Question - what will I have to do to my Polaris Ranger XP1000 to allow me to use it there in the Villages
|
Not sure, but you must change the tires to approved tires to use on the golf course. You would be subject to a ticket if you go over 20 MPH on the streets. An officer would probably stop you to verify and prove the speed has been limited to 20. Last I heard the ticket was $600. Check with the sheriff. You would stand out and be stopped all the time, even if you limit the speed. You should be ok on the multi-modal paths. Check with the Villages. I would not recommend it. More trouble than it is worth.

Thanks for the post - trouble is I already own it - would be a big loss to trade down - thanks very much

I just read that they are 90 HP, you know a Yamaha Gas Cart is about 11 HP. You probably have better luck making it a street legal cart. However, what you have is an off-road vehicle, it's not made for street use or cart path use. Buy yourself a golf cart for the cart paths and keep the Polaris for the woods.

The other thing you better check is the width of your unit compared to a golf cart. I seem to remember that those ATV are wider than the standard golf cart and if it is, that will be a major problem and will really limited you on where you can take it within The Villages.
There are quite a few 2 way traffic routes where a wider than standard golf cart will be a MAJOR problem. Especially if you ever want to go over the bridge in Lake Sumter. That is a very narrow path and opposing carts just barely make it. Even on 1 way traffic routes where the path runs along side the road will be a problem if your unit is wider than a normal golf cart. A cart must be within the painted lane or it may be hit by a passing car. |

That is the answer. Your SXS is 66.5 inches wide. Specs: 2018 Polaris RANGER XP 1000 EPS - Sunset Red | Polaris RANGER A Yamaha cart is 47.2 width. width yamaha golf cart - Google Search That makes your unit more than 1.5 FT wider. Won't work. |

Have you spent any time visiting TV? In TV "approved" golf carts are used on golf courses and used as daily transportation vehicles (think car) to do normal daily tasks. Shopping, dinner, meeting friends somewhere, appointments etc. You need weather protection, it can rain several times a day in summer months. If you (and your spouse/passenger) plan on using it to attend a 'social' event you sure will need minimum protection from the elements regardless of what the weather condition are. Many residents drive their carts 45 minutes or more to get somewhere. So creature comforts are almost a necessity. "Approved" TV golf carts are designed, built and accessorized for on-road use as neighborhood vehicles. I am not aware of any public "utv off road trail" locations near TV. Your UTV may be worth a lot more $$ to someone in NH than here central FL, although their are many cattle ranches in Sumter County. Finally, we have yet to meet anyone that says they did not bring enough with them when they moved to TV. :) :) Don |

People do drive the strangest things around TV. Saw this for the first time at Brownwood yesterday. The dimensions for this vehicle are similar to that of a golf cart.

Replies 6 and 7 answered the question. There is no way you can take a vehicle that is 1.5 feet wider than a golf cart on the multi modals. Heat and AC aren't your problem. But most people here don't read the replies before posting... Post only board for many.

Is someone fishing?

OP, IMHO, sell your cart, if necessary, take a loss, since it will not be useable here, and resale here will probably be lower than where you and you will avoid the cost of transporting is south. I took a car with our furniture, it was an addition $1300 for the move.
Good luck, PS, I really agree with several comments above, as I am guessing that you are going to get pulled over multiple times per year. |

It'snot that you have to drive it under 20mph, the law states that to be considered a LSV, it can't be capable of going over 20mph.
In order to drive it on the streets, you would have to have it registered in which case it would have to have all of the safety equipment required on other vehicles. I don't know if it would be considered the same as a motorcycle or a car. If it is classified as a car it would need a windshield and wipers. It would not be allowed on the golf cart paths under any circumstances. |

Thanks for the up-front answer "tophcfa" it's tuff to say good bye to all the toys

You don't plan on playing golf, you just want a cool looking vehicle to tool around on the cart paths. There are a lot of customized golf carts in TV, you'll be limited to 19.9 mph unless you get a tag and go street legal, but there are a lot of options.
