Noise
I wish some of the restaurants would find a way to absorb some of the noise. It is impossible in some restaurants to have a conversation if there are more than 2 people. Need someone to go around and sell them some sound panels.

It seems to be a natural law that the one person who talks the loudest also talks the most and is always at a table adjacent to mine.

Some folks have nooo clue what an “inside” voice is!!! Manners people, manners!!! Not everyone wants to hear your conversation from 3 tables away!! Rude!!!

OP, just typical blah, blah, blah from someone wanting to throw shade at the wrong people for some inane reason. BTW, there is only one "l" in regaling. |
I think the issue is just the construction. There is no sound absorption in any of these restaurants.
|
I notice more customers leaving at the doorway if it is too noisy, including us. Usually it is the loud music picked by the young staff.

We have eliminated the Colony Mexican Grille because of the loud noise. Too many people in a small enclosed space. LaPalma on 441 is now our go-to Mexican restaurant.

Sorry, but the noise level in most restaurants isn't "just typical blah, blah, blah." You either just don't know it, are hard of hearing or just don't care. |
Most of the restaurants are constructed not to absorb sound. With high open ceilings and lots of hard surfaces, sounds just “bounce” around. Then it is a vicious cycle, it is loud in the restaurant, so everyone talks louder to be heard.

I find myself leaving more and more places because the noise level is too high. I went to Gators in Brownwood for a happy hour with 40 people crammed in the back. I could not carry on a conversation with people sitting next to me. So, I just got up and went home. If everyone did that, the loud places would shut down.

IMHO==the noisiest restaurant is Glenview
|
:mmmm:They purposely designed restaurants that way in order to absorb the Whine

Noise!
We had dinner at City Fire in Brownwood last Friday and the noise was deafening. The band was just setting up so it can't be blamed on them. The servers had a hard time taking orders without being right next to your face. Won't be going there again.

I am prone to migraines, crowd noises are the worse for me. Plus I one have one ear. I can't hear anything and usually put earplug in. I don't think it is few people just over all crowd noise level.
|
I have always believed that most restaurants want to be loud. That moves people thru faster. The manager will usually say that corporate wants it loud.
|
We avoid the country clubs for that reason - very loud. We have good luck at Carrabas and Bonefish - if sitting in a booth, even though there are many people, we can still talk. Our favorite from a noise point of view is Thai Ruby in Sumter Landing. Lots of soft, sound absorbing surfaces. A tranquil dining experience.

Try Turners’s in Leesburg. Quiet and pleasant.
|
I think Texas Roadhouse is the worse. And it's not really the customers fault, who are only trying to be heard above all the lousy piped in music and the servers screaming happy birthday.
