Sarah Palin Book Signing

As much as I admire Sarah Palin, I found out that the purchase of her book at Barnes & Noble cost $20.00 vs $9.00 online at Amazon.com so I passed at the opportunity to get her B&N book signed. OK so I paid $3.99 shipping, still thats 30% less than B&N Thanks but No Thanks Barnes & Noble, I bought two and saved $14.00 plus the sales tax.

And you probably don't need a signed copy to understand the content!
We just drove by Barnes & Noble (about 6PM) and there are folks camped out in their lawn chairs already! Certainly there has to be something more entertaining in The Villages than spending the night in a lawn chair waiting for a 10 second opportunity to have Sara sign a book...that you pay a lot more for than you should!

agree agree. but you have to pay the higher price in person, she needs a cut of that pie. Ex-Gov's dont get a big pension espically if you quit office. Camp out in line and support her lifestyle.

She was here last night in Birmingham and only had 1,800 show up. But then again the media put our she would only sign 1000 copies.

I have never been to a book signing. What is the usual number of people that one could expect for say an author like Grisham?

1800 copies at 100% markup is paying somebody's expenses.

Barnes and Noble has an interesting pricing policy. I went to preorder the Beatles remastered boxed set in September. They wanted $260 plus tax for it. I told them that I could get it from Barnes & Noble on line for under $200, free shipping. I was informed that it was their policy to charge full retail in the store. Obviously, I bought it on line.
I am scratching my head to figure out who would interest me enough to camp out overnight in a parking lot to meet them. I’ll get back to you on that one.

Sara who????

A quitter????

A rejected Hocky Mom!!!

Guest 11-24-2009 08:52 AM

I didn't know that Sarah could write!

For some, it's just the idea of a "celebrity". For others, they may empathize with the perceived persecution of her.

Now, don't take this the wrong way, but there are women who have pen-pal and jailhouse romances with serial killers.

If *that* is true, how hard is it to imagine getting a little starstruck for someone who's worst attribute was quitting their job?

Only in TV! I could understand why hundreds camped out a few years ago at the opening of Chick-Fil-A, after all there was a free chicken sandwich in the offing. Why anyone of sound mind would do this for a Palin book signing is surely amazing.

It's an adventure. You meet fun people waiting in line ups. When you're retired with time on your hands, sometimes it is just fun to do something different. I didn't line up for Sarah because I'm too lazy to get up early! But if she drops by my house, I'll invite her in for a coffee. :mornincoffee:

This is written by someone who lined up for hours to play a kazoo at the Polo Fields to set a new world record.

Just once ther could be a Palin subject without....any subject...

that the disser/partisan snipes population feel obligated to take their shots.

But anyway, whether in TV or Barnes & Noble or or Palin or Beck or Obama or Oprah....sameo,,,,,sameo......high prices....limits.....etc.

Anybody who does not want to pay top dollar NEVER buys from a store like B&N. Go to Sames and save 50%....or on line.

Nothing new on this subject.

Sarah

Sarah you did it again. The Liberals fear you so much because you are a real American.

Talk about small-minded sniping!

Look, all of you, I agree that B&N is out to make a buck! Don't shop there! Just stop taking nasty, snide potshots at someone like Sarah Palin. At least she is not sitting on her butt in Congress trying to pass health care legsilation that no one wants, raising our taxes hand over fist and letting our soldiers die in Afghanistan because they just can't make up their minds what to do! Geez!

Admins...perhaps it's time to move this thread to the political forum before it gets out of hand and personal.

What started out as a discussion of buying online vs full retail has turned decidedly political.

82nd in hold line for 4 copies of Going Rogue.

This books looks like it is worth a peek at least. I tried putting a hold on it at the Lake County Public Library and I am 82nd in line for 4 copies that the whole county library system has. Sarah Palin must not be as popular as I thought she was in Lake County?

Does she say anything about the Villages in her new book?

For her sake, I hope she writes better than she speaks.

Guest 11-24-2009 11:10 AM

I believe that Pailn's new book has a co-writer?
