Cane Garden
I'm frustrated with Cane Garden. They keep a small stock of bottles of Diet Tonic Water to serve from the bar. When I requested this on multiple occasions the message was it is only on hand for mixed drinks. To me, this makes no sense. When a product is on hand, and is requested, then serve it. I've needed to request a manager to get the Diet Tonic Water on several occasions. Last night the "general manager" provided the requested beverage after telling me there would be an uncharge past what I would pay for soda. Does this make sense to anyone out there?

 You know their rules and "on multiple occasions" try to get around them..... why? Their Bar - their rules.chilout The name of the place is "Cane Garden" not "The Boston Garden" |
This is why we will never have any better restaurants in TV, you pay for what you get and if you want something special, PAY--mywife wanted a real Reuben made from their real cried beef , they said she had to pay the corned beef dinner $, one of the best Reubens in a long time

On another note on Cane Garden
I ate there last Sunday and the food was disgusting. In addition the waitress had an attitude. Won’t hurry back. This is the first time I had that experience in the Villages with any restaurant. It’s typically always friendly every where you go. Went to Havana CC on Thursday and everything was fantastic. The waitress could not have been nicer! |
Cane Garden has the best pizza of all the CCs. Way better than Havana.

Until the minorities become the majority the restaurants will serve what keeps the revenue stream. I assume, the majority still likes Cane and the minority will need to find another place to go that meets their needs.

Why not

Servers do not make a restaurant-they come & go like the wind in TV, the only thing that should be consistent in any restaurant should be the food & beverages
|
Went there about two weeks ago...place smelled like a bad dishrag, decor was old amd tired, but the food was good.
But im dome with the country clubs here...overpriced, mediocre food...just go out of the villages for better food. |

And I’d add that overall, the place is so poorly lit and with worn out decor that a report of good food does not make it an attractive choice amongst the many restaurants in TV who actually compete for our business. As for the country clubs here, I think too many are run by the same leasing group. Nothing good comes from, nor stays for long, with a monopoly whose attitude emits the unspoken message, “Take it or leave it.” —- |
My opinion - the establishment gets to sell what they want, when they want. No you can't have the lunch special, we stopped serving that at 3:00.
Look at it this way. The kitchen has cooking sherry. It's not for sale individually, it is for mixing in food. Same for the diet tonic, it is for mixing in drinks. |
You could always make "Villages Lemonade".
|
Big news flash. Every year once the snow birds leave . The food , service, waiters, cook, etc. start to reduce the quality of everything. Happened every year since I moved in 8 years ago. Want to eat out and get better food and service get away from the villages a few miles makes a world of difference.
|
Cane is a very busy place. Food is ok sometimes and mediocre sometimes . Been going there since 2011 less and less frequently. Only go when someone else in our party makes the decision. Needs serious facelift, very dingy and unappealing.
|
It does need to be shut down and things cleaned and repainted. The wait staff, many of them have been there since their beginning. We enjoy going there and can always find something to enjoy.

But I believe you will pay substantially more than at most Villages CC's. Not a problem, sometimes better cost more... |

You always should get what you pay for--most of the time in lots of villages restaurants you really get short changed when it comes to quality & style
Turners and the Rose Plantation have a niche, again we need one or two restaurants like these 2 in TV |
I am not sorry to hear that one or two people did not like Cane Garden or another wanted a special beverage. Don't come back. That makes more room for my wife and I at Cane. It is mobbed every night, so they must be doing something right. Not perfect, but is anyplace? Sure, for special occasions there are some great restaurants outside TV, but for every day Cane is very good. Just saying...

I get annoyed at the number of people who come on here and have nothing good about any eating establishment in The Villages. If there's no good places there sure are a heck of a lot of people eating out at night at these below par eateries. If you don't like the places fine but there sure are a lot of us that are very happy.
I know I'll take a beating but I'll have to read about it tomorrow as it's getting near time to head out to one of our favorite spots. |
Lots of people bought cars in the 70's & 80's that were pure junk, popularity--doesn't equate with quality--McDonalds, Wendys are popular-they're good @ what they do--but its not quality good food
The Cane IMHO, is the best CC when compared to others @ their price point--Arnold Palmer is above their price point & quality |

Just got back from the Can--their Cod bowl, blew away what we had @ the Lighthouse last week-@ 40% less cost with 4 Grey Goose Martini's
Rumor has it the chef is going to buy the Cane |
I enjoy Cane Garden. Have always had good meals and service. I guess I am one of those who does not have a “sophisticated palate”. Of course, I don’t care for tonic water, even when it mixed with a good vodka. Why waste good vodka with tonic water?

Fruity tooty drinks are for amateurs--real drinkers -drink straight booze-per my favorite bar tender in Charley's Aunt--Chatham, NJ -RIP Charley
|
Cane Garden; Best onion rings in TV. NOT out of a bag, hand cut and buttermilk battered. When I get the urge for an artery choker they can't be beat! Sure, you could get cheaper somewhere else but you will get what you pay for.
|
The very best place to socialize. Best patio in The Villages. Best Happy Hour. Great servers who look after their tables.
Great food too Just love this place up to 5 times a week when we are there. |

I enjoy a good Shirley Temple from time to time and I think Simply Lemonade cannot be beat. I LOVE an Arnold Palmer, that Arnold, he was the best. I believe that Simply Lemonade is the most expensive lemonade at Publix. It must be the best and I must be the best too, because I buy the most expensive offered. Just a little sarcastic humor to try to make a point. The point is that we all have our own tastes and opinions. What we like to eat and drink and what we pay for it is just a matter of personal choice |
