Best low-carb take-out pizza

I realize this will be a short thread. There is none. Trying to keep my blood sugar down.

I make my own with almond flour....gluten free low carb no sugar. Pinterest has lots of recipes. Very tasty!!! No guilt!! Healthy!

We do too! But it would be so much easier when my wife is out shopping if she could pick up a pizza or Chinese food as a quick meal. Can’t do that anymore.

My go-to treat now is pumpkin chocolate chip muffins with almond flour, ground flaxseed, chopped walnuts, cinnamon, allspice, ground nutmeg, baking powder, eggs, sour cream and olive oil. For my serving, I usually top off with natural peanut butter.

Great question but don't think there's a carry-out option....at least I've not found one in the 7-ish years I've been eating low-carb. That's the down-side of my way of eating....it's do-able but not easy!! Takes A LOT of planning..........BUT if someone knows the answer I'm also waiting to hear it!! Because I get sick of recipes.....

It is definitely do-able but a lot more work mostly for my wife to be honest. About all I do is make the muffins. A year ago I wouldn’t have touched a shepherds pie with cauliflower instead of potatoes but our tastes have changed. Now spaghetti squash replaces pasta. We’ve both lost a lot of weight as result and are probably a lot healthier.

There is a company called Real Good Foods (Real Good Foods – Real Food You Feel Good About Eating.) that produces a low carb pizza (4 carbs). Haven't tried it but it sounds interesting. They do not sell to the public but their site says the pizza is available at Walmart. I checked Walmart online and it says it is out-of-stock. I put in an email request to be notified when it is back in stock.

I'm always willing to try anything. LOL

I would love your recipe for this. I used to make pumpkin cookies with chocolate chips in them. Sounded weird to a lot of people but take one bite and look out - they are yummy and addictive! Don't make them anymore because I don't need the temptation.

If you're willing to share, I would love your recipe which sounds much more healthy.

Sorry, I have no suggestions for your low carb pizza dilemma. I have done a few recipes with almond flour as well due to my son being gluten intolerant. As you say, it's amazing how your tastes change when you make permanent changes in your diet. Feeling better and having more energy are great side effects too!

I’ll scan it and post it tomorrow. I credit these muffins with keeping me on the low carb diet. When I weakened, I’d grab a muffin. There are carbs in pumpkin but not that many when you figure you get 12 muffins out of one can of pumpkin.

Actually I just found it online. I’ve changed a few things. I use 3 teaspoons of cinnamon, 3 eggs and one cup of chocolate chips with as high a cocoa content as possible. I use sour cream rather than coconut milk, olive oil and i cook for 50 minutes.

Here is what I found with an internet search: frozen lo carb pizza - Bing

I’ve found that shipping often costs as much as the product or you have to buy it in cases which gets expensive.

jgm3279 06-19-2018 07:28 PM

I think you can also buy Real Good Food pizzas at The Green Apple health food store on Rolling Acres Rd.

jnieman 06-19-2018 07:56 PM

If you can find a low carb flat bread (already baked) at Publix (on rack across from where they make the sandwiches) you are good to go. Put on sauce, cheese, pepperoni, a few veggies (thinly sliced but not too many. Don't pile on toppings as it will get soggy), and some 5 cheese italian on top (small amount). Bake at 425 for 8-9 minutes. Enjoy!

tophcfa 06-19-2018 08:57 PM

I avoid carbs whenever possible so I never get pizza. Sometimes when I go to an event that only serves pizza I just peel everything off the dough, eat it, and chuck the dough. Not my favorite meal, but it's tasty and low carb. The looks I get after chucking three or four pieces of dough in the trash are not usually too welcoming, but at least I don't get fat.

jgm3279 06-19-2018 09:19 PM

Real Good Food pizzas also sold at Publix.

queasy27 06-20-2018 12:24 AM

Depending on what low carb means to you:

Walmart has their Marketside brand of prepared pepperoni and mozzarella flatbread; 25gms per 5 oz. serving.

As BK001 mentioned, Real Good Foods has premade pizzas that are 8gms per 4 oz slice. Three cheese, pepperoni, and supreme. Available at Walmart.

If you're adding toppings to a flour-based holder, Joseph's It's A Wrap Lavash Bread (similar to flatbread) has 8gms per 9 oz piece. Available at Walmart.

(Other stores may carry these as well but I didn't check.)

BRN_RI_FL 06-20-2018 06:59 AM

I’ll have to try the Real Good pizzas. We buy the low carb flatbreads (Lavash and others) which are pretty good and quick but no substitute for real pizza crust. But they do satisfy that urge for pizza.

theorem painter 06-20-2018 07:39 AM

The Green Apple on Rolling Acres sells frozen low carb pizza. Not the real thing, but not bad. Takes care of the pizza craving.

NotGolfer 06-20-2018 07:43 AM

When asked what I miss most after finding out my gluten intolerance----my answer would be...a really good bread AND pizza! BUT for me those things have to be a thing of the past. Low-carb pizzas are "maybe" a good substitute but nothing tastes as good as the real thing. I haven't found Real Good Pizza's yet...may need to go on a "hunting-trip" soon!!!

BRN_RI_FL 06-20-2018 09:17 AM

Ok, next question. Where do I get low-carb Chinese food? Or rephrased, is there anything at a Chinese restaurant I can eat?

Aloha1 06-20-2018 09:50 AM

Publix carries a frozen brand called Palermo. Thin crust and 1/3 of it has less calories than 1/6 of the other brands. Not sure of the carb load but since the crust is very thin it has to be less than other brands. Very tasty if you're craving pizza.

HUH? On slice of Pizza is about 600 calories. Typically people eat two slices so that is 1200 calories plus anything elses you eat-free garlic knots etc.

Your above PUMPKIN CHOCOLATE CHIP MUFFINS. Also, CALORIC TORPEDOES. Most sugar free recipes boost the FAT. Sour cream, olive oil, walnuts, peanut butter? If, you are serious, you want to check the calories in your, "diet"
snack.

Not a diet to lose weight but that has been one of the benefits. Changing my food choices so I don’t end up with diabetes. I’ve lost 35 pounds which is 5-10 pounds too much. Actually trying to gain now. A1C dec 6.1, feb 5.8 and May 5.6 so I have been making the correct food choices. Never had as much energy as I have now.

Terri TVG 06-20-2018 12:27 PM

I ordered low carb pizza crusts online from Califlour Foods. Not bad. They help me get over my pizza urges. They are only sold in packages of six and up so I have several in the freezer. If you’d like to try I’ll trade you one for a pumpkin muffin lol.

A true low-carb diet does not count calories.

I've followed a low-carb diet for 2 1/2 years. I lost 60 lbs, my LDL is 49. I do not count calories.

Re: Chinese food ~ I just skip the rice. I order veggie rich dishes, usually with chicken.

Yeah you’re not limiting yourself re quantity of food, you’re limiting your self as to type of food. And by cutting out much of your carb intake, you’re not as hungry as you used to be. The carbs promote hunger.

MorTech 06-21-2018 10:03 AM

Don't know but you will need to find someone who uses almond flour in the crust.

I have been on a low-carb diet for 20 years.
If you stay under 30 grams of carbs per day, you will be fine (provided you get at least some aerobic activity!)
Go ahead and eat a slobbering slice of real pizza no more than once per week....
The best thing to do is power thru the craving but...yeah...I know. I still miss bread.
Whenever I can't sleep, I eat a big slice of Edwards Turtle or Pecan pie and I go out for the next 12 hours :)
