Quality Handymen
Finalizing our move to TV on January 1st. And with a new house, I have several odd tasks that I would like to engage a quality handyman to undertake. Examples are installing another electrical outlet in the garage (where I need it), installing a dual curtain rod in the guest bath, ceiling fan in the kitchen, etc. Anyone have solid recommendations to offer? thanks, ed

Contact Handie on this forum. He does a lot of that type stuff and is reliable.

I have used Lenhart Electric for several jobs and am very happy with their service.

If you are looking for an all-around handyman, I've got to say something about how great Handi aka John is. He has helped me out twice in the past couple of weeks. First I got a call from people who are renting our place that they had no heat (not good considering this cold snap.) Handi found that the thermostat just needed a battery so he replaced it. Then last night I got a call that they had no hot water. Bright and early this morning Handi went over to see what was what -- I expected to be told I either needed a plumber or an electrician. But, he found a tripped something or other. He untripped it and voila! Hot water again flows.

Could Handie fix a broken piece of PVC that goes into the sprinkler box, or maybe out of? This morning water was spraying out of a piee of plastic (pvc) pipe just before it went into the box in the ground.

Here's my vote for Handie. There isn't a room in my house where he hasn't fixed something or added something or improved on something. He's worked on my ceiling fans, plumbing, electrical including hooking up all those wretched wires for the computer and big screen TVs/DVDs/Stereos, adding shelving in the garage, and on and on and on..............

To hang paintings
Yes, there's a man who calls himself "The Village Hangman" who is very good and very professional. Roger Dudis, phone 352-430-3244.

I highly recommend Bernie Coluccio of B&B III Home Services, LLC. He installed our attic stairs and flooring, he did a great job. He showed up for the job on schedule and the work was completed in the time he said it would take including cleanup. If you look at the advertisers on the left side of the page you will see his ad. :BigApplause: |
Bernie gets my vote. On our new home which we moved into last Saturday he came to hang lamps and curtain rods. He also installed wireless keypad for Garage Door, sprinkler donuts about 50, lowered our chandeliers and had everything he needed with him and more. He will be back to our home. He showed up early with his son and disd a great job at a very fair price, thanks to those who recommended him to us on TOTV.

Handyman
I have read that "Handie" seems to be the most recommended handyman. Can someone tell me how to contact him. I have several projects needed to be done. ALSO....I need a good electrician...last night we had a total house outage and are not sure if it was due to a bad golf cart charger or what! Any help you can give is appreciated!! Thank you.

We hired Handie to replace 3 appliances with new ones and replace a light fixture in the bathroom. We were told it would be 2 1/2 to 3 hours. It actually took 6 hours and he didn't even change the light fixture in the bathroom. He told us he would come back during our stay there which was 3 more days, and take care of the light fixture, but never called.
During the installation there were numerous problems. First my husband had to help him with the micro and the stove. It took over 2 hours for the dishwasher and he had to take it out 3 times, once he left a wrench there, once he forgot to connect the electric, once for the water connection. During this time water was dripping on the floor and my husband had to mop and dry up the water for him. When he took out the dishwasher the last time he broke off the side panel of the cabinet next to it and reglued it back on, with no apology. We were very accommodating and didn't complain, even had him sit down to rest and have a snack with us. He is very quiet and seems to be a very nice man, but if anybody hires him make sure it isn't a difficult task. Maybe to hang pictures, etc. And whatever you do don't pay him until the job is complete. |
We also had some very negative and expensive experiences with some of the local handymen recommended on TOTV.
But I can highly recommend Bernie of B&B III. He installed attic stairs and flooring and also a garage keypad for us. He showed up when he said he would did an excellent job and cleaned up the mess. It cost less for him to install the keypad that he provided then it did to buy one and install it ourselves. When we need work done on our house that we can't or don't want to do ourselves we will call Bernie and his son. They also advertise on this site, look at the ads on the side of the page. Bernie can be reached at. 352-561-4449 or 518-461-1805 |

We hired Handie to install three appliances and a light fixture. He said it would take 3 hours, instead it took 6 hours and he still didn't install the light fixture. He said he would call back and take care of it that weekend but we never heard from him. During the 6 hours we had several problems. It took over 2 hours to install the dishwasher, he had to take it out 3 times, each time because he forgot to do something (like install the power cord) and then he forgot to plug it in, and once left tools underneath. In the process of taking it out he ripped the left side panel off the cabinet and glued it back on, never apoligizing. While he installed the dishwasher water was leaking on the floor and my husband had to clean it up. When he was putting up the dishwasher and microwave he had to read the instructions. We were very accomodating and never complained, and invited him to sit down with us for a snack, which he did. We were going to have him install a water softener system and purified drinking water system in the kitchen. I don't think so. Be aware if he comes and doesn't finish and wants to come back later. If he insists don't pay him the full price. We paid him in full. Harvey & Lavelle
