WOW, fabulous ER experience
 

Awhile ago I remember someone posted that if you need to go to ER take the extra 20 minute ride up to the Ocala Health free standing ER in Summerfield. It is across from the Camping World complex. Whoever you are THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Needed ER yesterday evening(should have gone hours earlier but ......). Took about 20 minutes from Spanish Springs area. I was visibly suffering when went in, was triaged immediately and five minutes later was having IV port put in. There were others in waiting room, but took me immediately. Five minutes later I was having CT scan done then back to room. And I mean room. You are in a private room with walls, door, private bathroom, etc... Dr came in told me what they needed to do for me. Nurse got the IV bag ready, he told me what was in it, etc... reception person came in and got me all registered. When the nurse would say he’d be back in ten, that’s when he came back. Everyone was very communicative, explaining everything, etc...
Anyway had to have two IV bags. After that was discharged with all lab reports, CT report, Dr’s discharge report, prescription. Advised to see my doctor today or tomorrow which I am doing.
Ride home took only about 10 minutes, hit all lights and no traffic. They are open 24 hours always have at least one Dr present and plenty of other staff.
So do yourself a favor, drive the extra 20 minutes for excellent ER care.

Also, if it is determined that you need to go to Ocala and be admitted, the ambulance ride is free.

We also had a good experience at this location. Hubby had problems and was seen immediately, evaluated and tests run. We were released within 2 hours with copies of our tests and a husband with peace of mind. He was skeptical of my driving there, but I refused to take him to Village ER as we had long waits and no service previously.

What do you mean by "free?". No meter running? :) You can be sure your health plan will be billed.

Have personally had two very good experiences with this ER and am really impressed with all the staff, particularly the nurses. As it becomes better known the service might not be as fast but this place is an example of how an ER should be managed and operated. Starting with the receptionist and security personnel everyone knows the patients which come through the doors need help and are not there as an imposition on their personal time. It is interesting as you drive north about a mile before you get to this location the Villages Hospital has erected a large billboard extolling its virtues.

Any problem with insurance? Have heard that "ER" is more expensive than Urgent care.

Which road do you drive north on from The Villages? On 441? Or I - 75?

I wouldn't bet my lunch money on that. They bill you for 3 ibuprofen and a band-aid but not a 35 mile ambulance ride???? Ambulance rides are generally very expensive, even more than an Uber. [emoji16]. I'd love to see the final Medicare or 3rd party EOB. Nothing is free when it comes to medical care. Quite possibly there would be no "out of pocket" expense but FREE?

It is a free standing emergency room facility.

The processing and treatment and overall treatment of "people" at the Summerfield ER puts TVRH ER to shame on any measurement of satisfaction.

Given all the money and the backing and all the awards why is it TVRH CHOOSES to ignore their ER debacle?
I say chooses since there are very few and far between good reports over many years. Complemented by at least two personal, disastrous experiences.
The powers that be are most certainly aware....yet no actions taken to solve the problems.

My question is....if you go to that facility but need hospital care. How does that work? Do they accept The Villages Health Care...so do they refer you to the hospital of your choice? We live just north of 466a and that would be a bit of a hike as well to consider...but sounds like it might be worth it. Too bad there's not a couple more facilities like this one in our community to take up the slack. By the way...an ER is for just that emergency purposes. There are "some" folks that don't quite get that, but then this would be beating a dead horse as it's been discussed on social media ad nauseum.

We've used TVRH and it's ER. We've had excellent care but the ER could use A LOt of improvement.

We were there several weeks ago when my husband had chest pains. The care as exceptional. When my husband needed to be admitted I requested The Villages Hospital because I didn't want to drive back and forth to Ocala. I was told that they would try The Villages Hospital but normally they aren't very receptive to admissions from the Summerfield ER. My husband has United Health Care and there was no problem with it.

Thank you! I was concerned that they wouldn't be receptive to sending folks to TVRH.....I can see why TVRH wouldn't be as receptive as it isn't a part of the health system here (so to speak). Ocala is probably trying to have patients from this end of T.V. Wish the health system with T.V. would offer similiar options as this one. Maybe it is with that iniative that's in the future. They'd need MORE than ONE though (IMHO).

Central Florida Health, the company that runs TVH ad Leesburg hospitals, has already committed to building a stand-alone ER in the Brownwood area. The also have said that they are looking at building another hospital there too and have land committed for it.

They can build all of the hospitals they want but if they are poorly run, like TVRH, then it’s money down the drain.
