May-December relationships.
I just read that a public figure who is 68 went to the ESPYS with girlfriend who is 20.
Thought it would be fun to get some views on this huge age difference. Disclaimer: I am a year older than my husband. I took him to raise. I don't know if I could get along with someone who has so much more energy than me, but I am 78. Just trying to get a little conversation going. Are you glad you are the same age? Do you think men enjoy younger partners more or less than women or WHAT? |
I am always reminded of a British talk show host who asked a pretty young lady who had married a famous magician who was twenty years older than she, "What initially attracted you to the millionaire, Paul Daniels?"
|
I also robbed the cradle. My wife is four years younger than I am. I'm still waiting for her to grow up. :loco:
(Pardon me while I go check that my will is up to date. ;) ) |
My Bride is just a couple years younger, not much of a gap......grew up in the same decades.
She says I act like a 12 year old, so I don't know what that makes her. |
This is a good topic.
I think some of it is ridiculous in that it's obvious what is going on. Other times I guess it's an each their own thing. Katherine McPhee and David Foster look ridiculous IMO. It looks like a girl and her Grandfather. I always think George Clooney looks like a guy on a walk with his daughter when he is with his wife....... But mostly the thing I don't get is when older men have kids with the woman at like age 70. You want to be 90 with a kid in colege? Come on. Larry King is 84. His Father in Law is 88. Isn't that awkward??? Mick Jagger has a Great Grandchild and child the same age. I mean get a vasectomy FFS, dude!!! |
May- December. That original post is more like March-"December next year"!

I am three years older and my wife says I better not lose that little boy inside me.

Whatever works for a couple is fine with me. I have been single since 1994 at which time I was 52. The oldest woman I dated casually was six years older than me, the youngest I casually dated no more than 30 years younger. My three serious long term girlfriends were from 11 to 20 years younger. One lady I have known a long time and date from time to time has a mother 10 years younger than my ex-wife which she and I find amusing. Most of the women I have dated in recent years were born after I graduated high school but before I earned my Bachelor of Science at college. I did not plan it that way; it just turned out that way. Life is good.

At 64 I wouldn't know what to talk about and I am sure our music would differ.

I was not going to get involved in this thread, but I will. Only my opinion ................
I truly believe that the younger woman is attracted to the established older male because he is established in a career with a good income, is sophisticated, can handle himself in just about any situation and has the means to show the young female a completely different life than a young man can. As for actually marrying the older male .... well that is a very different ball game. You are signing up to be his caretaker for the rest of your life and that has happened in our own circle of friends. Me, I met my otherhalf when I was just 18 and he was 21. We grew up together and had fun doing it, and now we are aging together and enjoying that too! My sister met her husband when she was 42 and very established in her career - he was ten years younger, and they too had a great life together, she joked that the was her toy boy ........ unfortunately she must have worn him out because he passed rather early. So, to each their own .......... or whatever rocks your boat. |

Congrats to you and your other half............you traveled thru many challengers growing up together. |
I have a friend who met someone with her same birthday of May 31 at the dog park. She is thirteen years older than him and they also got married on May 31. They seem to be doing well. I have known her since January of 2007. Longer than I have been on Talk of the Villages.

The man is thinking with his pecker while the much younger woman is of course thinking of money and security.
Florida law requires that the widow be allowed to remain in the house even if she is not on the deed. So the heirs will have to wait and wait and wait until she finally moves out, either by head or by feet. We had a friend whose 20 yr younger girlfriend refused to move in with him unless he married her, promised her all of his pension, promised to buy her a fancy new car every six months, to leave the house for her to sell so she could pass the proceeds to her two sons from a previous marriage. In turn, she would take care of him, and his own daughters would get nothing. |

What I have observed over the years as a single is that members of the opposite sex are like buses. You get off one and another one comes along. |

If you can handle it, go for it

Generally speaking, one should be with someone who is within 10 years of age. More than 10 years and you probably won't have similar taste in music and viewpoints.
There are always exceptions to this rule. Whatever floats your boat! Who's to say what's right? |
