Falcon Heavy...
...lift off delayed to 14.20 due to upper level wind shear
|
Update: 1:08 PM ET: Launch time is now 3:10 PM, because of "clock management."
Look about due West. Should be easier to see than recent launches. Big rocket. |
Update, 1:11 PM ET: Now we're at 3:15 PM. It's not looking good for a launch today. Window closes at 4:00 PM
|
Thanks for update. We plan on watching. Whenever it happens, we hope it goes well. However, Musk shrugs his shoulders and says 50-50 chance of it blowing up. Hope not.
|
Launch time is now 3:15 pm. Looking more and more like it will be scrubbed til tomorrow. Still could happen thou.
|
Update, 1:42 PM ET: After a full stop in the countdown, we're back with a 3:45 PM ET launch time.
Falcon, the size of a 20-story building, containing 27 engines and a cherry-red Tesla Roadster as its payload, is slated to lift off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It will be the maiden flight of Space X’s Falcon Heavy, the most powerful rocket to launch in 45 years, since NASA’s Saturn V, which last flew in 1973. |
Musk still remembers this day back in September 2015. Very strange.

East, West? According to my calculations it should be about 120 degrees South East. Can anyone confirm that.

Spectacular! We watched on both faceBook and the end of our driveway. Just watched two of three boosters return safely.
|
Watched it live on YouTube.. Just pure awesomeness!
|
Cool launch!
|
Musk nailed it, first try, WOW!:bigbow:
I like his sense of humor, did anyone notice the screen on the Tesla, is said "Don't Panic". With this sense of humor, I expect that we will see Marvin the Martian driving the Tesla around Mars....:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl: |
What a sight to see on an afternoon in The Villages. Truly is history in the making. US is number one again in space launch capabilities.
|
Hard to beleave what We just saw it was amazing but We cant find a way to stop People from dying from the flu.
|
Saw it.
|
SIMPLY AMAZING launch - then sticking 3 landings of the rockets back to earth - and such clear videos of the Tesla up there. Worthy of an OMG.
SpaceX is building an even larger system for larger launches, 5 rockets - it's called BFR Big Falcon Rocket. But with kid Rocket Scientists nowadays, the F is interchangeable. |
I couldn't believe how the boosters came back and landed so precisely. looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. it was great.
|
If one saw the animated version released last week...it was spectacular.
Now to watch it happen almost in perfection to the animation. The simo landings of the rocket boosters....absolutely amazing accomplishment. I felt almost the same pride today that I used to feel with every shuttle launch. Hooray for Spacex, Musk and the USA!!! |
I had my camera ready here in Springdale. This is what we Saw.... Too COOL!!!!

I thought the video feed was fantastic. The rockets returning on target is amazing.

Agree with all of you - it was a spectacular sight. Now my question - what is it doing once it's in space other than having a Tesla roadster for adornment? Just curious.

The many advances in technology that have come out of the space program since the 60’s are too numerous to start listing. Suffice it to say it’s the best taxpayers money this country has ever spent.
