Daniel W. Drezner is professor of international politics at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, and a contributor to the Washington Post. And if you think you don't care what the world thinks, consider how you will feel when your dollar bill buys NOTHING.

China and Russia are beginning to ascend to world leadership with the withdrawal of Trump's "America First" stance and his deliberate insults to other countries. So they are fighting back by attacking the dollar. Since 1945, it has been well known that the U.S. world superpower status has been based on two pillars: the world’s most powerful military and the dollar as the world’s unchallenged reserve currency, which allows it to control the global economy.
