It was actually two half-hour shows. Very entertaining no matter which poison a person had picked. There are bits and pieces on YouTube.

Gpsma 03-29-2018 06:06 PM

Domt watch it on a full stomach

I had passed it over thinking it was old hat but apparently it was watched by 18 million people. Beats the heck out of Jimmy Fallon's numbers.

Thank-you That's what I love about TOTV. I could have been looking for that information till the cows came home and all I had to do was ask.

If you have xfinity it is on demand.

As long as her show doesn't have her intentionally butchering our national anthem, grabbing her crotch and spitting (as she did at the Padres game 25+ years ago)...it might be worth watching.

Travel Addict 03-29-2018 09:22 PM

Just finished watching the entire Original 9 Seasons this week on Amazon Prime. Just as funny as when it originally aired. Was a great lead in to the new premiere. We enjoyed it.

Will and Grace's revival was political on the first segment too.

Will and Grace had ten million viewers on first revival show and Roseanne had 18 million on first revival show.

Do you think a foreign country was involved in those ratings?

collie1228 03-30-2018 07:45 AM

I don't watch network TV; haven't seen a network show (other than sports) in a long time, but tuned in to Rosanne see what the fuss was about. I thought it was funny, well acted and not overly political at all. The banter between conservative Rosanne and her progressive sister was very well done. I'll watch again.

We watched the first episode of Will and Grace. We like political humor, unless it gets nasty.

We don’t watch Will and Grace anymore, but will watch Roseanne.

First show (Roseanne) dealt with a lot of controversies, with dignity and tact.

My favorite line was, liar, liar, pantsuit on fire.

tomwed 04-01-2018 07:01 PM

As suggested I am watching the second show now. Everyone aged pretty well. I did not find it laugh out loud funny before and in that respect it seems the same. There will be a lot more news time talk about this show and Roseanne Barr in particular.

We didn't like the show the first time.

The only show I enjoyed that had political over tones was Archie Bunker. We aren't allowed to laugh about stuff like that anymore.

Bulloney.

People can "laugh" at anything...they so choose.

So if someone finds racism, bigotry, misogyny or xenophobia funny...they can guffaw away.

And stating the obvious, Archie's character was developed to bring to light all of the views...that decent people abhor.

You have laughed at things that are plainly hurtful to others. They aren't funny McGee. It isn't funny to find humor at older peoples eventual lot in life; needing care to go to the bathroom, be turned in bed.

Archie Bunker made people laugh but also taught them to see things through some clever situational sarcasm. He was clearly the most extreme case of ignorance to be found, and we all knew someone like him. That is why it was funny. We knew better.

why was archie bunker funny - Bing video

Discussions/comparisons between Archie and Rosanne are quite apropos, considering the themes involved.

I think the tweets in the last few days are the straw that broke the camel's back. She has always been very vocal in her disdain for blacks and Jews, she is also a big conspiracy theorist and also was a "birther" advocate. She would be better off working her Roseanne Barr's Macadamia Farm in Hawaii.

I used to watch Archie Bunker and thought it was very funny. To me, Rosanne has always been very coarse and over the top and just not my type of entertainment, although I love John Goodman.

BTW, I rephrased my post. :ho:

I disagree with what she Tweeted. Then again I would have no idea about it if it wasn't posted here and all over the internet since I don't do Twitter.

I don't much care what any of the Hollywood types have to say..

and here I totally agree with you. Had no idea of this new round of tweets and would never have known had it not become BREAKING NEWS on TV this afternoon. It's raining and it's miserable and I'm on my computer and it is posted here ................... se la vie.

Rosanne worked had to receive exactly what she got from her employer. Previously, her disrespect to our National Anthem at a Padres game many years ago (Screeching and crotch grabbing) represent real disrespect . How can anyone praise her and thereafter denigrate those who in quiet respect "take a knee" ?

This thought crossed my mind also.

i keep talking, or trying to, about Truth....sort of a lost thing now days, and getting worse as lying becomes validated.

I can only recall those who were supporting burning and buryng flags to demonstrate.

I edited this to remove a phrase not totally accurate.

tomwed 05-29-2018 05:29 PM

Fox just figured out Rosanne is a loose cannon. It makes me wonder.

Some other shows need to be canceled, especially SNL and The View.

This country needs to awaken and quickly to the fact that there is a HUGE difference between political humor and the stoking of hate and discord on a daily basis either by, or endorsed by our leaders.

"We need to summon the spirit of the Greatest Generation and overcome our partisan enmity. Otherwise we will fall to the most insidious enemy we have ever faced: domestic division."

SNL is humor.

The View is not.

Big difference. Political humor has been a staple of American humor for years. I recall Mort Sahl when I was young.

Point is, each and EVERY SINGLE PRESIDENT and administration has been lampooned in one way or another.

Some are more sensitive to it than others, but most simply understand it.

We better not be saying that political humor is wrong.....that would be just another step in a seriously wrong direction.
