Signed on the dotted line!

Hi everyone! Things have been real crazy here since I got back from TV two weeks ago. I have almost an entire house of furniture to sell before I close on my home in TV on 10/30. I have movers coming to give me quotes on packing and moving me to TV a weeks or so after that. My plane ticket out to my new lifestyle is for 11/6. I meant to write sooner, but time has just slipped aways sooo quickly. I feel frazzled . . . what a undertaking!

I was able to meet many of you at RJ Gators, the night I flew in. We had such a good time. Then I saw you all again (PLUS many more) at Kathie's the next night to welcome Jeannie & Nonie (what a FAB bunch). Kathie - you are a G R E A T hostess and I am looking forward to many more invites! Dicky, sending a hello your way too . .

Ok - only a minute and then I gotta run - so this is the scoop. Bought a 3 BR villa (The Broadmoor) in the Village of Pennecamp! You know, the Village I said was so far W E S T <lol> !!! I am very excited & a little anxious. Feeling happy & a little anxious. Can't wait to get there. Did I happen to mention that I am a little anxious ??? It's such a big move for me. Outside of you guys, I don't know a living soul in TV . . when I get there, I won't have my computer for a while. I plan on getting a lap top, so I am not sure when I will be back on line. Heck, I have no idea who I should even contact about it, down there.
Say a little prayer for me -

Betty

Hi Kate - good to hear from you again! You asked about the Broadmoor being a new Villa model - yes it is and I am VERY excited about it! It's a 3 BR CYV, which has the same floor plan as the new Eagle (one of the Cabana Villas in the Kingfisher section of Pennecamp) and I positively
LOVE it. I think I may have bought the first one - not totally sure about that, but if not, then just one of the few that they presently have available. In the past, everytime I have bought a house, I always KNEW the minute I stepped inside that it was the one. I had searched for days and days on end. So many lovely villas but they just didn't reach out and grab me in that certain, special way. It was the 11th hour when I went inside this house and I knew it was meant for me! It's in the Jacaranda CYV's on Adair. It just had that knock out punch I was looking for! :boxing2: :boxing2: :boxing2:Lane. :MOJE_whot:

Hi Boop!

It IS good news isn't it! :2excited: I keep pinching myself to make sure this isn't a dream and that I am wide awake. It won't be too long and you'll be here too, I feel certain.

This too will pass and then the fun begins.

I will also be so glad to meet you. I can understand what an undertaking it must be to get rid of possessions that have accrued in a lifetime. We will be doing the same in a year or two when we move to TV full time.

I am so glad for you. You have made the right decision!

KathieI 10-19-2009 06:28 PM

Wow, Betty, that's where you've been. I've been so worried about you. So glad to hear you purchased near me, we'll have a ball for sure.

Don't worry about anything, we've just about got Jeannie Beannie settled in and we'll work with you when you get here.... You've got my number, so keep in touch. Good luck and any questions, just give us a holler... Okay?? .. So happy for you, good luck. Say hi to Eve!!

We'll await your return to Gators too..... xoxoxoxox Kath

Congratulations Betty!!! I'll be in town a little less than a month after you are settled in. Looking forward to meeting you. :beer3:

Your post caught my eye with your comment about owning in TV but not living there yet. Any thoughts that might help us decide on purchasing now or later? My wife and I need another full year and half to two years minimum before we can leave our present situation.

Hi,

l'm so glad you finally decided on a villa. We really love ours and you obviously have fallen in love with your new one. We have the Anna Marie - I don't know what difference there is between the one you have bought and ours as I have never seen this new model layout and have never been over to look at the new Pennecamp area yet. Luckily we didn't have the problem you have of selling your furniture as we still have our home in England but I'm sure once it is all over you will be so thrilled to have bought in The Villages.

We arrive back on the 9th November and then have all the usual jobs of sorting out the phone/internet connection/TV and having to buy our driving licence again. That's the trouble when we are snowbirds from the UK - our licence only lasts till the end of the stamp on our passport - just another way of making money from us but we're so happy to pay it just to be there!

So glad you found what you were looking for. Isn't it funny how you had so many questions but once you got there it really changed/or didn't matter.

It's true, I am very pleased with the Villa I bought. I am not familiar with the Anna Marie, so I will make it a point to look up the floor plan. Speaking of selling my furniture and moving to the Villages, once this is all over - I had something very odd happen to me today. The man who is to pack me, move me, drive my car to Florida along with my pets came today to start packing. He arrived with two other men, at 9:15 AM and started right in. At 10:15 AM, he said they were leaving to go for breakfast (which I thought was rather odd). He left and never came back. I am in a state of shock. Half of my good China is packed up, the contents of one closet and that's it. They left the wardrobe boxes and some other "dish pack" boxes right where they left them. In fact, when I looked around it was apparent that the man who was packing my china, was in the middle of wrapping a bowl and never even completed it. I just don't know what to think. . . I have called his cell phone twice and have not heard back from him. I thought they must had had an accident, but I am beginning to have my doubts. I can't imagine what happened. I am hoping I will hear from him tomorrow. If he doesn't return my calls, I will need to line someone else up and start this whole process over again. I am closing next Friday and this is really cutting things close. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I am at a loss for words & pretty upset at the moment.

Betty

Bettiboop 10-23-2009 09:22 AM

Wow, Betty...that is strange! I don't blame you for being upset. Unless he has a legitimate excuse I would say he's not the kind of person I would want handling my belongings and/or my pets. Doesn't sound very trustworthy to leave you hanging like that. Hope you can get it all sorted out in a timely manner.

Julie 10-24-2009 12:07 PM

Betty, that sounds outright scandalous. Have you checked to make sure you still have all of your belongings and that they didn't make off with anything? It is not normal for people whom you employ to leave after only one hour of service.

I see you posted your message two days ago. Where did you hear of this man? If you got his information through a referral then possibly you could contact that person. If you have not heard back from these people you need to call the police.

I do hope everything is OK. Please post an update.

Here's the scoop

Hi Julie - they came highly recommended. He contracts out for the large Moving Companies & he had just finished moving the VP of one of the Universities here in town. So many of my friends said they same as you did, but nothing was taken or removed. I checked . . .

I think he bid the job too low and wasn't able to tell me. Once he realized, they were out of here like the Pied Piper. Single file out the door - left the boxes behind! He finally had someone call me (after I left 3 messages on his cell phone) and claimed to have an emergency early in the morning. Well he was here at 9:15 AM and I wasn't aware of any emergency. At any rate, in my last message to him, I told him if he didn't want to speak with me in person, that I would be out for a little while and he could just leave me a message. That's when he had a woman call (I think it was his wife). I was told he would be tied up with the emergency for the next several days and he suggested I have someone else move me. I really believe he just cut his loses and took off. Not professional at all . . .this move is not going easy for me at all. Having some other problems with the closing date as well (from the buyer's lender) and I am really stressed.

I had someone out yestereday afternoon and will have an answer on Monday.
Keep your fingers crossed for me. If I made a lot of spelling or grammer mistakes, please forgive me. I am exhausted and still not done. Now that I have sat down, I won't be able to do anything else tonight.

Oh Betty it sounds as if you've been through heck and back. My only wish is that you were closer to me and I'd at least help you with your packing. Hopefully your next person will be more professional and come through.

Yes, lenders are incredibly fussy right now. They seem to have swung the pendulum completely to the other side of lending. One of these days, months, years they are going to have to bring it somewhere in the middle.

Your stress is understandable. Just remember to keep that visual of TV at the forefront and it should help to ease your worries. This time next year you'll be in your new home and your biggest stress will come from trying to find time on your calendar to fit all the fun activities into your schedule.

P.S. Your grammar looked fine to me. Let me qualify that with I'm definitely not an English major.
