Shooter's World near Brownwood
 

I've been by that worksite on different times of the day. For at least a week or longer there has not been ONE single contractor vehicle or ANYONE working on the site.....looks like the parking area is in but since then, no progress at all.....

Does anyone know what may be going on ?? Maybe financial issues ?? :confused:

If this were a Villages project, it would have been completed long ago......!!!

Article in the daily sun mentioned the contractor was in the "mobilization" stage.

It is a Villages project. Could be waiting on inspections, approval of a change or two, a number of reasons for delays. There ya go... mobilizing as we speak.

This project is golf cart accessible. That means it is being developed by The Villages developer.

Go on their Website I'm sure it will be the same as the others. Fee's, hours and pricing are online.

I think there was a delay early on as a permit had to be gotten from Wildwood also. Seems I remember reading that in the Daily Sun.

But controlled by Shooters World. The developer might be building it but it would be under contract to Shooters World and they would determine the milestones needed and compliance. It is their business plan and projected revenue/cost stream, not the developers.

It is scheduled to open in November. The "Straight Shooters' web site has periodic updates on the progress.

If you want to see first hand what is "supposed" to be going in here, go to the one in Tampa (just North of Tampa...no need to go in the city). Excellent range facilities, clean, well lit, air conditioned, well run with range officers ever present.

An hour away. We go quite frequently. Looking forward to the one opening here to eliminate the ride. Although we always take advantage of the multitude of different eating establishments nearby Tampa.

The facility in Tampa is an awesome place.

I finally see some “activity “ happening on the building site.... they’ve placed a contruction “office” trailer along with putting up a fence with barrier material around the property....... that’s a good sign .....

The Daily Sun had an article stating that the contractor got a needed permit ...... if TV is involved in the project it will be completed swiftly. If not , this project will drag on for months.....

when shooters world opens, the range on 44 most likely will be history--for the following reasons
1) the people running the range have , the personality of a wort hog--they could care less about their customers
2) the ventilation or lack of it has resulted in patrons who use it frequently-and have been proven to have high lead in their blood tests

In this time of easily procured guns and mass shootings, the idea of welcoming a place called "Shooter's World" to The Villages boggles my mind. Just what we need.

Business is business....... welcome to reality in a time when Constitutional rights take precedence over anything else......

Can you please provide information on when the last time there was a mass shooting at a gun range?

There have been a few accidental shootings and suicides but by and large shooting ranges are very safe places.

Glad they do, and you and Brynnie should too. The only thing that protects us from the kind of folks that ban free speech on college campuses and wear pink hats around the Washington Mall.
