Move On

I know upfront that I am going to get a lot of negative feedback for this post, but here it goes anyways. Is it not about time to put to bed the posts, "three word sentences" and "the thread about nothing" and move on to posts that actually are relevant to real life issues?

Sure.. Maybe we should just eliminate the "Just For Fun" forum altogether. While we're at it let's delete the Sports, Movies, Music, Books, Television and any other forum you don't like. Or..... You can just skip over the posts you're not interested in.

No, those are actually real life issues.

Sorry you're so against people having a little fun.

The best part of this site, and almost all similar bulletin board sites for that matter, is no one has to pay...or is being forced to read them.

If they bug you, why do you bother to read "three word sentences" and "the thread about nothing"?
I respectfully suggest that you just move on.

Madelaine Amee 05-27-2018 06:49 AM

You could do what I do ............... skim through the posts every morning, skip over the titles and even the posters that do not interest me and find ones that do. Nothing in this world is ever going to be exactly what you want unless you control it.

Well, so far the general opinion seems to be>

"No way Jose"

...and...

"3 minus 3 equals..."

My opinion> leave well enough alone for the majority as long as it's popular and doing no harm. Actually personally I've checked out 3-word only a few times - same for "nothing'. So, it appears my post is more than 3 words and about a little something.

But I do understand your OP post and opinion...

Three Word Sentences are quite fun. Nothing has a good virtual friend of mine on it, so I contribute once in a while.

tomwed 05-27-2018 08:31 AM

The op is just stirring the pot. I think we need a couple of more running threads that bring people together and not so serious.

I would like to see a new one that is along the lines of the old Reader's Digest [column?]. The title/theme was called"It happens". Readers would send in funny stories about their kids, spouses and past. Maybe someone could help me?

And if I told a story about a pet duck I had and some one said that reminds me of my aunt Ethel and her washing machine I couldn't care less which way the story line went.

I'm brainstorming. Maybe the only rule would be that it be a story we might enjoy, something lighthearted or warming.

Just don’t ban Poop and developer bashing. The forum would go belly up.

Great idea, tomwed. I think it would be a hit!

One thing I wonder if the OP has considered is the number of views those threads get. Since the majority of the views are obviously not from the regular posters, I would think the forum owner(s) and advertisers on here would be quite happy with the "traffic" they generate.

The one point I do understand regarding the OP's post is that they are not necessarily everyone's cup of tea, just like someone else may never engage in political threads or golf threads, for example. But one thing that has happened with THREE WORD and NOTHING is that they have built camaraderie among those regular participants like no other threads on this forum. And I think that's worth something.

Most everyone needs levity now and then and the types of threads mentioned by the OP provide that for both participants and viewers.

Abby10 05-27-2018 09:19 AM

Just noticing the posts previous to mine - if this keeps up this thread may end up in "Just for Fun".

Uh oh..............

I have a duck story too! Let's do it. Name suggestions? (And NO bragging...)

You are on the correct on getting negative feedback but

Not From Me.

I respect You.

Great idea you

came up with.

What positive enlightening

threads for fillers?

Once these two

have been removed?

P.S. In the interest of Peace on Earth the Joke Thread has picked it up a notch. Some really great ones lately from EVERYONE. Yup, EVERYONE. Boy that hurt. But Facts Matter.

Yep, I was noticing how the viewership on the Joke Thread has climbed pretty rapidly as well. Obviously plenty of people are looking for that bit of levity.

Nobody more serious than I, nor afflicted with the "reading obsession" but why would you object to these threads, REALLY ?

This is a public forum, and many threads are set up to complain about something or whatever them mood strikes a poster.

RELAX...if you do not want to read them, as is always pointed out, SKIP OVER.

If you wish more serious talk, the internet is chock full of places to visit.

Seems to me that maybe there is more to your objection than you state ???????

Nucky 05-27-2018 12:49 PM

New Thread Coming Soon: How to properly Post an item For Sale in The Classifies. (with All The Information) so nobody has a medical incident. I think by the time people figure out how to get the picture into the ad they forget the other impotent information. (On Porpose). I doubt it is to hurt one certain poster so badly.

ColdNoMore 05-27-2018 01:37 PM

To the OP - Since both of those threads have a minuscule number of active posters in them (and almost exclusively the same ones, over and over)...I'm still trying to understand why they bother you so much?

Could you please further explain...your obvious opposition to them?

Maybe you weren't referring to me, but if so, not sure what you meant by that. I meant my statement as a positive - like way to go, good job, glad to see those kinds of threads succeed, including yours, because we all need that kind of levity/distraction from every day life. So keep on, keeping on......

Too many people in this forum think that only things they agree with should be posted. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I am very tired of nasty messages from people who do not agree with me and I have stopped posting on most threads.

Although you are absolutely correct, I hope you change your mind...and continue to post often.

This forum desperately needs more decent people like yourself...so don't let the bullies win. :ho:

I don't mind anyone disagreeing with what I have to say on the forum but the nasty PMs are harassment pure and simple.

I'm so sorry that you're getting nasty PMs.
It should be easy to "show" them to the Mods, who will take action.

I have already deleted them and am simply done expressing any opinions. I check the forum for anything of interest like Tomwed's food posts or the info about the router malware.
