Speed bumps
Why is that north of 466 we have a million speed bumps. South of 466 a few speed bumps. South of 466A zero speed bumps. I'm sick of them! Does anyone out there agree? I live in Santo Domingo...

Cart paths south of 466A are wider and, I believe, have better visibility.

Slowly being removed, we hope.

:confused:You got a mouse in your pocket? I don't hope for their removal.... I would really like more installed where needed. From Wikipedia: Speed bumps (or speed breakers) are the common name for a family of traffic calming devices that use vertical deflection to slow motor-vehicle traffic in order to improve safety conditions. Variations include the speed hump, speed cushion, and speed table.(Why are WE against safety?):gc: The use of vertical deflection devices is widespread around the world, and they are most commonly found to enforce a low speed limit, under 40 km/h (25 mph) or lower.(If people did the posted speed.... then they would not be needed.) Although speed bumps are effective in keeping vehicle speeds down, their use is sometimes controversial—as they can increase traffic noise, may damage vehicles if traversed at too great a speed,(No damage to you or cart if you slow down.) and slow emergency vehicles. Poorly-designed speed bumps that stand too tall or with too-sharp an angle (often found in private car parks[citation needed]) can be disruptive for drivers, and may be difficult to navigate for vehicles with low ground clearance, even at very low speeds. Many sports cars have this problem with such speed bumps. Speed bumps can also pose serious hazards to motorcyclists and bicyclists if they are not clearly visible, though in some cases a small cut across the bump allows those vehicles to traverse without impediment. |

Concerns about MMP's should be taken to a PWAC meeting. You will need to specifically identify the item(s) or condition(s) that you would like them to look at.

An additional reason to keep them, and install more, is that they serve as a nice reminder to the meaning of "STOP" to the those who don't seem to comprehend. I was rear-ended by one of those goofs at the exit end of a tunnel. Then, he made the (unwise) decision to yell at me for stopping. The short discussion that followed probably will have no effect, but at least he knows that not all of us appreciate the danger and rudness displayed so requently on our MMP. What is plain ignorant with a golf cart could more easily be fatal with larger motor vehicle operators not complying with "STOP" sign on the road.

The speed bump at the Havana tunnel is huge. Is is sized for a full-size vehicle not a golf cart. If District Seven Decides it needs to have a speed bump in this location it should be sized for golf carts, not cars It hurts my back too, and probably my cart no matter how slow I go. I stop at Stop Signs anyway. No one seems to stop at the Stop Sign at Stillwater and O'Dell Circle. Just stupidity. Speed bumps are not the answer.

If it keeps people from speeding, GREAT!

This discussion/disagreement has been ongoing for some time. I would be surprised if it were ever resolved to everyone’s satisfaction.
