Open House Agents at Fenny
 

Took a ride today to check out some of the open houses in Fenny and not one sales person said Hello, or thank you for coming, or do you have any questions to anyone that came in. They spent more time on their phones and unless you needed to ask a question they seemed annoyed that they had to stop what they were doing to respond. Really? Just very surprised as you would think they would be more welcoming to all that were there to view these homes and make a sale and they did this to everyone that was there.

If/when you go again ask for Andrew McMurtrie. He was our agent and very helpful!

Welcome to today's world - the cell phone is more important than a real live person one foot away from you.

Andrew McMurtrie was also our agent. We found him to be excellent at follow up and maintained contact with us periodically for two years before we finally moved here.

I doubt he would have ignored you.

I find that a little hard to believe. There is very limited service in Fenney and phone calls and text messages are difficult to make. You actually went to every open house today or maybe just a few?

OP, I am surprised because we go to open houses occasionally and always found the sales agents eager to answer questions, helpful and very attentive. It’s likely today that you ran into a couple of very busy sales agents and they didn’t give you the attention you deserved. Hopefully, your experience will be different next time you go to an open house.

We were at 5 open houses, and other people made the same comment as well when we were walking out with them.

We go to open houses as well and most are very nice and usually greet people has they walk in. We have been here for 7 yrs in TV and just saying the sales people at Fennny were not engaging with the people walking thru.

I know Fenny is far but I didn't think it was THAT far!

I have found the same. Agents have been eager to help.

They just received approval for a new cell tower. When I go to Fenney I have no cell service

Depends on your service. I have one bar on grey fox but none on most of red fox.

I remember all these “sky is falling” posts , about cell service, when the expansions south of 466 and then 466A, relax it will be fixed.

Not a sky is falling post. Just a statement I have sprint, not the most reliable service in TV, didn’t work well in pennacamp and still sketchy in Fernandia, but works great up north

Interesting. I've had Sprint for the past 3 years and have never had connection problems any where in the Villages. We live in Fernandina, often visit friends in the northern villages and Stonecrest, and we've been playing golf in Fenney recently.
We've never had a problem with phone and internet connections on our phones.

Could there be a problem with your phones? I'm no expert to troubleshoot such problems. All I can say is we have 2 older model iPhones and Sprint service and have never experienced the problems you describe.

They don't POUNCE. And I like that. They don't have to fall all over you to get sales. I have always thought that they are instructed not to be aggressive.

I like the attitude of "Laissez-faire". I very much dislike realtors that hound you.

Same with car dealers, gg, I just walked out on one that was much too aggressive.:spoken:

I am amazed at how many open houses for both new and pre-owned houses are conducted every day in The Villages. In all the places I have lived, The Villages far exceeds the level of access to viewing houses that are available for sale. I really don't think it is a valid complaint to expect the agents to do more than they already do. If you want information about a specific house, you can get that information. So, I consider this thread to be much ado about nothing.

We go to a lot of open houses in Fenney and have run into one or tow that were not really interested in us being there but for the most part they are very courteous and helpful. As far as cell service down here, most people have to go outside to use their phones, we have sprint and it works in most parts of our interior at 2 bars, outside we get 3. Contractors have a hard time calling their offices if they have the need. As far as a great Village agent. We used Beth Pope and would recommend her to anyone thinking of buying a new or used home in TV, very helpful and not the least bit pushy.

I agree, and just to add on to your post, those agents could have been busy trying to get answers to other potential buyer's questions who stopped by. We have been to many open houses over the years and even when we tell them we already have a sales agent, they are still very helpful in answering any questions we may have. Some are amazing at the extent they will go to try to help you. That's why I mentioned that they could be busy helping someone else not just on their phones for personal reasons.

We get new Samsung and IPhones, every year. In 2010 when we bought in pennacamp we had to walk outside to make a phone call for the first year. Since we have onstar and phone thru them we just used the car. When we bought in Fernandina in 2012, service was better but had dropped callers even service guys had problems, with sprint.

Red and Grey fox courses bars are very few but can get calls. I travel full time and Sprint is my best carrier for work, will switch to ATT when I have to pay for my own phone

It is rude to answer phone calls from someone who has not bothered to come in while someone there awaits!

I was most likely not very clear in my post that you all are referring to. I wasn't suggesting they were making random business calls. I was suggesting they may have been making a call to verify something for someone who was a potential buyer at the showing. It has happened to us and I didn't take offense. They were just trying to help a potential buyer get questions answered that they did not have the full facts on to answer appropriately. And as a matter of fact, by waiting patiently, we benefited too by finding out additional info that we did not know at the time. Otherwise, yes, I agree to be on the phone for any other reason other than having to do with the business at hand is rude.

Also, I don't deny that the OP is telling the truth, just suggesting a possibility of what may have been going on.

I agree too. To clarify once more, I was talking about someone who WAS there - a potential buyer wanting a question answered, not someone just randomly calling in.

Every person is different in what they want from a salesperson. Some want them to "sell" them, where I have a basic distrust of anyone trying to "sell" me anything. I like to do my own research and fact finding from people other than those who will benefit monetarily.

It is my opinion that the Real Estate industry can be cut throat. The Villages Sales Agents do not have to enlarge anything or misrepresent anything or push anything. They need to be available when needed because thousands of people want to live here already. I love how most of The Villages Sales agents are. We bought twice using Villages Sales agent Jim McLaughlin and he and his wife have become our personal friends. He is ethical and responsible and not pushy. I believe that is true of most Villages Sales Agents. I suspect that they are directed to be "Laissez-faire".

I want to look at the house by myself. If I have a question I ask. Don’t need the hand holding, I know the bond and taxes. After all there is a sheet with all the info, on the counter.

Other than that many go to open houses for decorating ideas. Not that a different house is In their future.

Our third house was a stop in an open house not looking to buy. Sales person was speaking to another couple. We called our guy, he made the offer. Done deal

I completely agree. They are there when you want them to be there.
