Do you mute commercials?
This is seasonal for us. Wonder when networks will figure out that maybe a zillion times of same commercial is a bit much?
|
Repetition is a form of brainwashing!!
We pre record 100% of everything we expect to watch......allowing speeding through commercials. |
When I watch "Commercial TV" I always have a second channel selected so I just hit the previous channel button on the remote when a commercial comes on. It doesn't eliminate the commercials, but sure does reduce the time I have to watch them.
|
I find myself watching youtube for news. That's mostly what I watch. Sometimes I go off on a tangent for awhile, Mr. Rogers, cooking, golf, DIY. The commercial averages 5 seconds before I click SKIP. some netflix too----I can binge if I like a series
|
I record most programs I watch and fast forward thru commercials. My Pillow will never convince me to buy one.
|
Last night we could not find one single thing we wanted to watch on TV.
Why is it that programs from U.K. and Australia have amazing costuming and sets and usually great plots? All we have is unending commercials, you'd think all that money would give money to someone who could make a nice TV show. I don't want to see people on bachelor, bachelorette, or swing on things like monkeys or unending game shows. I don't like to see dismembered bodies or their interiors. I know. Have another cup of coffee and shut up, Gracie. And I would pay good money to see a news show without opinion. |
Don't cut out too many commercials, I'll never get back from the bathroom in time.
 |
I try to record as much as possible so I can skip over commercials, Watching television with commercials is a waste of time. IMHO
Always trying to sell you something you don't want or need. I only watch sporting events in real time and I agree, commercials are a good time to take care of business. |
Commercials - terrible and I mute them immediately and then go do something in the kitchen or elsewhere.
I have just got back from the Doctor's office for a routine check to see whether I am dead or alive and he told me he is recommending to all his patients to stop watching the news, any news channels, it is driving us all crazy. I watch PBS and I can usually find some good European/Australian or Canadian program to watch, usually a good mystery with no gory details. I watch Hallmark, and most of the programs on National Geographic Wild and Science Station. I am addicted to Big Bang and Botched and a couple of other kinda junky programs that need no brain power to watch. Other than that we read. |

It's a good way to learn about new products. Who knew that Dyson only made sticks? But I do not like repetitive commercials, and most of them repeat a zillion times. :ohdear: I blame the need for repetition on dewilson who uses commercial time for bathroom breaks. |

I'm actually thinking of using them for car insurance. I ensured my Yesteryear golf cart with Foremost, which is an arm of Farmers. When I had a garage fire, they reimbursed me immediately for the golf cart. |
I seriously would not consider a Toyota due to the stupid commercial that is playing recently.. Bear (**it) in the wood, sliced bread.. etc.. they need a new Ad Agency or something. Is Darrin and Mr Tate still available??
|
Not currently watching TV except for Jeopardy and golf majors. Waiting for college football to start up.
|
Gracie, try OAN One American News Direct TV 347
|
Don’t watch any network shows. Watch baseball and golf. Mute all commercials.

We record 90% of what we watch. Zip trough the commercials as needed. We do like some of them like Morgan & Morgan and other relentless lawyer commercials. We noticed there are not many Contraceptive Commercials but Blue Pill information is plentiful.
|
Probably nine out of ten are muted.

If it's something that may end up running long and going unexpectedly to another channel, I will try to stay close to the real-time showing...so I can catch up if it happens. Other than that, I try to DVR almost ALL shows I watch...so that I can FF through the commercials. |

I agree one of the most annoying commercials on television is... The Toyota of Orlando & the Sister...Toyota of Leesburg ...now what looks like the Female has replaced the " Guy " with which has a striking resemblance to her. UGGGGGGhhh |
What is worse still than the mindless commercials is the " Canned " laughter.. Extremely annoying. In England for example canned laughter is pretty much non existent.
Good comedy doesn't need it. |

The worst part about the commercials is how the volume increases when they come on. |
My father used to mute the ads and it drove everyone nuts. We record everything we watch except the news and sports events and just go past the ads.
|
I record everything, including news for Mom and Dad, so they can fast forward.

I record all my favorite baseball team's games so not only can I skip the commercials, I can skip the game if they don't win. Suspense not being one of my things. |

I thought they had a towel under the pup so he wouldn't burn his tush on the hot car. |
Actually, i'm thinking of canceling my cable TV and just ordering CBS for $9.99 a month and watching things on Netflix and Amazon prime. That should do it! And the miserable news, I can't take it. I watch just enough to be informed.

Directv and Youtube tv let you record and fast forward through commercials. I find when I watch live tv I fall asleep when commercials come on. Must be a better use of my time. Scotch helps.

Don't blame the networks. They get paid the same money for good commercials as they get for the bad ones, so they play them all. Blame Liberty Mutual, Geico and dozens of drug companies for the repetitious, dreadful commercials. The worst is Liberty Mutual's "You named him Brad" commercial, which I've personally seen at least one thousand times. Thankfully, I haven't seen it in a few months, so I'm hoping (praying) that they retired it.
|
I always mute commercials but I record many shows so I can play a 30 minute one in 15 - 20 minutes rather than waste part of my life waiting for commercials to end.
Way back in the early 1970's I ran wires from the TV's speakers under the carpet to a switch in a box within reach of my easy chair so I could turn off the sound during commercials. It was the Model T of mute buttons. Ever notice commercials are broadcast louder than shows and with better fidelity? |
You better believe it! Would completely block them if possible.
