Let's use this thread to inform others of when they are back. That renovation is taking too long.

Yes, my 16 plus year old long haired reteriver has decided he's done with healthy dog food and figures I own him rotisserie chickens, chicken pieces, hamburger, and ham the rest of his life. He's right, I do for the years of faithful love and obedience. I sneak piece when he's not looking!:sigh:

Doggies are pretty smart. Our golden seemed to do better with a diet of people food...in proper propotions for a dog. As he got older, his ground turkey appealed less to him. Seems if I made it a sandwich, he’d eat it....BUT I had to had to feed it to him. The vet was no help....said, if that’s the way he’ll eat, feed him....he’s old. Honestly, I think Max felt he was a sultan....lolol.

Make a trip to one of the Costco locations once or twice a month. You can drive to the new one off I-4 close to the big Mall in about one hour. Sam's cannot even compare with Costco. We buy two or three chickens and bring them back and freeze them.

There's no such thing as a chicken worth driving an hour to get.

Maybe not. Or maybe.

But thank you for the reminder. Have to go to Orlando Airport on the 30th. Will go get some chicken too!

Our neighbor picked one of these up as a gift to us a few months back. I liked it but my parents were not all that pleased with it. They like the chicken from Publix more.

Can Most People Really Tell the Difference?

Just a thought, but if they didn't know where the chicken came from, would they really know the difference?

I akin this to store brand items when some say they aren't as good as brand names, but in some cases they are even better, or at least,
as good as the brand name.

They were probably Walmart brand chicken

I wouldn't drive an hour for a chicken either but.....there are so many other things Costco has that I much prefer to what Sam's offers. My vote goes to Costco. I surely wish we had a Costco here rather than Sam's.

I would imagine the person who goes to Costco for chicken also purchases other items too.

manaboutown 12-26-2017 07:50 PM

Might be interesting to have a "blind" rotisserie chicken tasting, like a wine tasting-one each from Sam's, Costco, Walmart and so on.

BobnBev 12-28-2017 06:37 PM

I was told today, 2 more weeks.

Different seasoning on sams compared to Costco. You can definitely tell the difference between those two

UpNorth 12-29-2017 03:26 PM

IMO, Sams is good, Costco's is better. But not worth the 2-hour round trip drive.

I take it you have never bought a COSTCO Rotisserie chicken. Addicting!

Allegiance 12-29-2017 05:26 PM

Was told sams would be moving chickens to the front of store.

Might save me from buying all those $300 chickens in the future.

EdFNJ 12-29-2017 06:43 PM

Oh No! Not another chicken joke! (remember Rowan & Martin's Laugh In? Goldie Hawn was HOT in those days!)

TimeForChange 12-31-2017 03:41 PM

Do you really think I would drive that far for just a chicken? I buy anywhere from $300 to $600 most every time I go to Costco Their inventory and employees are light years above Sam's.

Ron_Ski 12-31-2017 04:24 PM

I've been to Sams and I've been to Costco. As far as I'm concerned there simply isn't that much difference between them,
certainly not an hours drive difference and that's assuming no traffic or accidents.

Costco does not have self checkout while Sams does. Sams also has Scan 'n Go which is what I use.
You simply scan the items with your phone as you place them in your buggy. On your way out the door,
you hit the pay button and show to the attendant. No waiting in line, no unloading and reloading your buggy.

It's a no brainer for me, your mileage may vary.

I prefer Costco because of the superior wine selection and the many cuts of prime meat. The hour each way is worth it to me, but not everyone. Plus Millenia Mall and Capital Grille.

Ron_Ski 12-31-2017 04:39 PM

I found the meat a Costco to be fatty and gristly. I'll stick with Sams.

I found the prime meat at Costco as good as Wegmans prime. Found Sams meat not to be very flavorful.

Chi-Town 12-31-2017 04:57 PM

Not crazy about Sam's in general but their rotisserie chicken is the best around.

You said WEGMAN'S! Is there one within an hour or so from here? I REALLY miss that store. I didn't see one listed but I assume you are from up north.

Chuckw 01-01-2018 07:35 AM

I was in Sam's last night and was very pleased to see rotisserie chickens again available..... YEAH!

They also had signs posted saying that the Cafe would not open until Jan 5..... BOO! (Miss the hotdoge.... don't want the grilled ones they are making outside.)

JSR22 01-01-2018 07:45 AM

I am from NJ. I just checked Wegmans web site and they are opening 3 stores in NC. They are moving South.

Chicken is sold by the pound like many other items.

They have it to such a science that to a point a pound of feed produces a pound of chicken. Larger chickens need more food per pound of meat so they are more expensive to buy.

To the point-the rotisserie chickens from Wallmart are tiny and they are ?????? 4.99. The ones from Publix are roughly twice the size and they are ?????? 6.99.

The grocery stores are also planed and run as a science.
You go in to buy a chicken. Do you ever leave with just that chicken?

LianaB 01-01-2018 03:28 PM

Unhealthy chicken?

I wouldn’t eat a Costco chicken, not sure I trust Sams now either!

Read the link - doesn't sound all that bad after all. There are far worse things that people eat than a Costco or Sams Club chicken!

I'm sure most of us eat far worse foods and there isn't anything in the seasoning that will hurt you.

Pre-seasoned or seasoned at the selling site?
What's that got to do with unhealthy?
No difference in my mind.

manaboutown 01-12-2018 04:18 PM

According to the unmentionable online news 0n 1/4/18 there was a bit of a squabble over the rotisserie chicken at Sam's Club. :mmmm:
