Movie Pass
Just was wondering if anyone out there has this “movie pass” thing and how they like it. If so, how do you sign up. Thanks
|
Have it, LOVE it, use it often. Sign up at their website moviepass dot com. Easy Peasy.

Agree. Just got it this month and used it twice. No problem. I'll be curious to see how long they can stay in business. Seems too good to be true, but I enjoy it.

I don't have it, but here are some other discussions.

Should be around for a long time, it's run by Netflix.

We got it....can't get the app to work. Getting error messages. Have our card and they have had our $$ for several weeks But have not responded to our email messages. No customer service number. The phone number on the back of their credit card goes to a recorded message. If I were you, I would install app first and then join using the app (if you can get it to work). It doesn't work on an old Android Droid Bionic phone.

You may need to create a new password. It is worth it. We see 3-5 movies a month and have friends who use it even more than we do. It’s a great deal!! The theaters love it. They are selling lots more concessions!! And that’s where their profits come from. I thought i Movie Pass will be around for a long time! |
Thank you for all your responses. I will try your suggestions. Off to the movies we go.....Hopefully! Thank you very much.

- absolutely...reinstall MP app, it's easy (at least on my LG/android) MP has a new app that is expanded and easy to use. - don't expect great/fast cust service from MP, they are inundated with new members. Seems as if they have improved their servers and processing, but systems can still be slow. - I always ask the TV theater ticket agents about MP. Total share of MP-obtained tics is about 50% of total. TV theaters get on average .19 of the revenue for first week of many movies...% increases as showings continue. Not certain of the details, but the concessions $ are all theirs of course. The theaters (and distributors etc) get full tic price from MP. - TV theaters charge full $9.00 to MP, even tho you show your TV ID card. They say TV has been approved by MP to charge full price (now sure if this jives, but...) - Been members for almost 4 months and have seen 34 movies at our 3 TV theaters and AMC Leesburg. Total cost $9/month + a $8 admin fee for the annual plan which was a special when we joined. Hmm...no math major, but that equates to about 30 FREE movies. Before MP we may have seen 2 or so of the 'hits'. BTW new MP policy - you can see a movie more than once - still only one 2D movie per day. - It's the deal of the century IMO - I pay it forward all the time to folks not in the know. |

We use it often. Even with recent changes still a good deal if you are an average movie goer.

I don't think that MoviePass is run by Netflix. see article in the link below. Netflix Interested in MoviePass? – Media Play News |
"MoviePass, a startup that lets customers watch a movie a day at theaters for just $10 a month, is limiting new customers to just four movies a month."
Can us old customers still see 1 a day? New Rule, I think. You can't see the same movie twice. |
Was forced to update MP app when going to theater today. Took a few minutes. Then a notice came up - can only see a particular movie ONCE. Fine - same policy as a couple months ago, before they switched that users can see a movie as often as you wish.
???? I'm OK with that - but policy switch <> back looks as if management is questionable. Hey let's face it - If we want to see a great movie again, get a ticket for one you haven't seen and starts about the same time. duh... But must have something to do with Studio push back or so. And I'm one of the users that needs to take a picture of my ticket before seeing another - supposedly to limit fraud or such. No problem here, takes a minute extra. If MP does go under, theaters will take a hit for a while, until and if big theater chains develop their own deals. MP accounts for well over 1/2 the tickets at The Villages theaters. And I for one would certainly NOT go as often as I do if not for the MP deal. period. And I was talking up MP many months ago - not anymore, in case Chapter 13 or such... You're on your own. |
I have had a Movie Pass for 4 or 5 months. I love it. Very easy to use. I used it today and the only change I have seen is following the purchase of the ticket they ask you to take a picture of it. From what I understand since the money goes on a Visa Card people were purchasing a ticket on the app but spending the money on products or food and not going to the movie, so now you have to take a picture and send it. No big deal...took seconds.

Note that they are changing their policies. First, you can no longer buy the pass to get up to one movie a day. New purchases are good for only four movies a month. Still a good deal though. At one point they were also offering an even cheaper price if you paid a year in advance but I don't think they are doing that any more. Also, they are now starting to add a step to the purchase process where you have to take a picture of the ticket. Kind of a bummer for my wife as the camera stopped working in her phone (you need to have a smart phone "paired" with a MoviePass for each user).
Is the deal too good to be true? Is the company destined to go under? Who knows? But I'm enjoying it as much and as often as I can until and if they fail. For example, I've been to see movies eight times in the last three weeks (which is unusually high even for a movie buff like me). |
Somenow I moved the Authorized Device to my iPad and I can’t move it back to my iPhone. Several emails to MP have gone unanswered. Post to the FAQ and still no response. I paid a year in advance so I am probably going to lose out when they go under.

I have read about moviepass, bought it and successfully bought a ticket when it worked flawlessly. But I still don't have a basic understanding how it works so I don't know if I'm being overcharged. Am I only paying $10/month. Is it safe to assume that if my moviepass did not work the ticketpereson would tell me it was rejected?
Basic question. I they hand me a movie ticket does that mean under all circumstances I am not being charged by anyone the cost of the movie? Follow up question. 2 or 3 times my smartphone said I need to take a photo of the ticket. Once it said something to the effect "you have successfully....." Twice I did not get that message. I did not get any message. I went to their support page and sent them these questions. But I heard they don't respond quickly. |

1. You are ONLY charged the monthly/annual amount you agreed to by MP - and can cancel at any time. 2. If MP is rejected - your MP debit card would not be charged up by MP for the ticket price. 3. The required stub photo - my phone completes it fine with the mssg - her phone typically not... no worries tho. 4. The MP Support - stinks, altho I never needed them - they are inundated with growth. Last time I asked at TV movie ticket booth - 60% of tickets are MP... |
I had to change my email address with MoviePass as I changed internet carriers. Couldn't find anyway to do it on the app or website. Went to FaceBook and posted the question "How do I change my password on MoviePass". I Immediately received a response from them to "private message them". They took care of it right away.

So if the ticket person hands me a ticket---then it worked even if I am prompted to take a photo and that goes wrong. I thought this was too good to be true so I paid for a year and went 12 days in a row before it collapsed. |
