Favorite cocktail

My absolute favorite is a ginger pear martini. I think there will be some who will be appalled at the thought of flavored vodka.

Back in the day (like a hundred years ago), my favorite was a rusty nail--scotch and drambuie. I'd be flat on my back after one of those today. But I do like those thingies in a copper mug. There are two kinds. I can't remember the names. We were at a brewery in Pittsburgh with extended family, and on the menu it said you either had to pay a $5 deposit or surrender your driver's license to order one. I was hesitant, but the waitress, obviously assessing my age, said Oh, forget it, you don't have to do either of those. Of course, I then carefully made sure I was the last one gone from our table lest the younger crowd get any ideas.

Anything with a little umbrella.

Actually, I only drink rum that I distill myself and the occasional shot of tequila.

They used to sell pre-made Harvey Wallbangers in the liquor store, but I can't find them anymore.

I haven't heard of those in years. Funny how some drinks go in and out of popularity

Wine is funny too. I remember putting little ripped pieces of masking tape on a mateusse bottle and rubbing brown shoe polish on it so it looked like a leather candle stick holder.
That sat on my gigantic
electric wire spool table.

I always tried to be different, so I would be accepted...as one of the crowd.

You had to have one. Where else can you put the reel-to-reel and all the albums?

Jamesons with club soda and my 2nd is Pinot Grigio.
I have A drink every couple of months or so. 🤫

A good scotch ale that has been aged in oak bourbon barrels. It is a sipping beer and they are relatively hard to find. My favorite is called Backwoods ******* and is made by Founders Brewing Company. It is a seasonal beer only released once per year, sometime in October. I have a local package store up north reserve two cases for me each year and bring one case to our home in the Villages. I ration it to one beer a week so my supply lasts until next years batch is released. Another brewery, Central Waters, also makes a great barrel aged scotch ale.

I couldn't figure out why you use asterisks for favorite beer. We can all google, you can't keep it a secret-----now that i looked it up i understand. Do you enjoy World of Beers?

fw102807 05-12-2018 09:06 AM

When we were in NYC one time we went to a pub where they served Magners Pear Cider. We have learned since then that it is very difficult to find anywhere else.

I didn't put in the asterisks, I guess there is an algorithm used by TOTV that bleeps out certain words, including part of the name of the referenced beer.

I like the fact that world of beer has tablets that allow you to sort through your beer preferences and narrow down your choices based on many different criteria. However, I only drink Mich. Ultra (low carb beer) and an occasional barrel aged beer so the variety they offer is not my thing. Although I don't go there often, when my buddies from up north come to visit for a golf vacation I bring them there so they can experience the novelty.
