Wish we had one here
When we ere headed north or returning to Fl on our boat we always made a pit stop @ Daytona Marine & Boatworks
There was a Chart House restaurant there, & we would always eat at their bar Just checked out their menu--check it out and see what we're missing here--pricey but different |
We we had one
I think Chart House is a franchise. We used to dine at a Chart House at Harbor Place, in Baltimore. Upscale, good food, a little pricey but generally worth it. Having one here would give Bonefish a run for the money. One can hope.

Used to eat at the one on Longboat Key when my folks retired to Bradenton. Great food. Yes, pricy but you get what you are paying for. I see it's only an hour 45 to the one at Daytona Beach Shores.
|
Yea, but they start serving diner @4:30--out of there @ 7:00--don't want to be driving back with a martini apiece & sharing a bottle of wine

There was an absolutely gorgeous Chart House in San Juan, PR. Sadly, it closed--or maybe moved. We ate at one in San Diego and were disappointed in the setting. The one on Longboat was okay. Neither was as beautiful as the one in SJ, in an old house with its gorgeous tile and covered porches. You could hear the coquis chirping in the trees on the property. A real gem close to the old Dupont Hotel that was embroiled in a terrible fire set by employees and subsequently closed for many years. I often wondered if that had anything to do with the Chart House closing.

The way its going , we'll never live long enough to see quality restaurant in TV--its a shame--we're destined to be the burger, wings, shakes & draft beer capital of central Fl.
|
When I was travelling regularly, I often ate at Chart Houses - nearly always on the water. Once I met someone who was taking an international flight just to fill out a card for eating at every chart house. I don't recall the prize - likely free meals...
|
Always enjoyed the Chart House in Annapolis .. Also enjoyed the view of harbor etc .. Pretty difficult to have one an hour from water .. Looking at a gator swamp just wouldnt be the same .. but good idea !
|
Would be a great substitute for the Lighthouse when it fails--would have to be a ground up rebuild--the Chart House owners are the most successful restauranteurs in the US--it would be a great draw
|
Don’t hold your breath on that one
|
Yep, dinners starting at $30, I'm sure it will be a hit.....

And they would be drawing from out side of the Villages-build & they will come
|
I have been to the one in Boston...very nice. I think as one poster noted though they are generally in port cities.
|
We have restaurants here that have $25 to 30 dinners, for ok food. A good restaurant with staff to go with it would do well. Average income here could support good food here instead of driving to Tampa, Orlando, or Ocala.

So right

With all the national businesses that have picked TV to open a store.......it does beg the question why there has not been any attempt by an upscale restaurant.......there is no upscale restaurant in TV and unfortunately no promise of one....never even a rumor of one.
Gotta be a reason......large population numbers and growing......more than half of which will not pay the tab at an upscale establishment. |

Most of the "stories" about the high rent, and developers percentage being so high are nothing more than urban legend.....at best. When one makes the decision to sign a lease with TV there are no secrets, no hidden costs, no surprises. It is all spelled out in very understandable terms and conditions. This subject is usually the reason some of the failures in TV always use as the excuse. To get a good, realistic perspective one need only talk to those businesses that have been operating in TV for over 10 or 15 years.....no secret to their success...... Back to the subject of no upscale restaurants.....given the locations of the many upscale establishments it is pretty obvious the rent was not the determining factor. I do not know, but would guess the rent is not a reason for lack of upscale eating establishments in TV. |
Ate at a Chart House in Maui and one around Washington D.C. years ago and enjoyed both meals greatly. Given that almost every other chain seems to be in Orlando, I wonder why one isn't there already. Here? I don't know that us retirees eat at higher-end restaurants often enough to warrant one or else there would already be a selection of them in the area.

I hope the lighthouse doesn't fail. I remember how hard she worked to buy it from the Morses. I miss the catfish.

Guess you've never been in business for yourself-would you like to work for 14 years with out a day off, being on call 24/7 and lots of sleepless nights
\-- but a $20 million pay day when you sold your business -would make you whole, but it didn't--still carrying baggage |
Back on topic, please...Chart House restaurant.
|
We've eaten at the Chart House in Jax a few times.
While the food/service were fine, the location on the South Bank is worth it...just by itself. Nothing like having a great view of the river, while dining inside a just landed...flying saucer UFO. :D |
