Who is your favorite band that plays the squares

Who is your favorite band that is or has played the town squares ? One that came to mind for me was Paul Vesco Party Band. Another one was Shepard's Pie. Anyone know the trivia behind Shepard's Pie ?

Okay Rusty, you stole my idea but I'll play along. Haha. I can't remember the band's name but we saw them once last summer, they were a Jimmy Buffett cover band. I'm not even that big a Buffett fan, but I really enjoyed the show. My second favorite is Hayfire. If Hayfire still has the same young female singer they had last time I saw them. Wow could she sing a tune!

Now breaking out my popcorn as well.

It was your idea but I can't stop laughing in my beer and it's only 2:15. Must be 5 o'clock somewhere.

I’m gonna do bands instead of band...

Uncle Bob’s Rock Shop
The Hooligans
American Martian
Blue Stone Circle

MrPelota 04-04-2018 03:05 PM

Uncle Bob’s Rock Shop and Rocky and the Rollers never disappoint.

Rocky and the Rollers

Not a big fan of solos / duos / groups that use tracks. Prefer 'Live' music.

I think the band you are referring to are the Caribbean Chillers. I heard them for the first time on March 23 at Spanish Springs. I am not really a Jimmy Buffet fan but I did enjoy this band.

The one and only ......... " Valerie Gillespie " ...amazing group. The Sax that she plays is almost as big as her. Very talented group.

kcrazorbackfan 04-04-2018 07:43 PM

Blue Stone Circle.

EPutnam1863 04-04-2018 08:27 PM

I am too deaf to have the luxury to enjoy any of them. So enjoy them as much and as long as you can.

EdFNJ 04-04-2018 09:22 PM

Blue Stone Circle (Especially when "curves" dances to Fireball about 15-25 minutes before 9PM). Disclaimer: The band calls her "curves" on their Facebook page so it isn't a sexist remark!!! :D

Sounds right. I remember, from a distance, the singer even struck a remarkable resemblance to JB. Probably not by accident.

Mleeja 04-08-2018 07:27 PM

Uncle Bob
Caribbean Chillers
Johnny Wild
Cactus Jack
Suzi Casta
A new band I enjoyed and would like to see again is the 501 Blues Band.

Shepard's Pie had Dunning Shaw as their lead singer. He quit and they became Uncle Bob's Rock Shop. Mac and Dan Sanders are two brothers in the band. Mac is also a guitar luthier.

Guitarman1951 04-09-2018 07:29 AM

Favorite bands in the Square

Uncle Bob's Rock Shop
Caribbean Chillers
Clark Barrios Band
Rocky and the Rollers
A band that doesn't play anymore from Webster, Dan something, they were great.

As a musician who has played in bands and does mostly solo's, I understand what it takes to perform. Bands require a special connection between members as well as talent. Keeping a band together for the long haul is tough and very special.

:clap2:
Very good. I believe they transformed form Shepherd's Pie to Uncle Bob's Rock Shop late in 2011.

coffeebean 04-09-2018 08:14 AM

Johnny Wild and the Delights is currently my and hubby's favorite band. Rocky and the Rollers used to have the top spot but they have fallen.....better word is plummeted......well below Johnny Wild. I don't know what has happened to Rocky's singers but they sound absolutely awful.

Was a couple of Uncle Bob's members also part of Norman Lee and the Boondock Saints ? I think they also do the sound booth mix still today.

Here is two more that popped into my pea brain
- Herb Gross and the Invictas (pre Rocky and the Rollers?)
- Johnny Cool and the Mobster Swing Bnd (another Paul Vesco band?)

gbrown95 04-09-2018 08:59 AM

Second Slice plays a great blend of current and past hits especially well especially if you're dancers.

Tall4mom 04-09-2018 09:02 AM

My favorite band is Buzzkats

Villager-Wannabe 04-09-2018 09:04 AM

The following bands are my favorites. They always draw good size crowds and they tend to fill the dance area with enthusiastic dancers. On a side note, I would like to see a really good DJ play some EDM (Electronic Dance Music) just for a change. I'm sure the dancers would be lovin it.

Blue Stone Circle
Uncle Bobs Rock Shop
Rocky and the Rollers
Johnny Wild and the Delights
Cactus Jack and the Cadillacs
501 Blues Band
Second Slice
(American Martian without all the banter)

yesi3putt2 04-09-2018 09:11 AM

My favs are Johnny Wild and also Steel Horse Band

rustyp 04-09-2018 09:18 AM

Another recent from the past Garrett Miles. Often played The Squares, Church on the Square, and on American Idol.
