Driveway The Villages

New to Florida and I was wondering about law. since there are many here who can find it, on sitting drunk or with drink in cars on your property.

On my driveway (not in the garage) can I sit in my Mercedes with a couple friends, at night, listening to music, chatting and drinking. No key because Benz.

I ask is because With a lot of people over, sometimes, you want o go into the car, chat, have AC, and listen to music.

I have seen that people get arrested drunk and car on.

We would be playing music, having a great time. Car would never be in gear and never move. Just need the engine to get the AC running full on.

I don't know the laws. The neighbors would not mind and never hear anything.

I’m speechless!

JSR22 07-19-2018 05:18 PM

Why not go into your home?

Others are in the house, want a small group privacy.

call the sheriff and ask him, other than that I too am speechless, wow.

Buffalo Jim 07-19-2018 06:25 PM

I think that it might be legal in a domestic car but not in a Benz !

Fredman 07-19-2018 06:29 PM

Never heard of such a thing.

villagetinker 07-19-2018 07:01 PM

My GUESS, in any vehicle with an open container you are asking for trouble.

photo1902 07-19-2018 07:07 PM

If this is/was a serious post by the OP, it hands down has to be the most absurd question ever asked. Basically, is it ok to sit in a vehicle which is running, and either be intoxicated, and/or consuming alcoholic beverages. Despite the absurdity of adults sitting in a car in the driveway listening to music and drinking, this still is clearly beyond comprehension.

ColdNoMore 07-19-2018 07:12 PM

You could always do it with the car in the garage...so neighbors wouldn't even see you.

:D

rjm1cc 07-19-2018 07:30 PM

I think an open container in a parked golf cart in the square is a violation. My guess is you would have a problem in your driveway with the motor running. I would also ask your neighbors if your music is too loud.

It might be worth trying in your neighbor's driveway before you do so in your driveway . But never in a Benz especially if it is an E-Class or higher and if you paid cash .

:D

Just don’t run the motor to keep the battery charged while inside the garage with its door down.

NoMoSno 07-19-2018 08:28 PM

You could have a designated driver sit in the drivers seat...

Need the air conditioner though.

sdedes 07-19-2018 08:35 PM

Personally, if I were your neighbor, I would mind!

Sounds to me like you would be asking for possible trouble. You either need to invite less people over or get a bigger house.

Fraugoofy 07-19-2018 09:27 PM

Are you 17?

:oops:I looked up the law, it's legal only if everyone in the car is stark naked and smoking weed.

On another note, while reading your post, I think you've already "Been there, done that". Are you stoned right now?:loco::loco:

OK.

First - This is not the place to ask if something you are about to do is legal. You will get lots of answers, but how can you be sure any of them are accurate.

Second - If you are from up north and not used to our summer humidity, I can understand wanting to sit in air conditioning. Is it a little strange to sit in a car? Sure, but not worth an insult. Maybe try one of those cheap box fans.

bilcon 07-20-2018 08:09 AM

I think you should be committed. Sitting in your car. OMG

marjie55 07-20-2018 08:17 AM

sitting in car on own property

If you do decide to put the car in the garage, make sure the garage door is open or you and friends may overdose on CM poisoning!

Chatbrat 07-20-2018 08:33 AM

More like mooning

kstew43 07-20-2018 08:39 AM

thats the kind of thing I did alot when I was 16, minus the booze, most of the time......

takes me back......

now I own homes and if I want to drink and play music.....with friends....I do it in the house...

New Englander 07-20-2018 09:23 AM

Seriously, TV is much too nice and classy a place to be doing what you want to do. This is not good for you or the neighborhood.

vintageogauge 07-20-2018 10:38 AM

Why not just buy an RV instead of a MB? You can park it for 3 days as long as you don't plug it in so get one with a generator and park it in your driveway
when you have guests. Be sure to include your neighbors to prevent any complaints.

Dear New Englander, don't be stressed, Chi33 is pulling our collective legs and yanking our chains. He was KIDDING.

Carla B 07-20-2018 11:29 AM

I like the RV idea. Everything tastes better in an RV or on a boat.

Wow, you must really dislike your house, or, the people who you would leave in the house, or both!:censored:

Well, then he got me.

Topspinmo 07-21-2018 09:18 AM

I think what he asking is can he get DUI, DWI, PT setting in his car in his drive way on private property ? IMO I would not want to be in car with opened container or empty container no matter where I'm setting. the reason IMO once the LEO writes ticket or arrests you are guilty. You have to get lawyer (the shady the better) to prove you and innocent. All $$$$$ I care not to waste.

I also think this why we see all the discarded beer cans and whiskey bottles along the MMP. Open/empty container law in vehicle? Once you gulp down that Shyt you get rid of the evidence?

Bogie Shooter 07-21-2018 09:31 AM

I don’t see a lot of discarded bottles and cans. Fact be, I don’t see any.

Don't waste gas. Here's what you do. After the sun goes down, take your boombox and cooler, go up on your roof. Works great when there's a slight breeze and you have privacy from the annoying people in your home as well.:D
