WVLG now streaming on Villages app

I just noticed last night that the latest version of The Villages app now streams WVLG live. Much better sound quality than the AM broadcast with its 60’s tinny thin sound. It’s still not streaming on iHeart Radio which would make listening a lot more convenient. It’s a little progress.

I would listen to the station a lot more if the sound quality was better. Hello Villages are you listening? We know you’re out there reading all the web traffic! Time to upgrade the radio station to modern times.

And while they are at it, they could venture the music into the 80's and 90's to reach a broader audience. I find the radio station extremely outdated!!

You can also get it on Xfinity channel 99. The station may be outdated, but so am I, and that is why I like it.

The AM broadcasting dooms the sound quality. I remember some time ago AM stereo was tried but failed. A lot of AM stations that played music moved to talk radio as FM stereo was the choice format. Perhaps WVLG will follow some day.

It would to be better if there was more music, rather than Villages Real Estate selling homes as it was just 15 years ago

I would love to see WLTV on FM, it is a real pain to change radio from FM (normal mode for me) to AM, at least 3 button pushes, IF I left WLTV as the last station on the AM band, otherwise additional button pushes to get to the station.

Updated Villages app.... Can't find WVLG.

Where is it ???

retiredguy123 08-12-2018 05:53 PM

Cannot figure how to stream it either. Can someone please provide a detailed explanation as to how to play the station on the app?

REDCART 08-12-2018 05:59 PM

The Villages app for IOS (IPad and iPhone) has 7 menu item on the home screen. WVLG listen live is one of them. Not sure if this app exists for any other platform. If you don’t see it as an option, you’re not using the Villages app. I don’t believe it’s an option from the Villages web site.

retiredguy123 08-12-2018 06:03 PM

I have the latest app version on my Android tablet and phone. There are only 6 menu items on the home screen. So, maybe it does not work for Androids.

SIRE1 08-12-2018 06:39 PM

I'm sure glad you couldn't find it either. I even uninstalled the app and reinstalled it on my Android phone, and still couldn't find a link to WVLG. I was just getting ready to enter a reply asking where the link was on the App, when I saw your reply. If anyone ever sees it on an Android, please post so I will know to look for it.

Goldwingnut is very reliable. But I’m wondering if this is a very late April Fools Joke?

No April Fools on this, I've installed it on 2 iPads and on my iPhone, all have it and play the radio station. My guess is that it's not available for an android yet.

I only have one android tablet and it's attached to my drone's controller, NOTHING gets installed on that unit so I won't even start to look for it there.

UpNorth 08-12-2018 09:06 PM

If you have the app on your iphone, you need to update it. The update came out only a couple of days ago. If you don't update your Villages app, you won't find the radio station.

dotti105 08-12-2018 09:18 PM

I wasn’t able to get the new features by simply updating the app on my iPhone. I first had to delete the current app.
Then when I reinstalled the app, the new options including streaming audio appeared! Like magic!

Chi-Town 08-12-2018 10:11 PM

Mystery solved I guess. Will have to wait to see if it will be available on an Android device.

I tried that with my Android, but it didn't work.

Miss WVLG when in Va. Love the older music. Even the ads.

My Samsung does not have the option.

This may be a stupid question, but is the Villages app that can stream WVLG the same as the Villages GPS app?

TommyT 08-13-2018 08:43 AM

This worked for me !!!

Had to delete the old app because there is NO way to update. I then reinstalled it and there it was.... :a040:

No, it's not the GPS app. It's a free app called "The Villages App" (at least on iPhone) put out by The Villages. It has things like movie and entertainment schedules and other stuff , and a stream of the villages radio station

Ginpappas 08-13-2018 10:07 AM

Thanks for the update

dewilson58 08-13-2018 10:12 AM

Talked to WVLG.

Try this link:

The update for The Villages App on Android devices is available in the Play Store now. I just downloaded the update and streaming works.

Didn't even know that that site existed or that WVLG was streaming on it. Helpful for the computer, not so much for the phone or tablet.

Erased old, downloaded the new app and we are in good shape now. It’s a process, one IPhone worked immediately the other one started working this morning. Thanks GWN.
