Dentist

Can you recommend a good old fashioned dentist in the Villages? I have gone to several dentists here and is appears they are all interested in selling me a "plan" to treat my teeth. I have always taken care of my teeth and only need someone to "check" them every 6 months. I don't need a "plan". Any suggestions will be appreciated.

We have been using Dr. Kim (Bright Smile Dentistry) 734 South US 441 in Lady Lakes for the past six years. Great Dentist. (352) 728-1100.
He used to be in Leesburg. Just built a new office in Lady Lakes.

What ever you do stay away from Village Dental--lots of up -charges-without telling the cost until you check out at the desk, also charged for re-cementing crowns that they installed

We see Dr. Reem Jaber at Palm Ridge Dental, 11938 CR 101, Suite 130, 352-392-9930. She operates in the manner that you described you want.

My teeth have always been a problem for me... I think almost every tooth had a filling had a filling in it.

Since we moved to The Villages I go to Village Dental and my teeth are now in the best shape they have been in in 30-40 years.

When I first went I had a lot of work done ( 6 crowns) but I was told what the cost would be after the exam and that was what the cost ended up being. Since then no more little aches in my teeth sending me back for a new filling or repair every 6 or 8 months or so.

BTW I had gone on for decades ignoring the hints, i.e. aches, my teeth had been giving me and just had fillings done. My previous dentist back up north never pushed anything on me (or my wife). With 20-20 hindsight I wish he had pushed a little harder or I had asked for more.

As far as comparing costs I don't have a way to compare them to prices around here but the cost of a crown about the same as about the same as it was back in MA before we moved to The Villages.

Dr. Chris Lunsford in Leesburg.

Two of us see Dr. Jabar and I see her partner Dr. Kathleen Williams. VERY good dentists, both educated at University of Florida in Gainesville. Smart, kind, gentle.

Upselling is done by many medical establishments.

That does not bother me because I have an understanding with my dentist (at The Villages Dental) that my only interest is in maintaining function and any threat to it or maintenance thereof.

As a result I get my teeth cleaned and a full exam once per year (vs their recommended every 6 months).

It is too easy to stop the upselling to complain about it.

As far as something different being charged at the desk.
In 15 years I have never experienced the front desk presenting anything different than in the chair.

One has to manage all things medical to one's personal wants. It is easy!

The Village Dental folks do an excellent job at similar costs to other COMPARABLE dental offices.

To each his own.

I spent 30K with them-had every tooth capped-was little ****ed at the up-charge-and then charging me to recement after $30K

dnobles 03-23-2018 12:09 PM

I got roped into one of those $59.00 specials Wanted me to have all this stuff done. I’m going back to Dr. Forest Jerkins Fruitland Park

We use Baylee Dental, Baylee Plaza, just south of 42 on 441 South. Both myself and my wife are very pleased. No sales pressure, just what you actually need.

I agree. Charges way to high compared to others

Another vote for Dr. Reem Jabar. She is kind and gentle and listens to you closely. I have been seeing her for 7 years now.

Dr. Jerkins of Fruitland Park. He leaves his home phone number on answering machine for emergencies. He is also married to last year's "Florida Teacher of the Year."

Palm Ridge Dentistry

Just spent some time this morning with Dr. Kathleen Williams at Palm Ridge Dentists.

She is skilled and compassionate, very smart and equally as kind. Husband and daughter see her associate Dr. Reem Jabar who they praise highly. The best dentists we have used in our lives.

Here's another vote for Dr. Jerkins in Fruitland Park. He's a nice and honest man. I won't get into specifics but I realized I was being taken for an expensive and unnecessary ride by a dentist in the Colony area. I ended up at Dr. Jerkins and after xrays he told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with any of my teeth and that he was 90% sure my teeth were hurting because of a sinus infection. He gave me antibiotics which cleared up all pain.

East Hamlet Dental in Spanish Springs is quiet, convenient and has great staff that will take good care of you.

I been to two recommended villages dentists, first one was ok till they charged me close to 300 dollars for mouth wash, course my insurance wasn't going to pay that. The second was worse, right off wanted to do the deep cleaning of my billfold, dumped them and now happy patient of Dr. Jerkins even though I pass 20 plus dentist getting down to Fruitland park.

Another vote for East Hamlet Dental.
Hubby and I been going there since January.
Nice place, reasonable prices, and not pushy.
They let you know what they feels needs to be done. it's up to you to decide .
