and the income from the sale of the building and property purchased by The Villages is included.

I would expect that some of the income would go to offset the expense of building the new church building, which did not just magically appear.

As a matter of interest, some of the benevolent efforts of this particular church include,

FBC Missions OutreachTeam

The team seeks to empower and equip our congregation to go, give, send and pray for outreach missions and ministries so that we can take the gospel to all people, locally, nationally, and internationally.

· The team develops, promotes, and/or coordinates missions trips and projects through various FBC ministries and outreach partnerships.

· The team encourages and fosters the organization and leadership of outreach programs to reach persons in The Villages and surrounding communities.

Carl, It will be difficult to add to your list of "good" that this Church (and other Churches in this area) do to impact the greater Village community. Suffice it to say that the list goes on and on.
