Property Management Legal Action
 

Has one any had a bad experience with The VIR Group property management company? If so, did you take legal action against them? What attorney did you use? We have not received any of our 2018 rent proceeds and they don’t return calls or emails. We bought our home as a rental property until we can come down full time and are struggling financially without our rent monies. Any advise would be appreciated.

There were past threads on this firm, with as i recall many complaints. Try a search 'VIR' you should get the threads and possibly some answers.

Florida State Attorney is handling VIR

Do you suggest I file my complaint with the Attorney General?

Yes good luck I wish you the best My friends are not sure of the name of the attorney that is handling it at the Florida State Attorney’s Office. He messenger me nasty note and said he was going to sue me for saying he owed people money, but it’s true he does. He sent me the list of the people.

Have you cut ties with them and started your own marketing so you can capture what remains of the 2018 rental season?

Not yet as it is occupied by tenant right now and I am in Michigan. I have a call with an attorney tomorrow.

When it comes time and if you DIY there is some help available here. I have helped out a few, I know that others have as well. Overall most guests are decent people and are reasonable to deal with. The few that aren't are the first ones I remember though. One thing is certain, I know exactly how much the rent is and if I received payment. No one works as hard as you do on your own property and I believe with a good home watch you can exceed beyond your expectations.

I would be willing to do it on my own. Have no idea where to start though. I will search this forum. Thanks!

I have submitted a claim to the attorney general. Obviously I’m owed money from Vir and they also damaged my home. There is a class action law suit in progress against them.

VIR threatened to sue me because I posted that they owe my friends money. They said they didn’t owe anyone money, but them he sent me a list of people that are suing him. He was trying to get me to give him my friends name. If anyone’s lawyer wants that information let me know.

Please send your notice to quit, by registered mail, to Alistair Barrett-Powell’s lawyer, Todd Allen of Naples Florida. The Vir Group have been evicted from their Fruitland Park office and his own home he was renting! There’s a class action lawsuit with the Florida’s Attorney General Mike Villa. You can call email or write to him and join the suit! You’re not alone in this, and there’s many of us that will help you through this! But I’d suggest you change the locks on your rental ASAP.

You are not the only victim. It's very easy to rent on your own. I rented 2018 Snowbird season easily and booked 2019 already. I'm happy to help with any info on how to rent on your own. I have a great home watch guy (friend of 15 plus years). He lives in Pine Ridge and is also from MI. We use villagershomes4rent to advertise our home.

If you know your neighbors contact them to keep an eye on your property and take pictures for you.

The VIR Group is under preliminary investigation by the Attorney General's Office. The attorney in charge of this is Mike Villa and he can be contacted at Michael.Villa@MyFloridaLegal.com. There is, at present, no class action lawsuit against VIR - it is only a preliminary investigation. The best, quickest way to get onto the list of complainants against VIR with the AG's Office to to file a complaint with Seniors Vs Crime (352-689-4600, X4606). They are a Special Project of the Florida AG's Office and send all their VIR cases directly to the AG's Office for inclusion in the preliminary investigation.

I spoke with Mike Villa (Florida Attorney General's Office) & he's urging ALL VICTIMS to email their information to him Michael.Villa@MyFloridaLegal.com. ASAP!

Before you change your locks on your rental property make sure you're no longer. under legal contract with VIR.
